Thrift Store Find

I tend to have good luck finding clothes at our local thrift stores. Last week I found myself 6 pairs of Maurices jeans, barely worn, just enough to break them in. They run about $40 new, I paid $6 a pair.
My daughter found a pair of Silver jeans for $4, look brand new! They retail for $80! We found some Disney refillable mugs for .50 each. It's not the current style, but the previous one. And no, we won't be taking them to use at Disney :rotfl:

A good friend took me to a consignment shop she had found that specializes in clothes for curvier women and I scored some amazing deals.

My first trip with her I got 2 pairs of capris (one fashion bug and one avenue) and 2 tops for $16.16

Then the next week I took my mom back and for $24.00 we got 1 dress, and 1 kahki skirt for my mom, plus a pair of jeans, 2 sweaters, and a black dressy skirt for me.

I have been losing weight and hate to spend a lot of money on clothes I will no longer need in a few months so this is perfect for me.

I guess I'm cheap then because $6 for USED (even barely) jeans seems too high to me..no matter what the brand.

I *love* the local church thrift store near me. Yesterday I went and spent $17.50. They had an extra 25% off everything, so I got:

-Like-new Children's Place windbreaker in my 5 year-old's size for 75 cents
-Kelly's Kids dress in excellent condition for $2.75
-2 boutique smocked Bishop dresses for $3 each
-Some children's books for 25 cents each
-Littlest Petshop playset for 75 cents
-Set of Baby Gap pajamas in 2 year-old's size for 75 cents (we needed these badly so I was psyched!)

I can't remember what else I got, LOL! The 2 smocked bishop dresses are my favorites, though. They are in like-new condition. I looked them up on Ebay and the one labeled "Claire and Charlie" recently sold for $29.99 used. I'm keeping them for picture dresses, though. My kids have awesome, high-end wardrobes thanks to this thrift store. I rarely shop anywhere else and I rarely pay more than a couple of dollars for an outfit there:eek:

To each his own ;) the way I look at it, I saved over $200 on those jeans, nearly $300 when you include the pair I got for my daughter. I couldn't even get a brand new pair of Walmart jeans on clearance for that cheap lol And trust me, there is a HUGE difference in the way more expensive jeans fit compared to cheap ones. I now 'get' that.

Our Goodwill is ridiculous. Overpriced (IMO) & the racks are a mess. I prefer a regional chain (Thrift Town). Well organized (not just blouses but long-sleeve, short sleeve & sleeveless & sorted by size), clean & they have both 50% off color tags & a punch card as well as various other specials.

Today DS needed new shorts so I suggested we hit there first. Good thing we did because it was .99 shorts day!! 4 pairs for him & 5 for DD (they also counted any skirts with attached shorts as shorts) for under $10. At that price if they're wrecked in a year its OK.

a few weeks ago I got a brand new Fossil leather purse at Savers for 12.99- I thought it was pricey, but this purse is SO nice......:cool1:

That's an awesome deal! I'm jealous. I love Fossil anything and even when I can find Fossil purses or wallets on clearance they are WAY more expensive than that! I wish I could find good stuff at any of our local Goodwills.

I'm sorry..that may have come across as knocking that..and really..it isn't and if it works for you then YEAH. And actually..I guess if I saw a pair of Bucle jeans or however you spell it..for $6 for my DD I'd get them. Just for me..I do notice that Coldwater Creek jeans fit me well, so I'd probably buy them for $6 also..grudgingly :) I guess I come from the idea that since stuff is just given to them they should just price it all the same at low get rid of prices and let the consumer find the bargains. We have one thrift shop where all jeans are $1.00 another has them for $3 and then they go on sale for up to 75% off, so I like those places :)

Our local Goodwill had their $1 clothes sale on thursday (rotation every 6-8 weeks)and I got some awesome items! I'm stocking up on unique sweaters and capris for our December WDW trip and it's so much fun getting them for a buck:banana:There are all kinds of Disney items throughout: T's, hoodies, glasses, mugs, home decor, toys :thumbsup2I also picked up an EPCOT mug with Mickey for 49 cents!

Stuff is given to Goodwill but they incur a lot of expenses too...they have to spend a lot hauling away trash that people donate because they can't accept that it really is just trash....and they do a lot of good training people who wouldn't otherwise be able to have careers- not just working at goodwill but they have actual training centers where they teach career skills. So since the profit goes to charity, I don't mind paying $6 for jeans- though I think it's 7 here now.
