Happy Monday Everyone-

So my husband and I are headed down to California tomorrow evening (can't wait!) I keep checking the weather and it seems that every day that I check, the temperatures are lower. It is now showing that there will be thunderstorms wednesday night and thursday. We are okay with the rain (we are from Oregon) but unsure about the thunderstorms. We will appreciate smaller crowds possibly, but will many rides close down if it is raining hard or if there are thunderstorms? We were hoping to ride all of the rides before the weekend when it is supposed to be super busy. Also we want to see WOC wednesday or thursday (we have never seen it before) because on friday we will be a the halloween party and saturday we want to see the fireworks and shows at disneyland.

Any idea how the rain and thunderstorms will affect our trip?

Thanks!

I've been to DL once in the rain, and I didn't notice that anything was closed. Be sure you have a waterproof jacket so you can stay dry.

Thunderstorms are very unusual in Southern CA, but I am sure they have a plan for them that probably involves shutting down outside rides. But that is just a guess. Hopefully, someone else has actual experience with thunderstorms while at Disneyland will answer too.

You should be fine. The local news (abc7.com) only has 30% chance of rain, so it probably won't. They have a chance of thunderstorms only in the local mountains, so no worries at Disneyland. It should be great for you as the record heat we have just cooled down from was miserable. Enjoy your trip!

Even if there are thunderstorms, they pass very quickly in CA.(last 30 min. usually at the most) Fantasmic! usually doesn't run if there is bad weather...b/c of the characters running the risk of slipping on the island into the river and mechancial things not working right would be my guess. Since WOC doesn't use CMs they will most likely run it rain or shine. As a PP said, make sure you do have a good rain proof jacket, and a change of socks and shoes might be good too if it is pouring. :thumbsup2

I heard the most of the "rain" is going to hit on Wednesday and Thursday.

Is it still 30-40% chance of rain/thunderstorms on Thursday? That is what it is saying on MSN, anything different for local reports?

From the 12z model, it doesn't look like we'll get much at all:

It is raining her in Orange, CA. It will be raining most of the day today.

Looks like we didn't get much rain after this morning. But, it's a beautiful day out there today. Enjoy the cool weather while it lasts. The MJO is showing warm air returning, however not hot like it was 10 days ago.

I'm so glad it's not getting that hot again. I hate the hot weather.

We were near Big Thunder Jamboree and it started raining pretty steady around 4:00 or so. Not real hard, but hard enough. We're back at the hotel after being there from 9:30 a.m.

It was perfect there before that but at times looked like it could start raining any minute. It was windy in places and a bit chilly.

Just walked outside and it is still raining.

When we go, we usually have a thunderstorm plan. I am on a mobility scooter and rolling around on 80 lbs. of metal in a thunderstorm is SO not happening. Generally, if we're in DCA, we go to the Animation area and hit Turtle Talk and all of those--we love that place, and if we save it for the rain, it works out well. In Disneyland, we go to Innoventions. Both places will keep you busy for a good long while, and keep you out of the storm.

by sunday its going to be back up in the mid 80's and then drop one day and on Wed it will be around 86 but by next Sat. its supposed to go back down into the 70s...this is why people in CA get sick so much...this wishy washy weather cant make up its dang mind and is NEVER predictable....from year to year its different...last year at this same time same week it was mid 80s no cloudy rainy nothing (it usually doesnt rain) and then out of the blue BAM it was like over 100 for 2 days then dropped down back into the 80s for one day and then to the 70's the rest of the time...and next week its supposed to be mid 80s all week and then weekend will drop down to 70s...last year??? same week...it was all 70s straight through...so this is why I never tell people what the average weather here is because anyone that lives in CA knows there is no such thing as average weather anymore. You just have to do what we do and start checking a few days out and continue to check every day up until you leave because it could change in the blink of an eye
