Thunderstorms :(

It also helps to remember that "80% chance of storms" does not mean that it will rain for 80% of the day, or it will rain over 80% of the forecast area, or there's an 80% chance it will rain all day and all night.

It means that there is an 80% chance that there will be at least one storm, somewhere in the forecast area. That storm could be 10 minutes long, or only be over MK, and that would still be an accurate forecast.

Which is pretty much the typical daily summer forecast in Central FL. One or two very localized, brief storms. Sometimes not even over a whole theme park. I've stood in bright sunshine in Canada in Epcot, and watched it rain on Mexico.

This exactly! You explained it perfectly Lynne M! :)

Yup, she took the words right out of my mouth! I think a lot of people tend to associate the percentage as being what percentage of the day will have rain. That is definitely not what it means!

I can validate this one - Test Track is definitely closed during the thunderstorm.
Well, yes... and no. The last time we went, while on TT a thunderstorm and down pour hit Epcot. Our family was in two cars, with me and a couple of kids in front. When the outside doors opened I could see the rain coming down... and off we went! A short while later they hit the "stop" button and my wife and rest of the family got to exit their car that was still inside the building and use the back-stage stairs to exit the attraction. But for us, the ride continued. Once you start outside, it's full speed ahead... rain and lightning and all. I was in the front seat and ducked my head down to use the windshield as a rain screen. It worked half-way decent as I wasn't completely soaked by the experience.

If one of the rides you have a FP for closes, they will usually let you come anytime later in the day.

I usually just put on my poncho and keep going at Disney World. Some things do close like the outdoor rides when it rains hard or there is thunder and lightening but there iare alot of indoor things to do as well.

It could be worse - you could be doing a beach only trip with an 60% + chance of rain everyday this weekend like me. I'm currently looking for indoor stuff to do just in case the beach is a washout.
