I heard CMs talking about working at different locations new week as Thunder Mountain will be closed for 5 days the week of 12/1/08.

Yea, I saw that on the DL calendar about a month ago. Bummer, as we will only be at the parks on the 4th and 5th. Wonder what they are doing to it? The last time we were there, about 4 years ago, it was closed, too.

Yeah it has been up on the calendar. Strange that it is closed for only 5 days...perhaps it is a small project that they want to get done before holiday crowds?

I asked CM about this, and he said he was also quite upset. He said he really perferred working at Thunder Mountain over anywhere else. I also herd him giving another female CM a hard time about having to work at INDY. He said he also had to work at the parade. I did not hear what he had to do, but he was not happy. Why would working at Indy be different than Thunder Mountain? Why would he perfer Thunder Mountain over Indy or anywhere else? It all seem so repetive.

I did notice that the CMs did rotate between, the front line to FP checker.

I dont know if they rotate all the way through. It would get old saying the samething over and over, or just pushing those buttons over and over.

Some CMs were quite the actor. Maybe a start before parades, then maybe off to Hollywood.

They really shouldn't have been talking about that On Stage, as it's Bad Show (it breaks with the Disney Theming and 'Magic') and is certainly not appropriate discussion material when around Guests. For that, I must apologize on their behalf.

That being said, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a Cross-Train Only Attraction - all of the CMs who work there have been with the resort for a substantial length of time. Indy, on the other hand, is a New Hire Attraction - many Main Street/Adventureland/Frontierland Attraction CMs start there. Parade Guest Control is also mainly staffed by New Hires, or so says the popular stereotype.

As a workplace, the DLR has a very strong seniority nature (i.e. "I've been here longer than you, thus I am better than you."), and there are some CMs who feel that it is beneath them to be working "inferior" positions once having been trained to Attractions such as BTMRR. Thankfully, there are also many CMs who don't feel that way.

The whole thing is quite sad, IMO :(.
