Hi all!
I had an ultrasound done in June and because of a mix up with the results not being sent to my Dr I never heard back until I asked at my Sept appt. I had figured no news was good news but I guess not always. So glad I asked. Please everyone be your own best advocate, ask questions, be informed and never just assume no news is always good news.
They found nodules on both my left & right lobes. I had the largest one biopsied in Oct. The results were inconclusive so I had to have the right side of my thyroid removed this past December. I spent 1 day in the hospital and then was home for 2 weeks. The surgery was not too bad for me. I was able to talk right off and eat (although swallowing hurt a little).
Two weeks later I got the final biopsy results. Everything was benign

I just had my post op blood work done and I don't need to take any synthroid. I have to have yearly check ups to make sure the nodules on the left aren't growing.
The Dr.s swear that a benign nodule on 1 lobe had nothing to do with the syptoms I was seeing my GP for before surgery but I have never felt better! I was in a "brain fog", was tired all the time, headaches, and other symptoms but now I feel great!
Want to let everyone know that there is a Thyroid thread on the JUST FOR FUN area of Disboards. It is in the
coping and compassion section. The people there have done their homework about thyroid conditions and are willing to answer questions or point you in the right direction. It is very informative.
