Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Good morning :)

Light pink carnations that are budding are my favorite flower.

Dad has shared the jacaranda trees on our street are blooming. Their leaves are both lighter and darker purple. Dad said he will take a picture. I will post it when he does.

Pastel colors remind me of Spring and Easter, my favorite time of year. I am going to wear a light pink T shirt today, my favorite color.

DD18s Nursery - I'm not much of a pastel person but the bedding set I'd selected involved a pale pastel yellow, so that wound up being the color of her walls. I normally prefer a bright yellow, but the soft yellow was soothing and I was so happy to find something I loved that didn't involve more traditionally girly colors.

Glider & Ottoman - I had this super comfy pastel blue gingham swivel glider and ottoman that I used in both girls' nurseries. It matched both of their color palettes and made those middle of the night sessions much more tolerable.

Pink Trimmed Shorts - OK this is sort of a backwards one, but several months ago, DD16 asked for more athletic shorts for school weight room and conditioning days. They're only allowed black shorts and any trim needs to be white. I found a pair that was on sale but the trim was technically a pale pastel pink. It looked kind of like I accidentally ran whites with something red that lightly bled. In any event, the pastel pink was light enough that it passed for the coaches and I wound up saving about $20.

1. Pastel nail polish - i absolutely adore pastel colours on nails, they look so pretty and even better when you mix them up with a different colour on each nail. Such a great way to feel brighter after winter.

2. Pastel blue outfit - I've got a gorgeous 2 piece pastel blue outfit (top and knee length skirt) that not only looks wonderful, but makes me feel fabulous when I'm wearing it.

3. Jaws Loungefly - I have a Jaws loungefly backpack that is partially pastel coloured (it glows in the dark) and I love it, out of all the Loungeflys out there its still one of my favourites.

Today we have both:IMG_8587.jpeg
So if either of these apply to you, please go with them! If not, we finally have a sunny day after a lot of grey skies here, so there's a third option:

Today's Topic Choices (5/24) -
  • 3 things you're grateful about your brother(s)
  • 3 things you're grateful about your home (or vacation) state of Wyoming
  • 3 things you're grateful for about a sunny day after rain

Good Saturday Morning

I’m picking my stats - Indiana

#1 - Home of The Indy 500 - This is my DH’s favorite weekend of the year. He started going to the race at 7yrs old and he’s never missed a year. Our wedding was planned after it, our kids were planned to be born anytime except May and I hope if I die before him it’s not in May, or I’ll be put on ice until June 🤣😂

#2 - The Indiana Dunes National Park - I live relatively close to The Dunes, which is a neat place to visit.

#3 - Close to Lake Michigan - This is for me since I’m in NW Indiana. I like being close to water. I visited Lake Michigan beaches many times as a kid and taking my girls when they were younger. It gives you a tropical feel in a state that has nothing tropical about it - LOL!

Seen as I've never been to Wyoming and don't particularly get on with my brother, I'll go with after the rain.

1. The rain fills up the old flower pot my cat uses for drinking water, meaning I dont have to fill it up for her. She does get a nice bowl of fresh tap water inside the house but apparently rain water in a plant pot is better... 🙄

2. My plants get watered so I dont have to get the hose pipe out.

3. Generally just grateful for a nice sunny day after the rain, especially when it's been pouring it down. Nothing better than being able to go out for a long walk in the sun after the rain!

Wyoming is one of my favorite states to visit, so I’m opting for the Cowboy State.

Yellowstone- I can’t even begin to list off everything I adore about this park. It’s like no other place on earth and will change you forever if you get the opportunity to visit.

Grand Teton- It’s not quite the same other worldly vibe as its park neighbor directly to the north but the iconic mountain peaks, the views from the adjacent grasslands and riverbeds, as well as the vibe of adjacent Jackson makes it a special place to visit.

The welcome center just north of the Colorado border on i25- This center is phenomenal. It’s got a number of interactive displays and has sort of a museum vibe. It’s just south of Cheyenne and is a great place to spot pronghorn.

Honorable mentions to Devils Tower, Cody (and the park areas just to the west), the scenery around Fort Laramie, and the scenery/drive in the Bighorn National Forest when going west after Buffalo. It’s super tempting to share photos but I wouldn’t know where to begin OR STOP!

Grateful for the impact that the university of Wyoming had on major league baseball ⚾ ⚾ ⚾ ⚾

Spring of 1983 the army recreation center offered a night game to watch the Yankees. My stadium seat was next to another writer and we didn't talk shop until the jumbo screen showed stats from around the league and there at the top was another grand slam, the fifth for the Dodger first baseman and another homerun to lead the League in home runs....so it was time to talk ⚾ ⚾ ⚾ baseball.

"I know that hitter.".. I said and the fellow responded..."you know rookie Dodger Greg Brock?"

So began the story of how a Wyoming alum spent his youth between the ages of 8-16 picking strawberries in the the sun 🌞 🌞 beating months of June and July agriculture fields 🍓🍓🍓🍓
Of Oregon for cannery freezing and in high school he was the quarterback and varsity baseball player... recruited by Wyoming... where he still holds several hitting records....

Alas... pitchers eventually learned how to pitch to him and he slumped as a hitter...
Losing rookie of the year to
Daryl strawberry🍓🍓🍓🍓

Not into baseball???... well... how about basketball 🏀 🏀 🏀.. I know Wyoming alum Josh Davis

Devil's Tower National Monument
What you meant to say was Great Gray Horn or Bear tipi...bear house..bear Lodge....none of the 3 contestants on final jeopardy or myself even tried to guess the correct answer 🤔 🤔 🤔 😞 😞 not sure if Ken was smirking or embarrassed...all I know is that Richard Dreyfuss is one fantastic sculpture...my wife is always asking... what is the mess you are making on the dinning room table... beats the devil out of me 😭 😭 😭

Good morning :)

Definitely after the rain rainbows dear WDWEPCOT.

I am an only child. Dad has gotten a bit closer to his brother in recent years for which I am grateful.

CA is home. Besides, our favorite mouse lives not all that far from me.
How many miles are you away from the Matterhorn

3. Generally just grateful for a nice sunny day after the rain, especially when it's been pouring it down. Nothing better than being able to go out for a long walk in the sun after the rain!
Then you would love after flash flood basins behavior here in Yuma... nothing like the news photos..
Very calm and peaceful and tons of pretty rocks... well sort of...all stones are pretty when wet...the granduer is that you can see the river melt to rambling brook of clear water
