Three Things...Gratitude Thread

I have to include summer produce, especially tomatoes, corn on the cob, and watermelon. (And if in Maine, blueberries!)

Iced drinks, even though I seem to be drinking iced coffee year-round now.

The smell of BBQs in the neighborhood. I rarely eat meat, but I still like the smell of BBQ

(For those who don't know, "Summerween" comes from a television show called Gravity Falls. I never actually watched it, but have been seeing ideas on Pinterest and Instagram, so I looked it up.)

Today's Topic (Sun, 6/22) - 3 random holiday things you're grateful for (things you look forward to on various holidays, "holiday" dishes you make when it's not even a holiday, that one decoration you just can't pack away, etc.)

Good morning friends and Happy Sunday :)

Dad and I often use seasonal kitchen towels or tablecloths past its intended season.

Heart-shaped pancakes taste good not just on Valentine's Day.

Flower stickers brighten up mail at all times of the year.

Good Sunday Morning

#1 - New Years Day - Relaxing all day, it’s my one day off from life and I’m very grateful for it every year.

#2 - Easter - I’m grateful for my collection of dried palms that are in a vase. These palms date back to when we moved into this house 21 years ago, There’s a lot in this vase and I will continue adding to them as long as there’s room in the vase. These palms are displayed in my living room.

#3 - Christmas Eve - I’m grateful for our low key family night which is 5pm Mass, picking up a stuffed pizza on the way home and eat it while watching The Polar Express and then Christmas With the Kranks. It’s a wonderful night

My bunnies - I have a collection of stone bunnies that originally purchased for Easter and not so much Easter working but their bunny rabbits I just leave them out all year or I should say I decorate with them all year

Green bean casserole it started off as a holiday dish but we all like it so much we got so we made it all the time it lost it’s holiday status

I have a few special nutcrackers that I leave out all year round I bought them years ago in the German pavilion at EPCOT

Just catching up on the past few days now I'm home!

Summer foods:
1. Ice cream - preferably the soft scoop or whipped kind, or even gelato, that come in various different exciting flavours.
2. Strawberries - my favourite fruit and can't beat British strawberries in the summertime
3. Alcoholic slushies - sadly these aren't very common at home but I wish they did, I love the various versions you can get in WDW!

Holidays:
1. Food & drink you only get at holiday time - I love the wide variety of foods and drinks and sweet treats that get released during the holidays that aren't around the rest of the year.
2. Time off - holidays usually signify extra days off work for which I am always grateful for some extra rest.
3. Christmas lights - i love having Christmas lights up both inside and outside my house, as they look so festive and bright and generally just make me feel happy to see them. I'd keep them up all year round if I could!

Holiday things . . .

Stuffing - I could eat that every week, not just for Thanksgiving.

Christmas music - I make use of all the Christmas in July stuff to listen to my holiday music, and start listening the first of November too.

Holiday decorations - taking an ordinary day and making it extraordinary. I do keep my Haunted Mansion art and decor out year round though.
