Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Oooh, please tell me how that comes out! French onion soup is on my list of things to learn how to make.
It's pretty easy from scratch. I get some beef bones and roast them in the oven. Use the fat from that and some butter to cook down about 3 pounds of onions, sliced thinly, with salt and pepper. Cook the onions on medium (or medium low) until they turn dark brown and caramelize. Low and slow is the trick here, and it'll look like you have almost no onions left, compared to what you started with. While you are doing this, you can simmer the roasted bones in beef broth (I buy beef broth at Sam's) to add to the onions, or just use the broth straight from the box. (If you simmer the bones in the broth, you'll want to strain it). Transfer the onions into the broth, make sure to rinse out the onion pan with some of the broth to add to the pot (lots of goodness in that onion pan) and let it all simmer a bit to get happy. That's about it.
If I make the slow cooker version, I'll let you know how it comes out; I attached the recipe.

Good Morning!

#1 - Our Coach & Loveseat - When we redecorated about 6 years ago we found this set and I love it so much. It looks like leather, but it’s not leather - it’s softer and warmer. I don’t remember what it’s called, but it looks great

#2 - Our new patio furniture - it’s a brown wicker. This, along with a new smaller TV, is something we treated ourselves to this summer. We sit out there at night and watch TV. It’s wonderful!

#3 - Chocolate cake - I love chocolate cake. I ate a little much of it at a party last night. The host bought a sheet cake and barely anyone was eating it, so I did her a favor and ate a few people’s worth - LOL

The wild animals I’ve seen over the last week and a half. I don’t have my big camera with me, so some of the pictures leave a bit to be desired. Some things went by too fast for me to get pictures, but we saw lots of furry brown animals. My favorite of the trip was this mama moose and her calf.

Chocolate- The moose made me think of chocolate mousse 😂 What’s funny is my chocolate love and gratitude is more for chocolate candy and frosting, but I’m also grateful for how helpful chocolate milk is for athletic recovery.

Brown hair and eyes… three out of four of us are brunettes with brownish eyes. I’m currently watching DD17s brown eyes and making sure she keeps them on the road during our long drive home.

When I was a kid, I loved making my own chocolate milk just the way I liked it, the correct shade of brown for the desired sweetness!

Dark chocolate, 72%

Dark brown furniture, couch, light blue and brown pattern in the carpet, brown piano, TV stand…pretty much everything surrounding me while I type this. :)

Hug dear PollyannaMom. No apologies! Grateful you are ok, my friend. Prayers you enjoyed extra sleep.

Otter Pop memories of church camp and preschool kiddos who loved otter pops especially the blue popsicles.

Cold, safe drinking water is a daily blessing. I do also drink regular water like a whale.

Fridges and freezers in general along with the true blessing of being able to stock clean, good, and needed food and water in them.

Air Conditioning- praying our power isn’t out for too long, since it’s usually quite hot after storms pass.

Freezers- The deep freeze is usually really good for keeping things frozen for a while, even with power out. Hopefully it will come back on soon enough that we won’t have to trash a bunch of food.

Ice cream- it’s not my favorite treat, but we had one of those pizza cookies the other night and the hot cookie was served with it cold scoop of vanilla ice cream. It made for a great contrast.

Ugh…got home around 9:30 last night and have this today. 😩
