Three Things...Gratitude Thread

The kids - while it's bittersweet as they get older and near young adulthood, that's life. Admittedly, I have never been one to have baby fever and was so grateful when they grew past infancy, diapers, etc. It's also awesome when they grow past that age where they catch every little bug that comes their way. It was liberating when they grew to that point where they started making their own lunches and doing their own laundry. The older one getting her license and not having to rely on me to drive her everywhere was also huge.

Puppies - Not quite the same as the kids growing, but puppies growing into full grown dogs usually means a drastic reduction in messes and destructiveness. They also tend to mellow (some more than others) so you're no longer dealing with a little T-Rex.

Another vote for Knowledge/Wisdom - You often hear people ask if you'd want to go back to your 20s. Most people say NO because of how your knowledge and overall wisdom on all sorts of things grows with age. Yeah...twenty-something me was cute and tiny, but I'm always thinking "if I knew then what I know now."

1. Another vote for kids - @TiggerTrigger - you went through the stages so well. My experience with all now young adult kids is that I've enjoyed each one and still am enjoying these. I also have a great relationship with my mom, so I'm hoping that when I'm 80 like my mom (God willing that I reach that age), I am still enjoying the stages my "kids" are going through. I know my mom does!

2. Plants - we just put in 8 trees this spring and it's fun to see how much they've grown already. DH does take very good care of them - they are definitely his "project" right now.

3. Crops - I live in the midwest and I love seeing the change in the field crops each year.

Education - very blessed that we are offered a free education in this Country

Good Monday Morning!

#1 - My Elliptical - I’ve been using an elliptical for many years, but my current one was my COVID gift to myself when I stopped going to the gym. That new elliptical helped keep me strong and fit for 2 1/2 years (April 2020 - January 2023) during the pandemic. Now my elliptical sits alone in the basement since I’m back at the gym. When I do use it, I always get on and say, “hello old friend”.

#2 - Eggs - I love eggs and eat them or use them a lot in recipes. I especially enjoy them when my DH makes breakfast.

#3 - Eucharist - Receiving the Eucharist is my favorite moment of the week.

Everyday to me is such a blessing from God. I sincerely pray to be living in kind witness for Him. By my faith belief, eternal life and the miracle that is.

Slo, the church I was active in prepandemic celebrated Holy Communion every week. I miss that especially because the "wine" was non alcoholic grape juice so all even me (I don't drink at all by choice) truly wete welcome.

Ears, eyes, energy, and eggs for sure :)

Envelopes containing cards of faith and cheer.

Encouragement! Extra hug to each of you always for kindly spreading encouragement and kind friendship.

E things...

Energy! I hate it when I feel run down or just too tired at the end of the day. Also, having had knee replacement surgery last summer, it took SUCH a long time to get my energy back. I think my biggest change about getting older is that I get more tired, faster. I truly appreciate the days when I have enough energy to get through the whole day at work with enough "ooomph" to spend time with my family and friends in the evening.

Envelopes... This is an interesting one. I love finding an envelope in the mail, addressed to me- and special thanks to @flyingdumbo127 for making sure I got plenty of these during my convalescence last summer and fall! I have a cousin who inherited a lot of the family photo albums (and boxes) so occasionally I'll find an envelope addressed in her handwriting- and I know there's always a surprise picture inside!

Earrings... I have a lot of earrings and like to change them daily to go with my outfits. They make me feel pretty!

Escheatment- This is my most critical job function. It creates an incredible amount of stress and frustration in my life, often keeping me up and night and turning me into a nervous wreck, but it's what helps pay the bills. So, for that...I'm grateful.

My paternal grandmother- Her name began with an E. She had a rough life filled with a lot of health issues including a wrongful death case, but she was the kindest and sweetest person. She was also incredible with food. Her pie crust was legendary, her homemade candies were an amazing holiday treat, her German potato salad was my absolute favorite, and even things like her coleslaw and carrot salad were huge hits.

Ezekiel Saw de Wheel (arr. William L. Dawson)- This is a well loved a cappella choral piece that I was first introduced to about 35 years ago. I have had the opportunity to sing it with three different choral groups, but that first one (performed 3x with that group) will always be my favorite. In the first formal performance, which was the biggest of the concerts, it got a huge crowd reaction...bigger than the finale piece with the orchestra. I still have a copy of that performance somewhere on cassette tape, I recently found a copy of the third performance from us on YouTube, and I have it in my iTunes playlist...although that's the St. Olaf Choir singing. It is one of my absolute favorite pieces of music EVER and it's a really fun one to perform.

Eyeglasses—I know I’ve mentioned how much I love contact lenses, but here’s a shoutout to eyeglasses. I have spring allergies that were really acting up this past weekend and my glasses were such a relief. I just got new ones a few months ago and they are truly making a difference.

Evergreens—I like the way they look in landscaping and appreciate the greenery all year long—plus they are Christmas trees.

Earrings—I wear medium sized silver hoops almost everyday. I feel like they go with everything.

EEEEE

Energy -- whether it's heating water, lighting things up, making things run ...or propelling me!

Essential Oils -- a longtime fan

E.T. -- such a classic movie and I love the music.

Eggs -- enable so much in the way of cooking and, especially, baking.

My Eyes and Ears -- enable so much! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

My DH’s name starts with E and he taught my DGD to call him E when she was a baby. I love to hear her call to him, “Eeeeee” even as she gets older.

E-reader app on my phone and iPad. As much as I also love to physically hold a book, I love to read on my phone and iPad and be able to instantly look up a word or translate something.

Eggs with cheese: well, eating them, not cooking them!

Another for Eggs - We go through a lot of them here!

Learning how to Entertain Ourselves as kids. - I'm grateful I grew up before portable screens.

DH's grandmother, whose name started with E. - I'm glad I got to know her before she passed, and that DS did when he was little as well.
