Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Evening all,

1. Earrings - another vote for earrings as it'd be a bit of a pain if you couldn't get earrings in pairs!

2. Glasses - if you didn't have a pair of glasses or sunglasses, you'd effectively have a monocle right? 🤔

3. Bluetooth headphones - can't live without these on a daily basis as I use them when exercising.

I thought about this as they are also a huge part of my exercise life. I just found myself conflicted because I've been using my "ear muff" styles ones lately for my morning walks since they give me music while keeping my ears warm. I use a set of AirPods for warmer days and at the gym, but can I call it a "pair" if it's the over ear style that's one piece? Life's great questions! 😁

His amazing Brain and tenacity to never give up on visions and ideas

Wonderful world of Disney the way he brought the building of his Parks to TV to include all of us in on it

The wonderful shows and movies in cartoons and ideas that he came up with for entertainment the many creative people that he brought into his circle to bring us such a wonderful entertainment

The Disney bubble - if you know you know

This forum - While our posts of gratitude span a multitude of topics, I don't think any of us would be on the disboards and ultimately this subforum if it weren't for our love of things in existence because of Walt Disney.

The memories from the parks/resorts - Some of my fondest memories are tied to the parks and resorts inside the bubble(s). Disneyland doesn't have as much of a bubble vibe, but I'm still going to count it as you do feel a bit of a shift as you walk on property. So, more stuff we wouldn't have if it weren't for Walt.

The special events - I got a text from my parents last night, who just happened to be attending MVMCP for the first time. While they were here for Thanksgiving, we mapped out their food and cookie options and discussed the special things they bought to wear to the party. A different kind of magical, but yesterday, I found all of my runDisney event shirts and opted to wear my half marathon tech shirt to the gym. Aside from all of these gym regulars who see me 5-6 days a week getting to see 'yeah, she "runs" too' it got me thinking about how I'd like to do Wine & Dine after DD17 goes off to college. I've been for the Food & Wine Festival, which is another fun special event, but I'd really like to do those specific races. Again...things that we wouldn't have if it weren't for Walt.

He had the courage to follow his dreams even when most scoffed and said that will never work.
His affinity for small town America as depicted in Main Street.
His affinity for American history as depicted in Frontierland and other attractions.
His unbounded ingenuity and creativity.

I missed yesterday due to cataract surgery, so let me start by saying how much I have learned to appreciate two good, working eyes! I had one cataract replaced yesterday. My vision is wonky, one eye is somewhat patched to prevent double vision, and I currently have no depth perception. HEre's to a pair of working eyes... which I will have sometime after having the second cataract removed on Dec 11th!

Christmas socks... I have enough pairs to wear a different pair every day between Thanksgiving and New Year's day!

Walt Disney...
His vision for his parks, and determination to make HIS views come to life, even if others weren't 100% on board.

His imagination for "making magic." There is a lot these days that wouldn't have flown under Walt's hand. I'm thinking of things like being able to see backstage stuff, like the backside of buildings when approaching Epcot on the Skyliner. Walt's Disney was all immersive, all magical... seeing stuff like employee parking lots and constant construction walls weren't part of his World.

His taking into consideration the "everyday family." I think Disney World/Land have gotten far, far away from this, making a trip to the parks almost unaffordable for many (even with saving), removing things like free FastPass (not that FP was part of Walt's original vision, but charging extra for it wouldn't have been his plan, I'm sure)... stuff like that.

I totally agree with all of this!

Walt Disney . . .

I am grateful for his willingness to take risks when others told him they probably wouldn’t succeed. He believed in himself and what he was doing.

I am grateful for his willingness to hire the people he needed to make his dreams come true instead of trying to do it all himself. Not everyone is smart enough or secure enough to know they can’t do it alone.

I am grateful that he was curious and creative throughout his life. He could have just stuck with his success in animation, or stopped with the success of his live action films. However, he was always looking toward the future and the possibilities waiting there. I often wonder what things he might have done if he’d lived another 15-20 years.

Evening all,

I'm rather happy today as I've finally booked my next trip back to WDW in April/May next year! 😊

1. Films that made my childhood and gave me so many good and fond memories.

2. His imagination and ride ideas that gave us the theme parks we have today.

3. Another vote for the Disney bubble. Like leebee has said the pricing is getting a bit ridiculous for this and certainly wouldn't be how Walt would do it now, but despite this I do love it.

It seems I've been better about posting topics the last couple of days than coming back to answer , so I'll do a mini gratitude catch-up with favorites from the other categories and the full three today ~

Best thing about my house:
lots of light ☀️

Things in pairs:
definitely socks! - right now Christmas ones, but I love cute summer ones too!

Walt Disney:
  • Seconding "the bubble" - it is truly a happy place for me!
  • Feel-good movies
  • And that he indirectly brought us all together here on this thread. - You are all part of one of my favorite daily routines. :goodvibes
