Tiana's Bayou Adventure Opening Day

I really hope its not VQ

Its just not a great system for this ride....like even if they last 30 seconds what a joke for families coming here and paying now 200 bucks for a day and to miss it

Just let people stand in line...don't understand why its an issue to let people stand in line

Demand will outstrip the queue space available. I think it will only be on VQ through the holidays because weather will likely damper some of the demand.

Splash was fine in 1989 with no Lightning Lane/Lightning Lane Premier/Lightning Lane Multi Pass/Fast Pass/Fast Pass Plus/etc....
Yes line went across park but Standby only and crowds eventually slowed down after couple weeks.

I know it's a different time now. I miss the days of fast moving standby lines that never stopped, and being able to walk into a restaurant and eat if hungry without 120 days of advanced planning. Thankfully can still use bathrooms when needed.

Restroom Multi Pass Deluxe with Hand Wash Plus add on coming in 2025 ;) :)

I was looking forward to checking out the ride on my upcoming trip, but I'm not interested in getting soaked, especially in Dec. I'm fine with waiting.

Also coming soon: *Premier Lightning Lane Restroom Pass with Hand Wash Ultra, just $200 per day per guest. Add bonus personalized souvenir hand towel (limit of 1 per guest) for just $250 per day!

*Must be combined with Premier Lightning Lane Pass
Will include 2-ply toilet paper and paper towels (instead of blowers) to dry hands.

Edit to add: And an auto-flush that doesn't flush while you are still seated! :scared:

Kinda feeling the same! We go thanksgiving week and I don’t want to get soaked !!

Same here! We are local and if it is warm, I will go for a MK preview. But if not, we will skip it. We did ride it at WDW last month. It may be next summer before I ride it at DL. We hate getting wet and I often skip pirates in the winter months too.

Splash can run its Q alllll the way out front unless Disney was for some reason dumb enough to take that out, it can run over the bridge to HM.

Let people wait is my vote, tickets are now 200 bucks on some days let people get on the rides they paid for...those who want to wait do it and those who pay for LL can save some time

Tiana's MK previews (VQ) start on Monday. If no one reports back before then, I'll be at the parks next weekend and will try for both Tiana's and HMH VQs.
We linked our MK and had multiple people trying for a Tiana's VQ at 7 am. One person was successful and was able to book a VQ for the rest of the party. They immediately went to book HMH and got group #40. The app now shows an estimated call back time which really helps. It also gave us a 10 min warning so we knew when to start walking back to NOS.

We've been on vacation so it has been quite a while since we've been in the parks. It was so nice to see the area open again. It will be nice when they also take down the walls between HM and Tiana's Palace.

My thoughts on the ride: They really need lockers next to this ride. Changing rooms would also be nice. The tables below Hungry Bear, and the restroom were packed with people changing clothes and shoes. Many people going on the ride were wearing flip flops or crocs. I changed into running shorts. Some guests wore ponchos.

In the end, regardless of where people sat in the log, everyone was drenched. It wasn't from the big drop, but there is one drop inside the dark bayou where they basically dump water into the log from the right. I'm 5'7" and was wet from my armpits to my feet. It took hours to dry. One person in our party was wearing Gortex shoes and a rain jacket but that didn't help. IMO, this was MUCH more wet than Splash Mountain.

The animatronics were great, but I thought there were several areas that felt empty or incomplete. There was a lot to see in the beginning but in between the big drop and the party, there was very little to look at. Also, after the party scene, when you make a U turn, Splash had more characters and animatronics. Tiana's does not. I'm curious how this compares to the WDW version.

Edit to add: We ate at Hungry Bear BBQ. This was the line at 11:15 am. Fortunately, we mobile ordered. I'll post pics of the food in the dining review thread.

We also went on the train. The window into Tiana's Bayou was closed. :guilty:

Thanks for that thorough description! That's a shame that they don't have any characters after the 'U'. Maybe they'll add some in, fingers crossed.

I absolutely hate getting drenched so I'll definitely wait on this one until hot weather and even then I'm iffy on that. I despise getting drenched. I'm ashamed to say that once I had a literal tantrum when our raft spun around on GRR in perfect time to put me directly in the path of a giant wave. It was a cold day, my jeans and sweatshirt were literally sopping wet, and I behaved rather poorly about it. My dh and girls were trying desperately not to laugh as I stormed off to the hotel to change my clothes (luckily, we were staying at GCH). So I'm thinking that unless it's hot, I have a change of clothes, and I'm wearing a full-body plastic suit, this might not be something I'll be trying out :scared:.

Grizzly is right next to GCH so it is relatively easy to get back to your room and change clothes. Tiana's, on the other hand, is quite a trek. If they had lockers, people could bring a change of clothes (and shoes and socks). Our backpacks were on our laps and were drenched as well. The person in the very front had her portable charger in a zipped Loungefly. She took a tidal wave of a hit from the front and the side. Her backpack was so drenched that water got into the charging port of the portable charger and it no longer works.

I'm pretty relaxed about getting wet, but this was excessive.

The last time I rode Splash I brought a ziplock bag to put my phone in. I intend to do that again.

Thanks for the detailed review! It's a a bummer to hear that the ride feels a bit empty. Is it true they got rid of all the America Sings animatronics? It seems like they could have spruced some up for background ambiance.

Ugh and why oh why do they think people want to get that drenched?! Who likes walking around in squishy shoes or having to lug around a pair of sandals to change into? Off to read your Hungry Bear BBQ review now! 😁

I was looking but couldn't find any. Maybe there is a sleuth out there who can find them. Based on the Imagineering presentation at D23, Tiana's animatronics are all electronic. Splash, and America Sings, were hydraulic. I'm not sure if they combine the two types of animatronics on attractions.

Honestly, there didn't seem to be very many different characters. I saw Tiana, Mama Odie, and Louis, a few times. Eudora, Naveen, Charlotte and Eudora each appeared once (that I noticed). There were a couple of critter bands, several frogs, and quite a bit of video. Personally, mixing animatronics and video in attractions throws me off. It makes it less immersive for me. IMO, Disney Imagineering should have been able to create a firefly illusion that wasn't video.

Regarding getting wet. I've read a few places that they are still tweaking it. I have no idea if that is true or if it is just fan speculation.

We got to ride Tiana’s at WDW last month a few times. Definitely a different experience there. We just got a little splash in the face, more like a mist…. And the weather was hot, so we would have been ok with a little more than a splash. But I don’t think we will even attempt to ride Disneyland’s version when we head down in a few weeks. That looks miserable to me. We’ve been drenched before from Disneyland’s splash mountain during the winter months and I swear I got pneumonia after 🤣. Problem is we are travelling with friends who have never been before. I’ll let them ride while we sit off with a nice gingerbread cookie instead! 🤪

We had the same experience at WDW when it was splash mtn. Just barely a mist.

The last time we rode splash at DL, my youngest sat in the front and was completely drenched. To the point that he would no longer ride splash, which was his favorite ride. It was a warm time of year and he took all day to dry. I assumed they would have fixed this issue while the ride was closed….

We are also going with friends that haven’t been in awhile. I don’t plan on riding unless something drastic changes. Nothing worse than wet shoes and socks.

My adult daughter and I rode the old Splash at DL a couple of years ago in May. We had the front two seats and got absolutely drenched. Thankfully it was a warm day so most of our clothes and shoes dried out quickly but my daughter had denim shorts on and were wet ALLLL day. She was so uncomfortable it spoiled her day. As much as I would love to experience this new ride there is no way we will be riding it this December.
