Tiaras and Tantrums 08-- The Farewell. . . Will YOU join us next year?

Great to have everyone along to read--I hope I don't disappoint.

Do you have kids?
Do you like kids?
Have you ever been to WDW without your kids?

We all have kids, and like kids but really, really were enjoying our visit without them. But there is a rather strange phenomenon that happens when you are in WDW without yours. Most of the other kids around you all the sudden seem totally adorable. Cute little princesses in dresses, babies in strollers, little boys sword fighting, even those that are having a melt down. They are just so cute when they are not yours.

But especially with that last catagory, it was great to realize that those crying, screaming, foot stomping, arms crossed, overtired, over stimulated, and some just plain obnoxious little princes and princesses were not our responsibiliby. So in the spirit of those great seagulls

seagull.jpg

we began our own chant when we saw or heard these adorable little tykes having a tantrum. “NOT MINE!” So if you happened to be walking by and heard a group of women in Princess Ears saying “Not Mine”, “Not Mine”, Not Mine”, “Not Mine”, “Not Mine” it was us!

We seriously considered buying these t-shirts and adding the word NOT to it!

1606173399_dc8d4f90681.jpg

But we also had a great time visiting with some of these kids that were NOT ours. There was great birthday boy and his family at Fantasmic, a few boys I visited with while waiting for the boat at Epcot, numerous little girls that loved the sparkles on my scooter and others that almost made us wish we had brought our own.

When we planned our ADR's for this trip we knew that 50's Prime Time had to be at at the top of the list. Heck, it was the only place that OFFICIALLY didn't throw us out last year! What better place to start off on our first night. When we left The Great Movie Ride it had started to sprinkle but we don't melt so we set off towards the restaurant. Of course about 3/4 of the way there the sprinkle turned into a good Florida rain. We went ahead into the waiting area, and I took my scooter hoping the rain would let up before I had to park it outside. And it was so busy in there I wouldn't have had a place to sit down anyway so I needed it.

I parked myself where I thought I would be out of the way, on the right side of the waiting area between the bar and lobby area. Yeah, I probably couldn't have been more in the way! That ended up being where the hosts and hostesses stand to announce the names of those to be seated. (names have been changed to protect the innocent)

" MOM IS CALLING THE HUMPERDINK KIDS"

"MOM IS READY FOR THE ZEPERONI KIDS"

right in my ear! And we were hungry, so we thought maybe if those families weren't there then they would take us instead. So we decided to let each host and hostess know that those other kids wouldn't be available.

"MOM IS CALLING THE FUZZLE KIDS"
"Oh, they had to stay after school for detention. They're not here."

"MOM IS READY FOR THE MUMBLEFUMBLE KIDS"
"We just saw them playing outside in traffic."

"MOM IS READY FOR THE QUASI KIDS"
"They were just arrested on the playground. We heard it was drug related. So sad"

"MOM IS CALLING THE TUPLE KIDS"
"They decided to have dinner at Johnny's house."

Then something strange began to happen. Where the hosts and hostesses had been standing right next to us in the doorway calling this out -- and getting our very helpful feedback-- they began to walk all the way into the bar area. Heck they were going almost into the middle of the room before making their announcement. I guess Mom decided that with those kids taking so long to get to the doorway they would get closer to them and help walk with them out of the room. Isn't Disney customer service the best?!!

Eventually they called the TnT kids and since we are all good kids we were right there, fresh faced and ready to be taken to the table, much like one of Mom's other favorite kids:

At our table we met Cousin Laurie. She was so cute and sweet looking, we knew she was in for trouble! As it turns out she was a perfect fit for our group, she was a princess wannabe. In fact she told us that she actually emerged from the womb doing the princess wave! We introduced her to Queen Shuggie and she was suitably impressed to be in the presence of such royalty. I had bought a set of Princess Ears for Queen Shuggie and so we decided that Princess Laurie needed to borrow them. She loved them!

IMG_1961.jpg

Cousin Laurie took off to gloat over her new royal status in the kitchen and to her coworkers. Somewhere in there she did agree to take our drink and food orders. I don't even remember ordering. HOWEVER, I must point out one thing. THEY NO LONGER HAVE FRIED CHEESE! :sad1:  :sad2: This did not go over well with our group. Everytime we heard one of the servers around us asking their table if they would like to start with an appetizer we all yelled "YEAH, THE FRIED CHEESE!" Send your cards and letters people. It is just not the 50's Prime Time without the Fried Cheese.

There was a lovely family seated next to us. Mom, Dad, and 3 boys ranging in ages from about 6-12 ish. Well behaved--we never once had to say "NOT MINE". But the Mom was in awe of the fact that we had all left our children and husbands at home and come by ourselves. We tried to convince her to come and join us at Epcot for the Food and Wine festival but she seemed to feel she had to stick with her family for some reason. Party Pooper. As they got up to leave we again asked her to join us.

"You are welcome to come and play with us at Epcot tomorrow."

She said no and her husband said for us to have a drink for him while we were there. Kim, being the very sweet inviting person that she is then suggested that maybe HE would like to join us at Epcot!:rolleyes1 We didn't know Mom could move that fast. . . she grabbed his arm and pulled him out so fast we thought the place was on fire! Oh well. Hmmm, new victims-- I mean kids-- at the table next to us! And their server was nice enough to ask them if they would like an appetizer.

"FRIED CHEESE!"

A few more pics:

Kim ordered a Lemonaid something that came with a glowing ice cube. She seemed to have gotten a defective one and had to ask later if she could have another one.

Queen Shuggie prefers Chicken Legs so Phors was happy to share with her.
IMG_1962.jpg

Cousin Laurie brought over Uncle Jeffery for us to meet. He really loved her new Princess Ears and wanted to try them on for himself. I then let Laurie try on my original Princess Tiara from last year and she decided that she loved that much better and wore it for the rest of the night. So Jeffery got to try on the Princess Ears. We told him he made a beautiful Princess, but he then informed us that he was actually a Queen. O-kay, we understood that! BUT, then he back peddled and told us that he was actually one of the few straight guys that works there and that he is always having trouble convincing customers of that, but he is definitely straight. Since a picture is worth a 1000 words, we will let you all decide for yourselves.

IMG_1959.jpg

IMG_1960.jpg

Made up your mind yet? We'll get back to him later.

Much laughing and talking went on. It is hard to relate much of it back since of course half of it is only funny if you were there, and the other half isn't DIS appropriate!;) We did find out from overhearing a server behind us helping out a customer that you go out at the EXIT sign. Yep. Who would have thunk it. Apparently they a lot of very confused patrons that have no idea that they need to head to the EXIT sign when they want to leave. Again, isn't Disney customer service great?! We decided to help out too and whenever we saw someone get up we pointed and showed them the Exit sign so they wouldn't get lost. :teeth:

Also, if any of you that went last year are reading this, like Merle. We got in a fight with the SAME server we did last year! Remember the one we fought with over what drink it was? This time she was carrying a big stack of things and dropped a large metal something and it made a hellacious noise. We all jumped and comments were said. She yelled back at us "you try carrying all this stuff!" and a brief "discussion" ensued. I would have loved to get her photo with Flat Shuggie but frankly, I am a bit scared of her!

Cousin Laurie was unhappy about my inability to finish my veggie from my pot roast. I did pick out the carrots, but I can't stand onions. But Kim and I had a brilliant plan, she had a lot of noodles left on her plate so we put the veggies in there an covered it with the noodles and a napkin. BRILLIANT! If it hadn't been for the SNITCH--you KNOW who you are!-- that told Laurie to check the plate. So she decided to feed that nasty onion concoction to me.

IMG_1963.jpg

It didn't stay in though! I really HATE onions so decided that they were going back in the napkin!
IMG_1964.jpg

So Laurie decided it was time to put our Princessness to work. She asked if we knew any good jokes. Mike and I were both able to come up with some so we were told to go and tell them to the other tables. Darn, I can't remember her joke--Kim or Phors will have to chime in. It was something about a Zombie. Mine was:

Why did the chicken cross the playground?

To get to the other slide!

Hey, I never said I was a comedian! Here we are visiting the other tables with Flat Shuggie:

IMG_1966.jpg

IMG_1967.jpg

I don't remember why were were dancing???
IMG_1968.jpg

This was a large extended family and there one of those odd anomalies that you really only seem to find at WDW-- several of the children apparently were ALL born on the same day! I think 3 of them were wearing birthday buttons. Has anyone else noticed how many families there are at WDW where Mom seems to managed to give birth to all of her kids on the exact same day, different years?? I wonder what the odds are of that??;)

Cousin Lauri brought us our check and then it was time to figure out who owed what. But first we had to educate the Princess. Sorry for the photo, but there were 2 reciepts in the folder. On one she had marked "MINE" and the other said "YOURS". I promptly scratched that out and corrected her-- "NOT MINE".

IMG_1970.jpg

This became a ritual after every meal-- cell phone calculators, fingers, pen and paper, new math, old math, a little trigonometry, and we have the exact amount everyone owes. Well, approximately. Kind of. Close enough. Since this was the first night we were still perfecting the math and ended up a few dollars short. So Phors was calling for more money. "Another dollar. One more dollar. Everyone throw another dollar in." The next thing we knew, the table next to us threw a dollar on our table! :rotfl2: The first time we have been paid to leave!!! Actually they were really cool and we enjoyed talking with them. We tried to give the dollar back but they insisted. So of course we had to get a photo:

IMG_1965.jpg

Flat Shuggie was introduced to the manager:

IMG_3318.jpg

He didn't really want his photo taken but we insisted. And Jeffery decided that he needed the Princess Ears:

IMG_3316.jpg

IMG_1703.jpg

IMG_3317.jpg

(Jeffery may not be working there anymore!)

After we paid we were still relaxing at the table and Laurie and Jeffery pulled up some chairs and joined us--hey the Princess and the Queen are entitled right?! Jeffery sat next to Phors and really was enjoying her company. And on several occasions during the night he had come by and given her a shoulder rub. Queen or straight? He seemed to have started the night a Queen, but it appeared he was infatuated by Phors and she may have made him straight! But he told us about a previous customer that was nagging on him about the outfit he has to wear-- light blue pants and the pastel yellow apron. Of course the standard answer there is that is what Mom laid out for him to wear that day. The lady told him that he should tell mom he needed a new wardrobe. But he looked at her with a black and white dress and a pastel handbag and told her that with that combination she had no right to judge his fashion. Amidst the :lmao: I told him that if he was really trying to convince people he was straight he really shouldn't tell that story!:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

We eventually decided that maybe we should leave. And I am very happy to report that we had no problems finding our way out-- we just headed for the EXIT!

Chicken! :sad2: She signed our letter didn't she?:thumbsup2

OMG! Absolutely hilarious! Believe it or not I've never been to Prime Time. Of course, it would never be the same without you all!

Chicken! :sad2: She signed our letter didn't she?:thumbsup2

No. This is a different one. The one that signed the letter was the loud and fun one--rather young. The one we had the fight with was an older woman, and kind of had that "fighting" look to her. She had come by when we were talking about Phors drink last year and started yelling at us about what it was and somehow it turned into an argument. She said she was a bartender. Remember?

Oh, I totally forgot. Mom from last year was there still! And when we ordered dessert I told Laurie that I STILL wanted to try the Angel Food Cake with berries, but if she happened to find mine from last year still sitting around the kitchen I didn't want it anymore! She was nice enough to bring me a fresh one so I actually got to eat it this year!

But Laurie had her "Mom" minute. When we paid everyone had cash and I was paying with my Disney Rewards Card. I told Laurie to put $25 on it. When she brought the reciept back I saw that she had CLEARED my card! Now Laurie was a GREAT server, and we left her a very generous tip, but I was not planning on my part of the tip being $50! She fixed it as soon as I showed it to her. We truly believe it was an honest mistake but it also made for a good running joke all week!

FYI gals, I checked. The one that didn't throw us out from last year was Nicole!

We had great time but we had some Heavenly beds waiting for us back at the hotel. Everyone was looking forward to them!

IMG_3325.jpg

Did I miss anything else from day 1 girls? I am thinking we must have done something between leaving 50's and going to bed????

If not then we will move on to Epcot.

I have a confession to make.

We are BAD DISers. :sad2:

We have all been here for years. We have read all the boards: Budget, Tips, Attractions and Stratagies, Families, Dining, Resorts, and all the rest. We all have been faithful to our lists, or planning, our touring plans and making sure we had all we needed.

But not this time. We failed as overplanned, overpacked, overstressed DISers.

Between the 5 of us, not ONE LGMH. Everyone forgot them. And despite the forecast clearly calling for rain we all left our Dollar Store ponchos at home. :sad2: I didn't even have our ADR information written down--it was all still on my computer. We beg for forgiveness and hope that there is a DIS remedial program we can join so that we can be reeducated in all that has to be done before a Disney trip.

But I did bring my sunscreen that I had bought at WDW last year! ;)

So Friday morning we were all up and getting dressed and waiting for Mrzrich to join us. She lives somewhat locally so she was able to get away for one night. We all call her Taz , so henceforth I shall refer to her as that. She called and was almost there so I suggested we go on to the gift shop and get some required supplies and meet her there. Our Princess Ears were just not staying on and needed some hair clips, and we all needed ponchos.

Taz joined up with us and she HAD brought her poncho--an old WDW one, not a Dollar Store one though. We had to introduce her to Flat Shuggie:

IMG_1708.jpg

We bought them out of hair clips and each got a poncho. We spent a good 15 minutes or more figureing out the best way to get the clips on to the hats and get them to hold tight. Finally we were all looking beautiful, hats were secured without a hair out of place and it was time to take the boat to Epcot!

IMG_0774.jpg

It was a beautiful Florida day:rolleyes:

IMG_1973.jpg

IMG_0776.jpg

We were just about inside the International Gateway in Epcot when the rain started again. And we found out something we hadn't thought about. Apparently Mickey's poncho designers never took his ears into consideration! 15 minutes of careful work to get those Princess Ears on secure and beautiful and there is no way to get those darn ponchos over our heads! As usual we have to decide between practicality and beauty. It was raining harder, so practical won. Well except for me. I was not going to let that poncho get the best of me! After some struggling I managed to get it first over one ear then the other. The hood wouldn't go over it, but I mainly needed the poncho to cover my scooter seat and my legs. You don't realize just how wet and uncomfortable your legs can get in the rain when you are sitting.

We spent most of the rest of the day playing this game:
(sung to the tune of the Clap On commercial)

Ponchos on.
Ponchos off.
Ponchos on, ponchos off.
Stupid Ponchos!

Eventually the rest started just sort of tying them around them to make it easier. That didn't work for me since I was trying to keep my scooter and legs dry, so I left it on.

IMG_1983.jpg

Our first order of the day was to get those nifty new gift cards that go on your wrist to make it faster going through the food lines. They were great, but the wrist band was really much to small for the typical wrist. They were quite tight.

IMG_2012.jpg

But it was too big for Flat Shuggie's wrist so we found a better place for her to carry it!

IMG_2013.jpg

We didn't take a bunch of photos of the foods. You can find all that on the Food Porn threads on the Restaurants board. We did have some favorites and not so great things. We loved the perogies and kelbasa, the potstickers, the beer and cheese soup, lamb chop, and our absolute favorite was the Beef and Cheese Polenta in San Francisco.

Taz decided to be daring and try sushi for the first time. She ordered the California Rolls.

IMG_0777.jpg

Unfortunately this photo was taken about a 1/2 second off of her real reaction!

IMG_0778.jpg

Because her real reaction looked more like this: :crazy2: Needless to say she decided not to finish it. None of us wanted to so it was dumped out. Sorry to all your Sushi lovers out there!

Some other photos:

Shuggie enjoyed some Beer Cheese Soup
IMG_1980.jpg

And then she had a sip of beer and was drunk for the rest of the day. She just couldn't hold her alcohol. .

IMG_1979.jpg

Someone remind me who this was? I am guessing maybe from Australia?

IMG_1981.jpg

We made it about 1/2 way around the World Showcase and were full so we decided to move on to Future World. I'll be back with that later.

what is a LGMH?

woodleygrrl = Lime Green Mickey Heads!!! :thumbsup2 Easily secured from your local HD or Home Depot!!! :goodvibes

Great Update, Scrappy!!! What fun you all had!!! You are all HYSTERICAL!!!

That photo in EPCOT with that family of four looking at you and your TIARA's while eating the soup!!!!! :rotfl2:

Mike's joke at Prime Time.....what is a zombie's favorite street? A dead end.

I have to add that most mom's gave us such a look of longing and jealousy we started inviting everyone along. I suggest we make business cards up next year to pass out inviting them to our thread so they can join in......

Of course....I think it's still in debate whether I will be invited back next year. :confused3

Oh and that dude you didn't remember Scrappy was a manager walking into the Canada stand as we were leaving and he commented on our tiaras. Or maybe we were laughing hysterically at the moment....not sure. He was a good sport.

See? I can remember early in the day what went on......don't ask me about that night tho!

It started at Epcot.

The looks.

The comments.

5 women walking around (okay, 4 walking, 1 scooting) with bright pink Mickey Ears that say Disney Princess and have a sparkly tiara and pink veil. It was VERY obvious what was going on to all those around us. I am sure it was the PINK part that gave it away. Cause everyone knows that they sell those special ears for very special occasions.

"CONGRATULATIONS!"

"Oh, who is getting married?"

"Are you all getting married?"

"Are you all a bridal shower?"

"Is this a bachlorette party?"

PINK! Brides wear white! Mickey sells white for those getting married. Our ears say exactly what we are-- Princesses! But for the rest of the week we had to keep explaining that we were not getting married. At one point Mike went into the bathroom and was told "CONGRATULATIONS!" She told us she really wanted to tell the woman she didn't need to be congratulated for finding the bathroom all by herself!

Sometimes we just smiled and said "Thanks".

So no, we aren't getting married. We all already are married, which is a good part of the reason why we need these annual girls only get aways!;)

Haha...this has been hysterical! I love that people kept congradulating you :)

Oh, and the beef and polenta from San Fran was my favorite dish as well!! YUM!!! My friend and I split one the first day we did F&W, then went back and each got one on the second day!

I believe it is worthwhile to add that the weather, although on and off rain was warm. It was too warm to wear the ponchos really.

And I ate snails.

I forgot about the snails. I think I was blocking! :crazy2:

It was humid and icky. And the rain would just start and stop for a few minutes so it was kind of a pain. But there were NO lines for any of the F&W booths and the place was so dead it was great! Great time to be out touring as long as you didn't mind being a little wet.

It picked up as it got later and the rain moved off.
