Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Chocolate, my favorite ❤️.

1. Sees dark chocolate covered chocolate truffles and dark chocolate covered chocolate buttercream candies. I got a custom box for myself to have one or two a day during this time.

2. Chocolate covered cherries

3. I wouldn’t say, “No,” to chocolate covered anything at this point.

Evening all,

I'm so glad I ate before reading this thread!

1. Ferrero Rocher - hazelnuts covered in chocolate, one of my favourites.

2. Pies - whether savoury or sweet, anything wrapped and enclosed in pastry (preferably shortcrust) tastes amazing.

3. Stuffed cookies - what's better than a cookie? A cookie wrapped around something else of course. Made some incredible mince pie cookies recently that fit in with the festive season!😋

Happy Wednesday Folks

There’s only one thing that I know of that uses maple syrup in it, and that’s my peanut butter balls (it’s my secret ingredient 🤫) So, I’ll go with just sweet things…..

#1 - DAIRY QUEEN BLIZZARDS - I tried the holiday sugar cookie one last weekend and it was super good

#2 - POWDERED SUGAR - I use it a lot this time of year. I am a self admitted closet powdered sugar eater. I do love sneaking spoonfuls of powdered sugar when no one is looking. I have to do this in private, because if I don’t, my family will tease me, which makes me laugh, which makes me inhale the sugar and makes me cough/choke on it. So when they turn their backs, I sneak a spoonful - don’t judge! :rotfl:

#3 - CHRISTMAS COOKIES - The cookies we make this time of year are my favorites. My DH is going to do the baking this year because I’m still recovering from my foot surgery. I miss doing the baking this year, but I will enjoy taste testing what he’s going to make :goodvibes

Maple Tree - I'm taking a slightly different angle here. We had a house in NJ that had a big maple tree in the middle of the backyard. At some point, early on, my dad decided to tap the tree so we could have fresh maple syrup. While it was great to be able to make our own, it also gave me a lot of perspective on how much it actually takes to make a meaningful serving of syrup (after boiling it down), thus also making me understand from an early age why the real stuff costs so much.

Anything maple bacon - I've used this combo in cakes and even candies where I candied bacon and covered it in tempered chocolate. I then finished it with crystalized maple candy shards.

The smell of maple - I wish more air freshener and candle companies would recognize this as a powerful fall smell. I would take this any day, wafting through the air, over pumpkin spice.

Maple syrup on pancakes, waffles or French toast. The real thing is so much better than the fake stuff

The polenta they used to serve at Le Cellier. It had a touch of maple syrup for the sweet and a touch of Parmesan cheese for the salty. I have a copycat recipe I make often.

Those little leaf shaped maple sugar candies. I love those!

Evening all,

I have a sweet tooth, but for some reason maple syrup isn't something I'm particularly keen on (sorry!). I'd eat it if someone gave it to me but would never choose it, so I'll go for sweet stuff in general:

1. Gingerbread syrup - I might not like maple syrup, but I adore gingerbread lattes and drink far too many at this time of year!

2. NYC cookies - in any flavour, I'm not fussy as they're usually full of chocolate and sweet lovely goodness.

3. Sticky toffee pudding - this is a bit of a traditional dessert in the UK but until recent years I wasn't a fan. However my tastes have now changed and this super sweet toffee pudding served warm with ice cream is now my go to whenever I see it on a menu. Even better during the winter months as it's super warming and delicious.
