Hello again :) Keep seeing things about getting a throwaway room, campsite, etc. I'm guessing that the purpose of this is so that you can make your ADR's and your fastpasses earlier? I would assume that if you were traveling with 8 people, you would need two "throwaway" rooms, correct? Please explain this fully. Thanks.

You can have up to 10 people on a campsite reservation and the campsite costs way less than a room at a value which is why they're so popular. You can make your FP+ at 60 days and your ADRs at 180 + 10 days.

Wait, so you are telling me that if I stay at WBC,and I get one of these throwaway reservations, I can make all ADR's, Fastpasses, and magic bands for my whole party by paying for a campsite for one night???? Aren't they wise to this? I can make these ADR's and fastpasses for my entire stay???????!!!!! If it's true, it's nuts!

the fast passes are based on your tickets for now.

not sure about ADR's you can definitely make them for the days you will have the campsite.

as has mentioned Disney does not care - now the people who try to get a last minute campsite and can't because of this practice get mad.

but as long as Disney get money they don't seem to care.

now they use to allow free dinning for campsites but stopped that after the first time they had free dinning - too many people were doing this and it actually cost Disney money.

Surprisingly, I read in their terms, that if you cancel more than 5 days before your arrival date, you get a full refund. But I read on DIS there is a cancellation fee. I am not sure which applies to the campsites. More importantly, in the terms they state they don't cancel your ADR's or FP's. REALLY Nuts!

Just for argument's sake, I attempted to make a campsite reservation for next year, Friday after Thanksgiving. I just was curious to see the price. Says none are available....more than a year from now????? Maybe it's always that way for campsites, or maybe it's just a really busy time???

I checked a few days prior and a few days after to answer that question. They are accepting reservations for the day before, and the day after...and if you have a reservation that is more than one day long...they accept it for the Friday, but they are not accepting reservations for just one day. Weird. Can you book the night before?

Holidays are always busy at the Fort, and even more so now thanks to people booking throwaway campsites. Many people who stay at the Fort have mentioned that there are a lot of vacant campsites even though MDE says they are booked. I've been trying to get a tent site for the last two days of our trip since November (checking two to three times a day). I am hoping those who book them as throwaways cancel after the 30 day mark so my family has a chance at having a full vacation.

Maybe I'm foolish, but I just don't think I want to go to the trouble of getting throwaway room, campsites, or whatever. I tend to choose the restaurants that aren't the most popular ones. My relatives traveled last year between Christmas and New Years...they stayed offsite and got the fastpasses they wanted at the 30 day mark. I think I will take my chances. Are magic bands required? Must you have one to get fastpasses?

Some people will do anything to get any kind of advantage, real or not. Some people have discussed buying extra tickets just to gain additional fastpasses.

It's gotten harder and harder for people who actually want to camp to book a week at Ft Wilderness since FP+ came along. I got reservations for any week I thought we'd want to go the day they opened up for 2015 and cancelled once we settled on a date. I think I had four bookings to begin with. I'm sure this compounded the problem but didn't know what else to do!

I have booked our arrival night at ASMu for our two upcoming offsite trips but we'll actually be staying in the room.

Considering the fact that we will probably stay at an onsite value for the first night or two before the rest of our party arrives (They won't fly and I won't drive!!!) can I get our two magicbands free? I am assuming that I could make ADR's for us, unable to make them for the larger party that will be arriving and staying offsite with us.

Yes to the magic bands. I am unsure about the policy for ADR's for a group split between offsite and onsite.

it doesn't matter who's on the reservation

as long as the one who makes the reservation (and guarantees with their CC) is onsoite, it's 180+10
just enter the number of guests for that reservation
