If the points for these ends up being the same as the 2-bedroom at SSR...I think I'd have to consider buying at SSR! I've got 440 pts at Boardwalk, but I am positively drooling over the Treehouses, and I know those 60 are going to be gone long before I can book them. If they cost the same as a 2-bedroom, that's the clincher.
These things sound as if they were designed specifically for me and my family/friends. For many years, we had an annual family/friends gathering at the Cabins at Fort Wilderness, and love the quiet, woodsy, retreat feeling of those. Once we got into
DVC, even though our party is rarely ever more than 4 people to a villa, we still feel slightly cramped by a 2-bedroom villa, but never felt like the Grand villas were worth it for 4 people. Our main problem is that none of us want to sleep in the same room - we all want our privacy! We are all adults, all single, and mixed sexes - family and friends - sharing a place. With the 2-bedroom, we have to put two people in one room, one in the other, and one gets the living room. But with the Treehouse design, 3 separate bedrooms and a living room with sleeping accomodations is absolute perfection (as would be a Grand Villa...but those cost so much more).
And of course the history - having stayed in the old Treehouses when I was a kid! And I stayed in the big villas that later became Disney Institute that later got replaced by SSR...though they were indeed ugly, they were huge inside and that was the first experience with having a resort close enough to walk to Marketplace. Though the Pleasure Island music and fireworks back in the early days were quite loud from there - they weren't built as solid and soundproof as SSR, and Pleasure Island had alot more late-night and outdoor music back then.
With the treehouses, we could get our woodsy retreat back, spend points for a 2-bedroom but everyone in the group gets their own room, and still get our lovely boats to downtown disney...I want one!
BLT sounds neat, and modern, and brutally expensive if early points rumours are to be believed...and I'd certainly like to try it (I like to stay at all the DW DVC resorts at least once)...but it's the Treehouses that shivers me timbers!
