If you have a room only reservation, does that mean that you cannot get FP until you arrive at WDW, and get tickets added to your reservation?

No ticket entitlements mean no FP+ booking. If you aren't getting tickets until you arrive, you won't be able to do anything until you get the tickets linked up, and then you choose from what is still available.

FP+ really encourages getting your tickets in advance. It doesn't need to be part of a package though - you can even get them through authorized resellers and link them up.

You need to link the MBs to tickets if you want to use them for FP+. You don't need to buy those tickets from Disney for it to work though.

MBs not linked to tickets will work (as of today) for same-day fast passes.

Do you actually have to go and check in (campsites)? I'm still not decided if I want to do this or not, but it may be worth it to get the MB for the 7 of us (and the campsite is only $50/night). I would probably book 2 nights to get our third day FP and just book our 4th and last day FP at 30days out. But if I have to go over to the campsite, not sure if it is worth it.

I bolded that part so you'd know what I was responding to. You'll be able to book all days at 60 days out - it's just a rolling 60 days.

More specifically, if you book ONE throwaway night, you'll be able to book your check in and check out day at 60 days from the check in day.

After that, you'll be able to book other FPs at 60 days out from each individual day. It doesn't drop back to 30 days.

So for my trip, on the 60th day from check in date, I booked FPs for check in and check out days. Two days later, I stayed up till midnight and booked my 3rd day. Three days later, I could book my 4th day, and so on .....

Regarding check in- people on this thread have reported being able to check in online and never even setting foot on the campgrounds.

You'll only get free parking in the parks for check in and check out days. Same with EMH.

Hope that helps!

Correct. If you buy a package, the tix you buy from Disney will be linked automatically.

If you buy tix separately, you will have to go onto MDE (My Disney Experience) and link the tickets to your account. After that, you'll be good to go.

Thanks! I didn't know that about FP. I was mostly concerned for my MK day getting A&E and HS day getting TSMM. We don't need parking. We are staying at Shades of Green so we'll park there.

Unless something changes, you probably won't be able to book A&E at your 60 days but will have to stalk the site. Most on-site guests are having to go to days 6,7,8 to get an A&E so having just the one day and rolling, as opposed to 60+whatever is a disadvantage for you.

I will add one qualifier to this statement. It TOTALLY depends on when you go.

I had trouble booking SDMT at 60 days (didn't try for A&E, but it wasn't available), but I'm going Thanksgiving week, and it's going to be busy. I was ultimately able to get SDMT about 57 days out. I had NO trouble booking Toy Story at 60 days out from our HS day. I only know what my personal experience was, but I would have to believe the hard to get FPs would be FAR easier to get during less busy weeks.

Regardless, you have a much better chance at 60 days than you will at 30 days.

I'm hoping with the low predicted crowd for our MK day (I think it is a 2 or 3) and the fact that we are coming in mid-week instead of the weekend that we'll nab one. Our MK day is our first day.

I had a mid week low crowd day and stil no A&e at the 69 day for either side of my ressie... All booked by people staying longer term. BUT, I checked obsessively over the next couple days and was able to get two overlapping. I got sdmt pretty easily but one at a time too. I was super bummed that I has stayed up to midnight and still didn't get them, but having the extra 30 days to play around did work out in the end. So basically I wouldn't book the throwaway if this is the only reason, but it was worth it to us due to our large party size in terms of bands and parking. Good luck!

So similar to my experience. For me, it was totally not worth staying up till midnight because I found better availability several days later.

I'm curious though...why do you need the bands?

My guess is like most things it is not so much a need as a want. My kids want the bands and with all the fun MB decorating you could do it just makes it even more exciting leading up to the trip to have them. Maybe I'm wrong, but it is part of the reason we did a throwaway room.

Yep. I really wasn't going to mess with the bands since you don't need them, but I thought my kids would enjoy them and make for a cute little souvenir. Once I decided I was going to buy them, it was a no-brainer to book the campsite. Adding in the parking I would get it ended up being cheaper plus the benefit of the 60 day FP+ booking.

We're doing Memory Maker and want the ease of having the bands for that and the on ride photos. Plus, I like the idea of not having to dig out our cards for FP.

OK. I could have sworn that they said MemoryMaker (or PhotoPass+ before they changed the name) purchases would include bands, but maybe they backed off that...

Ok so I have a question and it seems like this thread might be the most helpful. I tried to look back thru the posts but there are just too many. We are going in October 2015 and staying off site at Bonnet Creek. We are planning fly in a day early and stay at a random off site hotel for one additional night. But now I'm considering staying one night at a disney value resort (so not really a throw-away, since we will stay there). If we did that and booked a package including our park tickets I could then book FP+ at 60 days out instead of waiting for 30 days (logging on 60 days out for each individual day at midnight). We would also receive magic bands and our tickets and memory maker would automatically be linked to the bands, correct?
What about ADRS? Can we book them 180+10 days out or would we also have to do each of those ADRS separately on each day?
Thanks!

I'm curious though...why do you need the bands?

For us, it's the convenience. Not having to carry cards for admission and FP+, separate card for memory maker, risk losing them, etc. The Magic Bands make it much easier. And time is money. :thumbsup2

One other benefit to the "throwaway room" would be the ability to make a BOG FP ressie. Only for on site, so if you can't get an evening ADR, this would be a big benefit, I think. Just a thought.
