Good grief, I knew babies could get this but I wasn't aware that it hits adults too. It appears I have it. Thrush Overview
According to that article you're more likely to get it if you have an autoimmune disorder (I have rheumatoid arthritis) or are on Corticosteroids (use them for sinus and breathing problems).

Looks like I'll be off to the doctor's today. Left untreated this can get quite serious. Anyone else ever have this as an adult?

My sister-in-law, 40s, just found out she has it. Dr. said brought on by stress or use of anti-biotics, both of which apply to her. It can be painful but if you catch it early, it goes away quickly. Good Luck!

Too bad I didn't live closer to you or I could give your my recent unused huge horse pills my doctor gave me for thrush.

I had viral pneumonia most of the month of July. Right at the end of the sickness my throat started to hurt terribly. I thought for sure it was strept throat. The doctor (well, it was a physician's asst) told me there is no way I could have strept after having viral pneumonia (???) He insisted I had thrush.

Well, he prescribed a name brand medication which my insurance wouldn't cover. I paid for the medication and 24 hours later the nurse called to say my strept test came back positive and not to use the thrush medication.

I have an entire bottle of this medication in my cupboard. I've never had thrush, and I don't know anyone who has.

I get it. I had it very badly after the birth of my first son. I was IV antibiotics during labor and after then I got very run down with a fussy baby etc. He had it too, of course. I had it in my mouth as well as my breasts - I actually had a nurse ask me if I was sharing nipples with him. (????!!!!) That one still makes me laugh. Everyone also kept grilling me about the AIDS possibility. We had quite a time getting rid of it between the two of us since he was nursing.

Adults DO get thrush - trust me! Ever since my bad case of it, I have to be extra careful when I'm on antibiotics or even if I eat too much sugar. I also use asthma inhalers and thrush can be a problem with those as well.

Can't you get thrush if you don't rinse your mouth after using the Advair disk? I think that is what my doctor told me when I first started using it.
