Needing a one way rental from SFO to DL for July 5th-8. Thrifty has the cheapest prices that I can find. Anybody have experience with Thrifty from SFO? We will return at SNA airport. I've read some negative reviews from Thrifty and Dollar, but some of the higher rental agencies have negative reviews too. Thanks for your help.

They're a reputable company to some degree - part of the Dollar Thrifty Group that was acquired by Hertz. Of course the biggest worries these days are dent scams, where they try to get people to pay for preexisting dents. I don't think Thrifty is one of the more notorious agencies.

Now there are the limited location rental agencies with poor reputations - like E-Z, Fox, Advantage, or Payless.

I think that no matter what company you go with will have a bad rep because some people are just very picky and usually they are on vacation so they are spending money which doesn't help lol Well, I am not sure what the difference is with price but I have had really good rates with National/Alamo and they don't charge anything extra/hold if you use your credit card. I live near SFO so I have used them a lot especially if I needed a rental if my car is being fixed and never had any bad thoughts on the company

Thanks to both of you for your replies. So far Thrifty is by far the cheapest. I will double check with National/Alamo however.

I have been renting from Thrifty for many years, have never had a problem and it's always the cheapest (I do a ton of research and check back regularly for price changes). We just did a one way rental from LAX to SFO, 12 days and the total was $393. Much cheaper than any of the others I looked at. One thing that happened at LAX that has never happened for us with Thrifty (or other agencies if we've had to use someone else) is that they gave us a booster seat for free. Saved more than $120. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. I booked with Alamo, I need to ask about them now. :rotfl: We have a Discover card and they are having a deal for rewards with Alamo that brought the car down to a cheaper rate than Thrifty. I can use my points to purchase gift cards where I can get $40 for every $20 of points. Couldn't pass that up. I have used Thrifty for other places. They were so much cheaper than others! Again, thanks for your reply.
