Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Beverages . . .

Tea -whether a cup of hot tea or a glass of iced sweet tea, I love tea especially when flavored with cinnamon

Lemonade - always takes me to spring, regardless of the time of year

Hot Cocoa - with whipped cream and marshmallows. The good homemade stuff, not the watery stuff in a packet.

I don’t like coffee . . .

Rituals: -

🤶 Christmas Stockings Still one of my favorite Christmas memories from childhood. It was exciting waking up find it. (Spoiler 😉: I'm grateful for my mum who filled the stockings so thoughtfully.)

🥪 🍨 Eating at The Plaza on Main St.

🛏️ Making my bed. Somehow, I feel more ready for/on top of the day.

TiggerTrigger: I love your happy mental list before sleep! Certainly better than just listing all the things in the room to keep away those intrusive thoughts. I will try it tonight!

I have a sinus infection right now, so not a lot of energy so i will just list 3 beverages:

Morning coffee
Iced coffee at lunch (I save some of my morning coffee) I guess that could also count as a ritual!
I am about to make some Lemon Zinger and honey. I never drink tea unless I’m sick. it’s very comforting.

Happy Monday - the last day of September :faint::wave:

#1 - A Christmas Card - The first Christmas card my DH gave me when we were 16yrs old. I have it framed and display it every Christmas season.

#2 - Homemade Cards - ones that my girls made me when they were little - I saved every one of them.

#3 - A 50th Birthday Card - the one my mom gave me. It’s a beautiful card with a beautiful message she wrote to me inside.

All the cards & notes I received when I was home after my first spinal surgery- it meant a lot to me that friends & coworkers would go get a card and send it to me !!

Homemade cards & coupon books from my kids - I have kept all of them

Notes from my vet about my pets after their passing - not your standard note - hand written notes - means a lot to me - seen the same vet for over 40 yrs

Happy Monday and last day of September, friends. PollyannaMom, I sure have been grateful to you for kind mail. With all my heart I again thank all of you who sent me a postcard for my dad's birthday surprise.

Cards from my dad are very special to me as is at least one card I still have signed by my grandma.

Notes from kids over the years have meant so much.

Please PM me any of you who would enjoy a postcard 💌

Work-iversary Cards- I've been with the same company over 27 years and while people come and go, names change, and corporate structure evolves, there has always been some kind of anniversary acknowledgement. For the longest time, it was stock cards hand signed by the highest management, but recently they've shifted it to divisions. So, now I get a handwritten card with a personal note from the global head of my division. It's always on this lovely card stock. She's also someone I've known for a while. It's always nice to be recognized.

What I Love About Mom booklet- Several years ago, DD18 bought this little booklet at a bookfair. It has 50 ranked pages where she's written in what she loves about me while fitting in with each page's theme. She also felt bad that it was only from her, so she had DD15 put a note on the last page.

Postcard to DD18 - Back in June, they had us write out postcards to our soon to be college freshman. They were supposed to be delivered a few weeks ago, but DD just got hers over the weekend. It was supposed to be timed with when kids start getting homesick. A little late, but grateful that she got it.

Postcards with messages of kindness and cheer from @flyingdumbo127 !

Until she died, my mom would send me a card for every holiday going. She'd send cards for EVERYthing. August was a bleak month, not one single holiday! She'd also send cards to DD, but those contained a Nana Dollar!

I have a letter that a neighbor's son sent to my mom when he learned my father had died. Denny was in Viet Nam at the time. Just looking at that letter makes me think about all kinds of things. I also have the letter that my father wrote to my mom on the night I was born. Both of these are kind of a touchstone to my past.

The letters I kept from my mom's cousin - we used to write back and forth from the time I was about 10, all through my teens and college years.

The homemade turkey cards (craft feathers and all!) that my nieces made us for Thanksgiving many years ago - that we still put up on our kitchen cabinets every November.

The time my mom sent my now DH birthday cards for every year before she knew him - kid ones and all! (His birthday is near Christmas, and he doesn't usually get many cards.)

Happy October Everyone!

#1 - My Birthday - I’m always grateful to arrive at another birthday. At a time in my life that people my age get sick and pass away, I’m very grateful to be blessed with another birthday and in relatively good health.

#2 - Sweaters - I love my summer clothes, but I really really love my fall and winter sweaters. I look forward to wearing those again.

#3 - Less Yard Work - Once I finish winterizing the yard, which I’m almost done with, then I’m done for the year. By the fall, I’m no longer in the mood to be watering flowers, pulling weeds and other chores that need to be done in the yard. It’s nice to have some time off from doing all that.

The start of the glitter holidays 🤣🤣

Cute warm blankets - so many cute throw blankets - I may have a few or 30 🤣🤣 very grateful for the plush soft blankets

Sweater weather - ❤️❤️ love sweaters it’s starting to get cool enough to wear them - again I may have a few - just a few in every color and length 🤣🤣 you never get rid of a sweater !!

You get that small break of no air conditioning and no heat - you can open your house so your sinuses go nuts from the fall pollen but you save on electricity !!! Bonus you don’t need to water your grass it’s either fine or it’s dead 🤣🤣 either way you’re good until spring !! by the end of October you’re done with Grass Cutting 👍
More savings!!! So you can take all the savings and buy candy for all the little trick-or-treaters because candy is ridiculously expensive !! But I want to see all the cute little kids dressed up for Halloween 🎃
I’m grateful it won’t be freezing 🥶 cold just extremely chilly but I’ll be able to sit outside with my space heater giving out candy those cute little trick-or-treaters

Happy October friends:grouphug:

October means we are moving closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas. I also pray abd fully trust by God's love it will continue to be a month of healing for me and better health for my beloved dad.

Hot chocolate and chicken broth do taste better this time of year. It is supposed to reach 95 later this week.

October is month when both Champ and my beloved grandma by my faith belief became God's angels. I give Him extra thanks for both of them and my grandpa also long in Heaven, too. Extra time to also know what grace it is that dad and I get to go through life together with God day by day.
