Happy H U M P Day Friends

Being able to afford splurges are such a blessing.

#1 - Our New DVC Contract - We literally just closed on it last week. We bought a resale contract and it’s for Saratoga Springs because the price was right. We’ve been wanting to do this for 20 years and we finally did it. We’re very excited about it.

#2 - Going Out To Dinner - It’s so expensive to go out to dinner anywhere in today’s world, and we don’t do it often, and when we do, I do consider it a splurge

#3 - WDW Spirit Jerseys - I splurged and bought 2 of them last trip and I love them! They are so expensive, but I just couldn’t pass these two up,

Splurges:

1. Holidays - I'm so grateful for the fact that i can afford to spend money on holidays and feel lucky about how many places I'm able to visit.

2. Eating out at nice restaurants - while I dont do it often, I love being able to eat out at very nice restaurants every now and again - something fancier and highly rated than the normal places i go to fairly regularly.

3. Cars - I love cars and love changing what I drive, so am very grateful I can afford to splurge and do that every few years.

Vintage Bag - I just moved into a vintage bag I splurged on a few years ago. It wasn't a massive splurge, as it was a fraction of what it cost new back when it first hit the fashion world, but it wasn't cheap either. I was sitting there admiring the craftsmanship on it just a little while ago and so happy I took the plunge. I had wanted one so badly but they came out when I was expecting DD18 and it seemed way too frivolous to drop that kind of money on a bag at that time.

Loafers - Last week, I bought a pair of black and white chunky spectator penny style loafers that were from a fairly decent designer. They were on sale for quite a bit off, but still not cheap. I felt a little guilty for the splurge since I don't need them and won't get to wear them often, but they make good for a pair of similar loafers I passed on about 30 years ago. Back then, I opted for their brown oxford cousin that I literally wore until they were falling apart. By the time I had the room in the budget for the loafers back then, they were sold out. So, I feel like today's splurge is justified. When they arrived, I literally wore them all day in my office while in my workout leggings. I think I love them!

Sunglasses - About 20 years ago, I found a gorgeous pair of designer sunglasses for a steal at Marshalls. About 9 years ago, I lost those glasses while at a water park. They were my cheapest pair of glasses at the time, so it made sense to wear them over the others in my collection, but it was still a hard loss when they floated off my head and went under in the rapids. The park was never able to find them. One of the kids was struggling and there wasn't great lifeguard coverage, so naturally...kid before glasses. I recently found an identical pair on ebay in perfect condition. They were much more than I paid for the original pair, but I bought them and am so happy to have them back in my collection.

My biggest splurges are the 7 cruises we currently have reserved. That will take us through next July. I am recovering from HIPEC surgery, and cruising is how I want to vacation!

Lu Cookies, Le Petit Ecolier, infrequent purchases.
Walker shortbread cookies, various kinds

Solo trips to Disney- Yes, it's expensive. I try to cut costs as much as I can, but I've also accepted the "little splurges," like booking a preferred room at AllStars as I'm traveling alone and walking to the back of ASMu can be a little disquieting after dark. Honestly, I never thought we'd get to the point where we could afford to travel just for fun, much less visit Disney as frequently as we do.

Being able to "go out" for supper if we are too late or too tired to want to cook and clean the kitchen. I'm not talking expensive restaurants, but it's nice to have the flexibility to grab a pizza or go to Subway on the nights I Just Can Not face the kitchen at home!

Grocery store "treats," splurging on the national brand of peanut butter rather than the store brand (yes, they taste different), or buying DH real Cheerios instead of the Hannaford brand.
