Three Things...Gratitude Thread

I can almost repeat everything you just said especially about the dentist I thought you were saying the same thing I could say because it says my exact same experience and I feel the same way and I as you got lucky and found a dentist that does the same thing recently and I feel so blessed to have found this dentist and their kindness and their gentle way of handling me and my anxiety and they numbed my teeth to the 10th power just to do the cleaning and if I even twitched a little bit they numb them some more and they were so kind and so patient with me and it just made me feel so relaxed and so well taken care of I was so blessed then I went ahead and had my six appointments to get my teeth addressed and I’m very happy I did and I’m very happy with the results I had put it off for seven years so I’m very happy and grateful I found these people and I plan on continuing to see them

I too wish I didn’t have to work 40 hours a week but I am very grateful that I get to do most of my work from home and I’m very grateful for my boss he can be extremely mean but on the other side of it he can be the most generous person you’ll ever meet in your life if I need something and this could be I need something personally he is there for me 100% no questions asked if I need time off it’s just you do whatever you need to do but on the other hand I can make one tiny little mistake and he’ll scream at me for like an hour I’ve learned to tune that out that’s just how he rolls you gotta take the good with the bad and his good outweighs his bad I truly feel very blessed to have this job I have a lot of freedom and like I said I get to work from home four days out of five

I truly am tired of doing housework I am sick and tired of cooking most the time I will not cook but I am very grateful very thankful that I still have the ability to do both of those things I’m no spring chicken and I have some medical issues that limit me considerably but at least I still can do those things I just don’t feel like doing most of the time but when the moon strikes me and it does about once a month grateful that I do know how to do these things and I can do them

I’m exceptionally grateful for YouTube videos so that I can learn how to do things that I do not know how to do that I work up to courage to do myself and I have enough sense not to mess with things that I know or beyond my comprehension but other things they do not involve electrical or plumbing I will try and tickle myself and I can’t tell you I’m proud of myself I am when I accomplish the goal I may not do it the first time but I will keep trying until I get it I may have to go get some help but at least I get some help and learn how to do it I don’t want you doing it for me I want you to show me how to do it so I can continue to do it and I’m very appreciative and I have some help I’m extremely grateful for it and feel very blessed

Happy Sunday!

#1 - RAINY DAYS - I’m never a fan of gloomy rainy days, but I am grateful for my flowers getting watered so I don’t have to do it.

#2 - IRONING - I hate it, but am grateful for my iron & ironing board so I don’t have to wear wrinkled clothes

#3 - MY SECOND JOB - I wish I didn’t have to go into my second job, but then I get the money I’m paid and I’m grateful for this one day a week second job, so I can put that money into our vacation account.

Evening all!

I'd agree with so many of these so far, although for me my top 3 are:

1. Work - i hate working and I dont particularly like my job most of the time. If I could sustain my lifestyle without having to work I would (sadly nearly 30 years until I can retire). But I'm grateful that my job allows me a lot of flexibility to benefit my personal life and also the funds to go on some amazing holidays!

2. Cooking - i live on my own so cooking should be easy, however i find it such a chore especially cooking big batches of healthy meals and slaving away for hours. However despite how much i hate doing it, i always enjoy the end result a lot more than a takeaway or ready meal and I'm grateful for it being much healthier too.

3. Organising/Having a clear out - I'm usually quite tidy and neat however I, like most people I'm sure, find it easy to accumulate things or try not to notice when something is getting a little disorganised. Key examples for me are when my wardrobes are getting full to bursting with clothes or when my garage is getting a little full. I hate organising and clearing these places out, but it feels so good when its done and clear and looking a million times better.

My vacuum - I hate vacuuming... but I'm grateful I don't have to take rugs outside and beat them!
Rain - We got rain today, and I am very much a sunshine girl. But the plants needed it, so I am grateful they will stay healthy. 🪴
And another vote for cooking - I really have to be in the mood to enjoy cooking. More often, I dread even deciding what to make. So today I will be grateful that I have plenty of things to cook and don't have to worry where the groceries are going to come from.

1) Washing dishes 3 times a day for our family of 6. But I am so thankful to have a dishwasher to help and I remember when we didn’t have one.

2) Working out. I never want to do it but I am so thankful I am healthy enough I can. That I have lungs that are strong enough to breathe in the air as I do it. That my muscles can move my body still. I try not to ever take movement for granted because I know so many who can’t get up and move.

3) Scooping dog poop. It’s gross but I love my dog so much. I am always thankful for her dopey smile each morning. Her constant love and company. And I know my heart will break in a million pieces the day I won’t have this chore. So I happily go clean the yard.

For things I'm grateful I can do or know, even if it didn't feel that way at first...

I second the vacuum! I think I mentioned that both our robot and upright died within the same week. So far, I've only replaced the upright but it's amazing how happy I was to vacuum when the new one arrived.

I just went to the dentist last week for my 6 month routine cleaning, so I'm on board with those sentiments as well.

Creative home fixes...While I am not opposed to calling the handyman, when things go wrong, I like to try and find temporary solutions (or long term ones) that are in my wheelhouse of capabilities. I don't enjoy it and will put it off at all costs for a while, but I often hit a breaking point. Like this weekend, I got tired of looking at the ceiling damage from our roof issues (fallen limb) and A/C problem (clogged lines). So, I did a bunch of drywall repair, sanded and repainted. It's not perfect but it's much better than it was.
