I'm really torn on being close to the boats as feel it would be nice to be able to see them / hear the horns, but would also like to be close to the quiet pool so DS (13) can go off to it if he wants, ahead of us.

Can anyone put any real perspective on the distance and areas of them please, or suggest where to request.

We're planning on using the car to get to all the parks, but the boat to get over to Disney Springs.

Thank you :)

Send your room location request to MS via the contact form on the member website. Online check in is a product made for cash guests and often the room request section does not fully apply to DVC rooms.

The quiet pool and boat dock are pretty close to one another. When we stayed at THV (in villa 7003, IIRC) we could walk to the boat or pool in under 10 minutes. You can also ride the bus from the northern stop to the southern stop, then walk the short distance to the pool.

We like being at the south end near the pool, boat dock, and walkway to SSR.

We prefer the more southern buildings:
Pros: Close to quiet pool (you can probably have it to yourself most times, close to the boat launch, and close to the trail to SSR main buildings. (Basically, the only pro I have to being a North building is that you're closer to the entrance/exit)
Cons: Takes longer to get to your building and in your car you could get stuck behind the buses (only a couple of minutes though)

My request would read "Unit close to SSR path, Golf course view preferred".

I wouldn't want a unit on the river/canal too close to the boat docks because the horns are so loud. They blow them every time they arrive and leave and they run pretty late too. This could be an issue if you have little ones taking naps during the day.

My number one recommendation to people staying at SSR THV's is to not drive to MK. Don't bother with the internal bus transfer to the main resort, but walk over to the Grandstand area to pick up the normal SSR park bus. It's the first pickup (so you'll get a seat) and the first drop-off. Grandstand is just across the golf course and is a short walk. It's best to do this walk the first time during the daytime.

Another Con that I've heard (but never encountered) is the parking situation. Each villa only has 1 parking spot and they aren't numbered. Inconsiderate people can fill the spots leaving you nowhere close to park. You can park over at the Grandstand area if this happens. Last I heard Disney doesn't follow up with enforcing the 1 vehicle rule. We never had this problem, but be prepared.

1 parking spot for a unit that sleeps 9, what clever planning. Also keep an eye open for snakes and alligators around the villas and water ways.

This. We did this once during our stay. It was a nice walk across the fairway to the THVs.

The internal bus is pretty slow. We had reservations for HDDR at FW. We left our THV two hours before the dinner show. One hour later, and we were still on SSR property, picking up tons of other parties, many also going to HDDR. One group had three people with scooters / wheelchairs, so that really slowed us down.

Worried that we would miss our reservation, I tweeted to WDW, expressing my frustration with the situation. A few minutes later, the bus dispatcher radioed our bus. Dispatch told the driver to drop anyone not going to HDDR at DTD, and then to take everyone else immediately to FW. I was pleasantly surprised. The driver announced what was happening; around 8 people got off at DTD. All others were headed to FW.

Oh my! My family of four (kids 18 and 22) are staying in the THVs between Christmas and New Years. I want to be at RD at least 30 minutes prior to a park opening, and if MK opens at 8 am, how the heck are we going to get there? I am thinking maybe for our MK day, we take Uber since we will need to be out of the Villa no later than 6 am.

Most days, the internal bus was just fine. We never waited more than five minutes for a bus to pick us up from THVs. Once dropped off at The Springs, it didn't take too long to get a bus to a park.

HOWEVER, if being there for rope drop is important, I wholeheartedly recommend a tax or Uber / Lyft. We loved the THV, but if we stay there again, we will have a rental car.

Thank you very much. It will be extremely busy when we are there, I am thinking renting a car may actually be a mistake since it will take SOO long to get into the parks to park. I'll be there for a week but for the only three park days I will have, I think we will Uber/Lyft to the park an if we want, just take a bus back.
Have you/anyone used Uber/Lyft for very early in the morning to the parks? Do they run and where would the car actually pick us up?

I want to be by the boat docks since most of our nights will be spend at DTD. Where exactly do I request.

Thank you and all so much!

I have not. I can provide some information regarding pickup. Disney will allow cars (we ordered pizza one night) into the THV, but they will first call you to confirm you are expecting the vehicle. The driver will need to use the intercom at the gate. SSR security will then call your THV to verify. My guess is that the ride share will drop you off at the TTC.

You should be able to request "near boat dock." The dock is closer to the southern end of the THV area, on the west side.

Thanl you very much for your detailed responses. May I please ask you what you mean "the ride share" would drop us at TTC. Do you mean Iber/Lyft/taxi cant drop me off at MK or Epcot or AL/MGM?

Thanks.

I used "ride share" instead of assigning a brand (Uber / Lyft / etc.). I'm not sure what's available in the Lake Buena Vista area.
