Has anyone stayed at Thumpers Retreat? I am looking to stay at an off-site property for 7 people. I have found a 4 bedroom/3 bathroom house called Thumpers Retreat. I can't find any online reviews. Has anyone stayed here before? The owner is in the UK. It has been a rental since 2005 so I don't know why there are no online reviews. If you have stayed here, how was it? I have searched all the Dis Boards but can't find anything on it.

I've stayed a lot of places that didn't have any reviews, so I don't know that that is necessarily a red flag. I would make sure they accepted credit cards so you have recourse if there's a problem though.

Also, have you considered Wyndham Bonnet Creek? You actually have to drive onto Disney property to get there. It's next door to CBR. It's very upscale with LOTS of amenities. They have 1BR/1BA, 2BR/2BA, 3BR/3BA, and 4BR/4BA. The units are spacious and comfortable. They have free transportation to the parks. Just a thought! :)

You can usually get a pretty good price through vacationupgrades.com (Ken Price - I have no affiliation with him at all, but a lot of people on the Disboards have used him.). I've also used ebay.

ETA: Try asking on the Orlando Hotels and Attractions board here on the Dis or Hotel and Accomodations Reviews (just under the Orlando Hotels and Attractions board).

I am also considering a holiday at this villa, but also can find no reviews about it. It is cheaper than most others which is good in one respect but of course it makes you wary as to why. Have you "windycitymom" had any luck finding any further info about it.

I have never heard of that resort, but we just booked a 6 bedroom house at Paradise Palms resort (10 minutes from Disney) for October. It got great reviews, has a nice pool, all units have a splash pool on the lanai, movie theater etc. The price wasn't bad either. They have single family homes and 3-5 bedroom townhouses. The best prices I found were on Homeaway.com.

Have a great trip.

I personally am only comfortable staying at places with lots of good reviews. For seven people, we have stayed with 5mins2disney.com and romancing the mouse and had great experiences, romancing the mouse really stands out IMO b/c pool heat, taxes, grill use, etc, is all included.

Well, I went ahead and booked it for Thanksgiving week! It is managed by a Florida management company and I spoke to someone personally before booking it. I also paid the deposit with credit card. I'll let you know how it was after I get back. It looks like a great property at a great price.

Hi Windycitymom,

Glad to hear you went ahead and booked Thumpers Retreat. You said you spoke to someone at the Management Co, but could I ask what they said to make you confident enough to book? We want to book for next summer but my husband is concerned that there are NO reviews for it.

Regards
Penzo

I feel confident since I am dealing with a management company and not an individual owner only (the owner lives in the UK). I did email back and forth with the owner though. I receive a contract and paid a deposit by credit card.

You could call the management company too and ask questions if that would help you feel better. I guess I'll be the first to write a review when I get back:) It was an excellent price for a private home that is especially for vacation rentals. This is our first time renting a home in Orlando so...we'lll see how it goes.
