So checking the forecast for this Friday at DLR not only calls for some showers, but also a thunderstorm. I know that only several attractions close in the rain if needed, but what happened when it thunders? Are any other attractions closed?

I know it doesn’t thunder much in So Cal, so it’s probably not a big deal, but I just want to see if anything is different when it thunders.

Thanks! :)

Courtney, have fun. Wish I could be there with you!!!! I don't know about thunderstorms, I just wanted to say have fun! :)

I don't know about any rides shutting down, but it would be so cool to be in DL during a thunderstorm! We hardly ever get any here, so I always run outside with the boy when they happen, just to enjoy it... it would be so fun to be running around DL :)

Thank you, Kerri Berri! I wish you guys were coming this weekend too! I'll be thinking of you while I watch Jedi Training Academy and see the Storm Troopers!! :lovestruc

Wouldn't it be fun? I'm looking forward to the rain!! I hope nothing extra closes with thunder storms though! :wizard:

WDW is probably different but I will add what they have done there anyway. At least to my knowledge. Anytime lightning is a mile out they close all pools/water rides. So splash and grizzly. And also anything that is outdoors like btmrr gets closed as well. I am not sure how they do it in CA as I have never managed to catch a thunderstorm...just heavy heavy rains. And lots of things were closed. Anything completely inside remained open though. Hope it passes over quickly. Enjoy your Disneyland visit! :)

I forgot you're not supposed to do anything water-ish when there's thunder. I hope it passes quickly or the weather people change their mind come Friday and there is no thunder!

I live in 3 hours north of DL. It was super windy yesterday evening and then the Thunderstorms blew in. It rained part of the moring today and it is now breezy and sunny. My MIL is in Santa Monica (knee replacement surgery) and she said out of the hospital it just looks real gloomy. Hopefully the storm has passed or passes by tomorrow! Then you won't need to worry!

Right now it is strong winds so who knows what Friday may bring. It looks like rain this weekend though or it might not. There is a mass of clouds off the coast that could come ashore and rain on the weekend. On Thursday look at the satellite maps to make sure. If you see cloud masses off the coast then expect gloomy weather and hope it will blow over.

I do not know about you guys(gals) but I never worry about the thunder, it is the lightening that bothers me.

Jack

Thank you everyone. :thumbsup2

I'm going to be checking the weather all day tomorrow. It's very windy here at my house too. Windy and cold.

We had an electrical storm here last year, and I have never seen it lightening like that before. It was really scary and it lasted about 30 minutes. It was just right over us and it looked like the lightening was going to hit something. I think what made it scary is because it never lightenings like that in So Cal.

So when the forecast says "thunder storm" that doesn't mean lightening too, does it? So then we don't have to worry about being outside or getting struck by lightening? :scared:

I agree jack! :) Thunder doesn't bother me one bit...it is what comes along with it! But I believe courtney meant both...or at least that is what I presumed.

I'm pretty sure thunder and lightning usually go hand in hand :) And yes...thunder storms in the forecast do mean lightning as well.

Boo for lightening! They should call it thunder AND lightening storms.

That's what I thought too, but I wasn't sure. Thank you. :goodvibes

Friday is going to be interesting!

I was at DL during a July thunderstorm with lightening. Space Mountain was closed down, anything outdoors was closed (BTMRR, Alice, etc.) Buzz Lightyear went down. At one point it seemed the only thing opened was Pirates and HM. As you can imagine the lines for them got very long and stretched out into the open and it seemed quite unsafe to stand out there in the lightening!

We left and ate lunch. There was nothing to do except go in the stores and shop. Luckily the storm went by and we returned to DL.

The chances of having a thunderstorm on any given day are extremely low. We get very few thunderstorms here in SoCal.

Interesting. Thank you! Hopefully if there is one, it passes quickly too.

I wonder why Space and Buzz would be down in they're indoors?

That is very true. Usually when it does thunder here, or the forecast calls for it, you can barely see the lightening and you can hear the thunder off in the distance.
