Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down: Coral Reef

I think Coral Reef simply put is a hit or miss type restaurant...

My fam and I went there in 2009 and weren't seated till 2 hours after our reservation. They said they got behind and that was that. Totally a bummer and almost put us off completely.

However, last year we only waited a few minutes and had a much better dining experience. I also agree with everyone in saying that it can get noisy in there at times. Just depends on the time of day I suppose.

We are going to dine there again this year though, I just love their chicken with the spaetzle noodles! Mmm...now I'm hungry!

CR has always been a favorite of ours! But, It can be a little to noisy!:scared1:

You will get both extremes of reviews on this place. Personally, we LOVE it and do it every trip!

For me Coral Reef is a :thumbsup2

It really doesn't matter what the restaurant is, they are all going to get mixed reviews. Myself for example: I enjoy WCC and Ohana and they are very mixed in opinion, and personally I am not crazy about Le Cellier and Cape May but many love these two places.

I say go, experience it, and form your own opinion. ;)

I liked it. Service was slow (we were told it was due to their computer system). However, food and atmosphere were great.

Ate lunch at CR a week-and-a-half ago, for the second time. The food both times was delish (especially the Key Lime dessert - I almost picked up the plate and licked it clean); however, the service this time left a lot to be desired, which may just have been a waitress having a bad day.

I will eat there again!

I wouldn't go there just for the food, but the atmosphere was great. We got a table right by the glass. It's not on our list for 2011, but I wouldn't mind going there again someday.

Haven't eaten at CR in quite a few years, but I recall it being rather good. We have ADR for next trip, so we'll see!

Thumbs up, though I'm not a seafood eater!!! LOL! The rest of my group loves seafood though and they said it was fine. Service was ok, not top notch but better than non-Disney restaurants.

We ate there the first time when oldest son was 16 (he's 40 now) and we've eaten there on almost every trip to WDW since then.

I've never been disappointed with the food, but the wait, service and seating have varied and can make or break the experience.

Last time we ate there in 2009, we were seated next to a large group who were really enjoying their wine...bottles and bottles of it. It was noisy, their kids were up and down out of their seats like popcorn and running around the table, but heck, they were enjoying themselves so we ordered more wine and enjoyed ourselves, too... :cloud9:

An experience is usually what you make of it. As long as you're paying that much for food, you might as well make the best of it, even if it's difficult.

Just returned from Disney...we at at coral reef and totally enjoyed the meal. I had chicken (always do...lol). We also had the crusted (either parm or coconut..can't remember)...it was seasoned!!! Im not a huge seafood fan and we even ordered a second appetizer!!! Desserts did not disappoint either. We will definately go back.

The service ws good too! :thumbsup2

sound very good ,I must try it:thumbsup2

Thumbs up from us! :thumbsup2 We prefer lunch time. For our next trip we have an ADR for 1pm on a Friday-we have also had luck with the 11am-early lunch ADR.

Picture to prove it:

My fave pic of our DS3 (at the time) from our trip, sitting in the booth at CR-he has autism, and any time we can get him to focus on the camera is great-he's a happy boy!

Have fun!

Went there last year for the first time. Sat by the tank and had a wonderful meal. Desserts were a bit too sweet for my taste, but loved the small portion so that I would not feel guilty with the calories intake after a 3-course full meal. I had early dinner at 5:00 pm so there's not a problem with the noise level. It was transquil. Definitely a thums-up and can't wait to return in three weeks!

I was worried with the mixed reviews as well, and so glad I had decided to give it a try.

We LOVE it here!! We got to sit right next to the tank last time we were there! That was the best part! Will go back for sure! Give it a try!
