Ok so I have a question and it seems like this thread might be the most helpful. I tried to look back thru the posts but there are just too many. We are going in October 2015 and staying off site at Bonnet Creek. We are planning fly in a day early and stay at a random off site hotel for one additional night. But now I'm considering staying one night at a disney value resort (so not really a throw-away, since we will stay there). If we did that and booked a package including our park tickets I could then book FP+ at 60 days out instead of waiting for 30 days (logging on 60 days out for each individual day at midnight). We would also receive magic bands and our tickets and memory maker would automatically be linked to the bands, correct?
What about ADRS? Can we book them 180+10 days out or would we also have to do each of those ADRS separately on each day?

Yes on ADRs (although it seems that the +10 is now +X, where X is the length of your reservation in days, so you may only get 180+2, and then have to do 180 from successive days.

The 60 day window a bit confusing but works the same way. Getting the Disney room enables a rolling 60 day window for a period of time.

You don't say a specific date or for how long in total, but just for example, let's say you book a value room for the night of October 1st, and you are stating at Bonnet Creek Oct. 2nd through 6th.

Since you value reservation is for two days (one night), you get a "60+2" initial booking window, that starts August 2nd. So on that day, you can book FP+ for Oct. 1st and 2nd. You CAN'T book beyond that yet.

From then on, you get 60 days from the day in question, instead of 30 days. So on August 4th you can book Oct. 3rd, then on the 5th you can book the 4th, and so on.

You keep the 60 day window until October 1st arrives, at which point it falls back to 30 days.

Our travel dates will be 10/9-10/17. We plan to stay on site 10/9, then check into our timeshare on 10/10. If I were to in theory book our Disney stay for 10/9-10/17 then book all ADRS and all FP+ for that time frame then reduce our stay down to just the one night before the payment is due at 45 days out would I then be able to keep all the FP+ and ADRs I already reserved? Not trying to cheat the system, just wondering.

Technically you probably could do it that way but unless you want A and E for every day of your trip you don't need to go to that much trbl. With your 1 night stay the only thing you wont get is the ability to book all your days at once. You will still get the 60 day window albeit a rolling window (as opposed to the 30 day) for each day individually which will put you on a better footing than a good proportion of guests who only have the 30 day window to work with.

Keep in mind that this is how it works currently. Based on the dates you've mentioned you're talking about a booking that is a yr away. The way things have gone with fp+ don't be surprised if by then the system is entirely different.

I have a question I have not seen addressed in the dozens of pages I read... If I book a throwaway room, link it to a new MDE, customize my MBs, receive them (no tix attached), and cancel my throwaway at six days out, getting a full refund, will my MBs still be good for Same Day FPs?

We are doing a variation of this. Getting a campsite at FW for one night and even though we will not stay overnight, we will rent a cart and tour the campgrounds. We are staying at offsite condos for 5 weeks and SOG for one week in January/February. We will also eat at TE for dinner. We've stayed at FW several times and love it there. Love carting there.

You need to link the MBs to tickets if you want to use them for FP+. You don't need to buy those tickets from Disney for it to work though.

MBs not linked to tickets will work (as of today) for same-day fast passes.

If MB's not linked to tickets work for SDFP's, does it matter which day of your trip you book your throw away room? For example, if you are staying for 5 nights, but there isn't a campsite available until the 4th night, would it work to still book that night, and take your extra MB's with you to the parks to book SDFP's starting on the 1st day of your trip?

We are purchasing a DVC but the sellers have been slow to get the papers back and I doubt it will be closed and our points available by the 20th of this month. I want to book fastpass 60 days in advance so I was thinking to book a room for one night, book my fast passes, when the DVC comes through book my DVC room and cancel the original room. Will this work or would Disney cancel my passes once the original reservation is cancelled?

This past August I had a villa at OKW booked through Disney, room-only. I bought tickets and booked FPs at 60 days.

We had to move the dates around due to my husband's work travel schedule, so I ended up canceling the OKW reservation.

I left the tickets in my account.

The FPs stayed but I couldn't change them again until 30 days.

Then at 30 days, the ability to change them opened up again.

Just my experience at that time, but thought I would share.

On the DVC side, most people have booked their rooms for February last fall. More than likely, you will have a tough time getting a room. For example, you can't get a Studio or a 1-bedroom for a week starting February 20 today. Within 30 days, there is less availability.

If you haven't even gotten the papers back, you probably have 6-8 weeks until you can use your points. I would be looking at another plan for the room.

Oh wow I would have thought we could still get a studio at old key west or saratoga springs. Maybe we will be able to do a split stay of some sort. The contract we are buying has banked points that we need to use before August and this is the only trip we are taking between now and then. We are just waiting for closing so I figured it would be 2 more weeks given the timelines that I have seen online.

With an annual pass, you can get the length of your onsite room reservation at 60 days. With a MYW, it's only the number of days on the ticket.

So, while it is still better than 30 days, it doesn't help you get Anna and Elsa or SDMT because you don't get the 60 plus whatever like others do. For the OP, you would need to book as many nights as your stay if you want the traditional full 60 day booking window. If your DVC comes through, you could still cancel that reservation and keep your FP+. However, as the others stated, it will be tough to get a studio for that week.

That's assuming one night reservation. With the AP involved in this case, in theory you could book 7 nights at the same price as 1 night. That would allow you to book 7 days at the 60 day mark. Then maybe you can get the harder FP+ at the end of your trip.

Since it would be a room only reservation, only one night cost would need to be paid as the deposit.
