Let me first say I love Tiana and it's one of my favorite Disney movies probably in top 5. I rode the ride last week for the first time and Im just not a fan. Of course I love the drops and will still ride it every time we go probably numerous times. The story line is just weird to me and the biggest thing is and I said it awhile back how in the world do you not have Dr Facilier going up toward the drop with his song playing? I just feel like this plan/story line is terrible. I was very disappointed with them getting rid of Splash but I eventually got over it and I'm fine with it now. I'm fine with the ride being Tiana. I'll ride it over and over next trip like I said. I would just love to know who sat down in a room and came up with this ride. Could have been so much better!

I actually have the opposite opinion.
I like the movie but its not my favorite.
I loved Splash Mountain but admit that after riding it for the first time 2 weeks ago I like it much more than I anticipated.
So much so I rode it again.
I do wish Dr Facilier was in it but you have to realize its a new storyline vs just the movie played out in ride form.
I would have LOVED it if it were the movie in ride form.

I loved Splash but we got stuck on it a few years back and listening to the same lines over and over again it became very clear how problematic that ride was.

I love Tiana and think they did a really good job on the re-theme. I actually like it better than Splash. I was rode it last week and was saying to my son how crazy it is, though, that there is no villian in the story. I think they could have used Dr. Facilier in some way, even if it wasn't just a movie re-telling.

My thought on that is Dr. Facilier is dead so they can’t really use him 😂 but I guess that’s the problem with telling a “story” that takes place after the movie. I also love Tiana’s but I agree that the story isn’t all that great and there’s no suspense whatsoever

So I don't hate the ride or think it's the worst thing ever like a lot of people do (I can think of a few rides that are worse than this) but I do think it's a disappointment. It didn't quite hit the mark and I think Tiana deserved a better ride as I love Princess and the Frog. I rode Splash in Japan last year and in my mind, I was like yeah this is just the superior ride IMO.

The biggest problem with the ride is they tried way to hard. Splash mountain was a fairly basic ride but there was a ton to look at and you felt immersed in the ride. They spent waaaaay too much on the animatronics(which are next level) instead of just making an immersive ride with basic set design. All they had to do was keep it simple like Splash Mountain but they just couldn't do that and now you have an over engineered ride that breaks fairly frequency. I don't get too crazy about storylines so that part doesn't bother me one way or the other.

I totally agree, OP. They missed such a great opportunity to have Dr. Faciler and his song at the drop.

I guess I’m fine with the storyline of going to the party. Mostly. I do like the end with the party and all the characters greeting us. But It took me two times on the ride to understand the story of what was happening. My daughter had to point out to me that Mama Odie shrunk us for the Bayou and made us big again to go to the party. Why?? I don’t get it. I feel like you have to work too hard to pay attention to what is happening. They tried too hard to invent a new story when really just following the storyline of the movie would have been better and easier to follow. They do this in the little mermaid and Nemo rides. Not sure why they felt they needed to do something different here.

I rode this a few times on my last visit and genuinely could not tell you what the story was, I found it so forgettable and uninteresting. Admittedly the film isn't one of my faves or one I've seen often, but it's been a very long time since I rode Splash and yet can still remember the story and the music.

Personally I don't think the theming and enjoyment of Tiana is helped by the ride not flowing without stop/starting due to too many logs going round (at least thats how it was when I went). Having to sit at the bottom of a hill in a jam while 5 other logs go up first kinda destroys the ambience. Of course its been that long since I went on Splash, that could've had similar problems!

I'd loved Splash Mountain, but surprisingly I enjoyed the Tiana re-theme more than I expected. It seemed bright and cheery, and it still had my favorite part-the drop!

While I think it's pretty good the way they did it, I do think it could have been better if it were more the story of the movie. I mean, Dr. Facilier is very cool and any excuse to use Kieth David's incredible voice is always good. I have only ridden it once, and it didn't quite click fo rme, but when I rewatched a ridethrough, I felt better of it. I think it takes a few goes to warm up to, and that's okay. At this point it is what it is, so, you know, I'll just enjoy it for what it is, and not lament what it is not.

I loved Splash Mountain and was sad to hear I wouldn't get a chance to ride it again but was definitely not one of those people with torches and pitchforks ready to blast the retheme to Tiana. I was excited to see something new. I rewatched the movie last year and didn't really care for it, it just didn't grasp me. I feel the same thing about the ride - it's cute, I'll ride it every time I go if I can, but it doesn't feel like a must-do like Splash Mountain to me.
