Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Did you hear about Kelly Bishop’s new book, The Third Gilmore Girl?
Preordered a while ago and expected to arrive this week

📚 😃 📚

I don’t know if anyone here was ever an Ally McBeal fan, but on the show her therapist, Tracey Ullman, tells her she needs a theme song, and that idea has always stuck with me.
I love that idea!

COFFEE- because of an autoimmune condition I have I am not supposed to drink this - I refuse to give it up - I’ve cut back drastically but I refuse to give it up upon occasions I have had to give it up for a week or two no one would want to be a Rami during this time but as soon as that time is passed I’m back to my beloved coffee - my doctor was like you’d feel better if you gave it up and I’m like no I won’t🤣🤣🤣

OK this one’s gonna sound a little strange but my dog - 🐕 I’m grateful to have a dog Because he’s my morning routine take the dog out get my coffee - a few times in my life when I didn’t have a dog I’ve always felt so lonely - sadly this will be my last dog I’m getting too old to care for a dog - I like really big dogs and I’m just getting too old to be able to care for a close to 100 pound dog so after this one crosses over I will not be getting another one I’ve been very grateful for every dog I’ve had ❤️❤️

Brunch - I am not a get up out of bed person and eat breakfast I have to be up a while - but I do love and enjoy a brunch as those are mid morning!!
I am grateful for all the brunches I’ve enjoyed over the years - many with friends and look forward to more branches in the future!!

Good Thursday Morning!

Morning is my favorite time of the day - I’m a total morning person.

#1 - That I woke up and my DH woke up - very grateful for the gift of life every morning.

#2 - Energy - I always feel very energized in the morning, which makes me enjoy getting stuff done in the morning. I get a lot done around the house before I go to work - I start work at 8:30am

#3 - Social Media Time - I love sitting here with my cup of coffee and go on all my social media pages. Morning is the main time I’m on The DIS and other pages.

#4 (bonus) Going to the Gym - this is my Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday/Sunday or both morning activity and I just love it - I’m leaving for the gym soon.

:hug:and thank you dear PollyannaMom. It would be such a blessing to share pancakes and cocoa with you, my friend. All of dear you in this lovely thread. Checking in here is something I look forward to every day. Thank you all so much.

Morning is also my favorite time of day. A new beginning, an extra step by God's grace to me in recovery and I pray opportunity to kindly witness and share faithful care. Blessing also of being able to go through another day with my dad.

Quiet prayer, reflection, and these days when I take my walks before breakfast. Reminder of the joy I have to be able to move period.

My very favorite regular church service was Easter Sunrise. I pray to be able to attend such a service next year.

Thursday joy to all with love.

“Try Everything” from the end of Zootopia was my theme song when I was going through my cancer treatment. I don’t know if anyone here was ever an Ally McBeal fan, but on the show her therapist, Tracey Ullman, tells her she needs a theme song, and that idea has always stuck with me.

This was one of my top inspirational songs when I used to run. While my cancer journey was different, I could never get any music to play in my head in the moment. I ended up using internal talk to try and visualize places that brought me peace/strength.

Late Arrival Day - Our school district has late arrival most Thursdays. Normally, DD15 and I are up around 6:15 and out the door by 6:45. On late arrival days, the bell is at 9:25. We normally leave the house sometime between 8:45-9. We had a practice on the other side of the city last night and got in late, so I'm really grateful for the extra sleep. She has 6am weights tomorrow and it's my turn to provide breakfast, so that extra sleep today is a real treat.

It's Not Us - There's always a bit of guilt in this feeling, but living in a hurricane prone region during hurricane season means feeling grateful to wake up and have it not be your area. You hate that someone else is going to get hit and go through devastation, but so thankful it's not your disaster this time. I still have some added gratitude I'm holding onto for DD18 as well (crossed my mind again this morning), since some severe storms missed her area on Tuesday. While his chosen profession was engineering, my dad has several degrees in meteorology, so I grew up a real weather nerd...to the point of some excessive fears.

Obedient and Mellow Dog - It makes mornings easy. Out of any dog I've ever owned, she is the most obedient and agreeable I think we've ever had. She also mellowed out really quickly and has been like this since before she turned 1. She's one of those animals that might be unstoppable if she had opposable thumbs. She's "conversational" without being excessively talkative and will come get me if she thinks I need to know something.

Today's Topic (Wed, 9/25) - 3 singers or songs you're grateful for

Christina Perri

Chris Martin

Doris Day

I could name so many more, but I have actually managed to stick to 3!!

Today's Topic (Thu, 9/26) - 3 things you're grateful for that are associated with morning

Quick, easy grab-and-go breakfasts.

Music/Radio to start the day.

I appreciate occasional slow mornings, where I don't rush to get dressed ...and do the crossword with breakfast.

Disney Music - this covers a wide range of music 🎶- through Disney I’ve discovered all kinds of music to listen to and enjoy and I’m very grateful - From the Eat to the Beat concerts / movies / Park Music / music from EPCOT countries etc - I especially loved when Downtown Disney had that HUGE music store - I discovered lots of new music browsing in there from new artist not in mainstream radio I so miss that store !!!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
I don't know why I always forget to mention Disney music; especially, since it's one of my favorite Disney things!!!

The theme to Gilmore Girls - I've been re-binging the show lately, and it just makes me happy to sing along. 🍁🍂🍁

"Where you lead, I will follow..." 😍😍 I know I said on the other thread I was disappointed y the later "Seasons" episode, but I love the originals. Such uplifting and heartwarming characters.

For Disney music, I haven't heard this song in years, but I remember liking Candle on the Water.

Ahhh, Helen Reddy. Lovely song. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I have so many favorite songs, I’m just going to see what spontaneously pops into my head:

I have to go with what pops up in my mind in the moment, too. Otherwise, I'd be here all day!!!

😍😍 I love the idea of a theme tune. (I'll be pondering what mine might be, now). I'd forgotten that about Ally McBeal. I really liked the show - it was so different at the time.

She sounds perfect. ❤️❤️ What breed is she?

I did a lot of self-talk during my cancer treatment. I called my 3 sentences my mantras. It also helped me to fall asleep and stay off the worry train. Not always successful, but it really helped.

Mornings
I love mornings (not too early) now that I am retired. I don‘t have to worry about getting our of the house at a specific time and I can take my time with my coffee.

I love mornings at a WDW hotel. I wake up with so much energy!!

New podcasts to watch :)

Catching up...

Singers/Music:
Paul McCartney
Freddy Mercury
Disney music

Morning things:
COFFEE
That quiet hour before anyone else is awake, even DH, and I can sit by myself and savor my coffee and the peace and quiet of the morning.
Late breakfasts- whether it's just breakfast foods or brunch. I can't always eat in the morning, but around 10:30, I'm SO good!

TGIF Friends

#1 - Our new puppy Otis - If it weren’t for my husband, Otis would never have joined our family. I was very happy with the thought of living the rest of my life without a dog, my husband really enjoys having a dog in the house. Now, almost 6 weeks later, I’m very grateful that Otis has joined our family. He has stressed me out, he’s made me lose sleep, but he’s also given me a lot of joy. He has given me a little one to love and hug again with us being empty nesters. So I am grateful that God led us to him. It was a rainy day, my husband wanted to look at the puppies at the pet store, and we came home with him. If it were a sunny day, I would’ve been in my pool and Otis would not be here. SonI’m grateful for that rainy cloudy day too.

#2 - Our little guinea pig Zoe - Many of you have heard me talk about our guinea pig on here before. She is almost 8 1/2 years old and is still seeming pretty healthy and pretty spunky. She has lived way beyond her life expectancy now so every day is a gift with her. Changes in her physically, that are showing her age, no different than how age shows in dogs and cats. I wonder how much longer she’ll be with us and if she’ll see her ninth birthday. We really love that little guinea pig.

#3 - My daughters baby pictures and little kid pictures that I have framed and hanging in my hallway - we are all partial to our children, but I just got to say, I had some pretty cute kids. I love looking at all the pictures that I have hanging up and remembering the days when they were little. They were good babies, toddlers and little girls and didn’t give me a lot of trouble. After the holidays, I’m going to get both daughters senior pictures printed in different sizes, get them framed, and decorate the fireplace mantle with him. I didn’t wanna do them until I knew exactly exactly what I wanted to do with them, and now I do. I’m looking forward to how they will turn out.
