Tiaras, Tutus & Tie-Dye: A 5K Trip Trifecta - UPDATED: 8/2/11!

Hey, folks! Haven't been on the DIS in a while but wanted to pop in and update everyone on my training.

I can't remember if I mentioned hurting my leg a while back? But I did. While running. Anyway, I had to take a break from exercise for a few weeks, but the past two, I'm getting back in the swing. Yesterday I walked just under 2.5 miles at my slowest run pace, so I'm feeling pretty confident that I'll be able to get back to normal soon.

YEA!!! Glad you're getting back up to speed.

So you want to hear a goofy rookie story? Last week at Disney, I kept my pedometer on full-time, except at the water parks. Wanted to see how many miles I'd cover on one of my typical commando days, then compare to one DH's go-slow days. Who knew that the rattling and shaking of the attractions would bump up my miles while I sat? And I'd been eating up Mickey Bars based on all those "extra" miles I thought I was racking up for about three days before I wised up. So, did I stop eating Mickey Bars? :scared1: No way! I'm just paying for them this week.

You know what? I would never even guess that the rides would bump up the miles! :lmao:

Hey, I have one question.

Were the Mickey bars good? ;)

Don't worry, you'll make it up. :thumbsup2

I'm still here! And still not running...:sad2: Life has just been so busy lately. But I do walk a LOT every single day, so that's something.

I want to get back into running - and I will! Hopefully it won't take me too long to get back to where I was.

No worries, my friend! I'm here, too, and also, not running. I've been nursing my injured leg, ran this week, and it wasn't feel right so I took a break. I think I'm going to be going for the fast walk for a while.

Thank goodness for football!
No, really, I mean it this time. After too many weeks of nursing a re-injury :crutches:, I was inspired by a touchdown run. The grace & power & joy of running -- I wanted it! So out I went right then & took a brisk walk/run around the park. Not a twinge of complaint from my poor knee, thankfully. And I've been out every other day since then. Back on track! Maybe Santa will give me that tiara for Christmas after all.

:santa: To everyone doing Rotary's annual 5k Santa Run (or 1-mile walk) tomorrow, have a blast! :cheer2:

How's everyone doing? Are yall still planning on running the Princess 2013? Just curious, I haven't heard from anyone on here lately. :) I'm still planning on it for 2013. I need to get back on board withmy training.

I'd still love to do a Half at WDW, but I think for me it'll have to be one of the fall ones (and not this year). Since I no longer live in Texas.........I am at the mercy of northern winter weather, and Dec. - Feb. in New England are usually cold and often icy. Training for the Princess Half would be tricky. Can't afford a gym, so that's that. :sad2:

Good luck with your quest!! GO FOR IT!!!!

Thanks LegoMom!!! I'm sorry you had to move away from Texas. :( Think about us during the summer months, and I will be thinking about you in the cold winter. :) I've started training good...started again last night and it feels so good. I hope you have a blessed Easter weekend.

Thank you!! Same to you! :goodvibes

Believe it or not I loved the summers down there....I tend to thrive when it's 80* or higher. I mean no, I wouldn't want to do it without a/c!...but I so much more prefer the heat.

I'll keep subscribed to this thread and try to keep up with your progress! :yay:

Yes, I am the same way...I just don't handle cold weather very well. :) Thanks! I'm hoping the other ladies on this thread will pick back up and start posting more again. If you look at my signature, I have a weight loss journal...so I will be updating it often. :) I will be sure and add the temps to my postings so you'll feel more at home. Thanks again!!

Guess who still isn't running? :sad2:

I am planning to sign up for the Princess 5K though. Perhaps when I actually fork over the $$ will encourage me to put on the running shoes!

If it makes you feel any better, I am in the same boat. I just cannot seem to make myself get up and go to the gym or get outside and move. Not good. :( I certainly need to do something. I just need to find the energy to do it. Good luck on the Princess 5k...I hope it gets you up and moving. :goodvibes

I set a goal for next month to at least START. I am trying to focus on some short term goals in my life, since I am always long-term focused it seems a lot of the "daily" stuff gets left behind! So, next month is running. (along with making necessary doctor appointments and sending pictures to the family that they have been waiting MONTHS for! :headache:)

Well now here's a funny turn of events: Tubby - er, I mean Hubby - has started his own couch-to-5k campaign. DD is helping by "coaching" him from her skateboard. They're both tv-catholics who despise exercise. But now the two of them get out there together, while I nurse my latest lame (sorry, couldn't resist the pun) excuse for not even trying to jiggle my way around the park. Pathetic, I know. And now, SIL has signed us all up for a turkey trot - even MIL is in! Crazy, bcz MIL is allergic to even the thought of exercise. So there we have it. I gotta do it. I simply must do whatever it takes to do this 5k. Can't let MIL show me up!
Anyone else aiming for a holiday run? Or walk?
