Throw away Campground Reservations

Posting about beating the system is also against board rules and the original post has been reported. The mods may delete or lock the whole thread soon.
Wow, you must have been that kid that ran and tattled when someone did something you didn't like in kindergarten.

Parents of 4 who are now older and yes it sucks but we pay what's needed to accommodate our family. You sound like you’re entitled to special treatment. What a great example to set for your kids, especially teenagers. As if the world isn't screwed up enough teach your kids to lie

I do sympathize with the element of removing an in demand site from someone who wants it. Hence, i stated I’m only gonna do it as of a week or so before arriving. If there is a day or two available a week ahead of time that’s plenty of opportunity for die hard campers to have booked.

But this is some next level pearl clutching going on here. Bad example for my children? “Entitled to special treatment” For purchasing goods from a company and using them in the way they allow it to be used? Again, i can see a bit of an ethical dilemma (see above) but just….wow.

That's what I was trying to say. Save maybe $20 and get a half hour? Hardly worth screwing over people.

I don't think Disney's IT could put in place logic to delete perks from people who don't show up in person to the Fort, but I'm a coder, I'd give it a shot if I could. 8-)

Removing online checkin would at least waste some of the saved time.

Or what Ed said.

So….you are about right. The days we are going it’ll be net of about $20 a day to pay for early entry and early ILL booking. It may not be worth it. But it may be. It’s all up to individual preference and what you value.

Two years ago, last time we were there, we were there only a few days. Unrelated family obligations took us to Florida so we worked in a quick stop.

Our DHS day…..try to book ILL for ROR at park opening. All gone. Standby line is insane but we sat in it for 2.5 hours while ILL just kept waltzing in.

Tell me how that is not Disney abusing a huge chunk of its customer base. Zero chance of getting on that ride in a reasonable time if not onsite. Offsite are second class peons relegated to standby…..let them eat cake!

So i have no qualms about “cheating the system” as it relates to working around Disneys ever increasing nickel and diming.

But as i said before i do sympathize with campers. I’ll give them until the week before. If there are open slots at that point then fair game. Disney will secretly be happy someone is paying for them. It’s all part of the endless game.

Disney is, when it all comes down to it, a business. They can and do offer perks for people who stay onsite, I’m sorry you don’t like that, but that’s the way Disney chooses to entice people to stay onsite. Why should Disney offer the same perks to everyone no matter where they stay? That’s not good business. Universal also offers perks for their onsite guests, and why shouldn’t they? I know the deal and wouldn’t expect either company to give me the same perks as an onsite guest if I’m coming in as a day guest.

Do I agree with what you want to do? No, but my opinion and the opinions of the others in the group do not matter to you and you will do what you want to. Which the begs the question, why did you ask about this in the first place?

And, you are right, in the end, Disney doesn’t care because they are getting the money and that is what matters most to them.

This is insane. OP would be paying for something and getting the perks they paid for. Why does anyone care if they stay there or not? They bought the rights to those nights and can do what they want with it. All of this acting like OP is the scum of the earth is laughably insane. If someone else wanted those nights they should’ve got to them first. It’s not “beating the system” if they’re paying. They are choosing to pay for the perks and Disney doesn’t care if you’re in the room you pay for or not. This is just ridiculous. But I do disagree with OP saying on site guests should get less perks. It costs a ton of money to even stay in the cheapest on site room and there should be good perks for that.

I know I’m gonna get killed for this but ….. here goes.
I have a question for all who think this is poor form. I just returned from a trip to Disney world and was offered a perk called lightning lane for additional money per day/ride. Instead of paying, I watched others get to ride many different rides while my ability to ride those rides was delayed as a result.
How does a 'throw away' campsite differ?

Paying for a room and not sleeping there isn’t “beating the system”, it’s not against any rules and Disney couldnt care less about it.

OP asked " Ever heard of Disney catching on and punishing people for it?"

Why bother to post here and ask if they thought it might not be acceptable? Because it's worded like they already know it is shady and concerned about Disney caring about it.

ETA: The last 2x now we did online checkin, we did not get a site assigned until we showed up in person at the fort. I don't know if that has been experience of others lately. So you never know, you may have to drive through to save that $20. I guess you get perks without a site assigned, I wouldn’t know.

So how about Snickerdoodles? Anyone else like those or is everyone a chocholate chip kind of person?

Personally, Girl Scout Thin Mints from the freezer are incredible.

@traveler9 and @disneydreamer1980

If you haven't figured it out yet, this is a hot button issue here. The Fort is VERY difficult to get reservations, especially around any holiday and most weekends. Your new found idea to optain Disney perks on the cheap has been around for decades. While you may not consider it "cheating", those of us that actually camp and enjoy the Fort find it incredibly rude. It makes who ever is doing this (you?) seem incredibly entitled (Look what I did at the expense of those lowly camping a-hls) and completly inconsiderate (or oblivious).

Your example is full of holes.

Try again.

Or let me explain it to you in basic terms:

LL for $, you get (and use) what you pay for. You chose to pay or not and receive the benefits or not.

If you book lodging and then don't LODGE there .....

.... (stop me if I'm going too fast for you) .....

but do so only for the fringe benefits, then you are scamming the system.

There are usually folks looking for lodging at the Fort who actually WANT TO LODGE there.

Amazing concept, I know.

This concept is hard for those who are ethically challenged.

Me

PS - again I propose a prior suggestion I've put out on this topic: I call it the "Loop 2900" digital plan. There are only 28(00) loops at the Fort. We can create a make-believe 2900 loop that doesn't actually take a real campsite out of inventory but instead lets people who want to "beat the system" get benefits of staying on site and so on. And heck, any resort could get in on the digital game. Disney could create a Polynesian "Dreamer's" digital room category to get the benefits at Poly. Think of all the money Disney could make by letting people on Hwy 192 and off Hwy 535 or AirBNB out there to get all the benefits of a 7am LL time and 30 minutes early entry. It boggles the mind all the money Disney could make while degrading the overall customer experience. Like this topic is degrading the Fort Wilderness experience.

I hate these arguments with entitled children, waste of time

I like peanut butter chocolate chip cookies

A number of us get together at Gulf State Park. Reservations there are also difficult to get. They have the following "No Show" policy.

Maybe we should strongly suggest to Disney/Fort management that something similar be implemented. Obvioulsy this would accompany revision of any on site associated perks.
