Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Disney vacation memories, too numerous to list- but they fill my heart with joy (and often, my eyes, with tears!).

When DD was 15 I chaperoned her dance company on a trip to France. They spend 4 nights in host-homes while putting on a collaborative production of The Little Mermaid with a dance company in Vendome. After that, we spent 4 nights in Paris. Yes, I saw Paris with 19 of my favorite teenagers! INCREDIBLE memories to last a lifetime!

Several summers ago, DH and I rented the perfect little cottage on the shore in Maine for 2 weeks. On the weekend between the weeks, we hosted our daughter's elopement. It was just her, her groom, her best friend (who officiated) and her husband, my sister, and my 2 nieces (who witnessed). DD and SIL were married on the beach, then walked through the waves back to our cottage. Everyone on the beach applauded and cheered when they walked by! We went back to the cottage for lunch- a taco/burrito bar- and my niece made the wedding cake. It was a lovely day, and the highlight of that vacation! (DD/SIL had a wedding planned for October but she was starting grad school and had to have health insurance, so they got married "early/secretly" so she could start school!)

Our trip to Maine in 1998, especially Acadia. One of my favorite moments was hanging out in front of Stephen King’s house and watching my DD do cartwheels and round-offs on the grass along the sidewalk.
@bluecastle I'm so glad you liked my little corner of the world! I used to work in Bar Harbor and could see Cadillac Mountain from my office window. Also, DD had good friends who lived directly across the street from Stephen King's house!

What great posts y'all. Vacation memories are what it is all about. I certainly don't think of work memories when I reflect back upon my life.

The 30+ years of visiting our favorite seaside town in Northern OR. With my DW before kids and then eventually taking our babies and watching them grow over the years.

TGIF Friends! :woohoo:

#1 - Decks (our decks) - My DH did such a great job building the 3 decks we have. A small one on the front of house, a medium size one on the back of the house and a large one around the pool, that is connected to the medium one. All the decks are regularly used and enjoyed.

#2 - DISboards - It’s so hard to believe that I’ve been a member for 20 years. I’ve met so many wonderful people in those 20 years.

#3 - Dads - I’ve been blessed with great dads in my life. My stepdad (RIP) was a wonderful man and I loved him very much. My Dad and FIL are wonderful men too and I love them both very much as well. My granddad/grandpa (RIP) was awesome and I miss him all the time.

Definitely on my list as well! I just checked, and it was 18 years for me just a couple of weeks ago. :earsgirl:

Also seconding Dads - My Dad and my FIL are both awesome!

And three of my own:

December - because I love the holiday season 🎄
Delight - something to cultivate and allow ourselves to feel every day :Pinkbounc

Dawn - because I'm an early bird 🌅

Dads- It was really nice to have mine in town last weekend (along with my mom) for DD17s graduation.

Daughters- It's not always easy, but they bring so much to our lives. I know she's only going to be 6 hours away, but I'm bracing myself for August when the older one moves into her dorm.

Disney- I don't think any of us would be posting on this thread if it weren't for Disney. I mean, this is first and foremost a Disney forum. Disney has brought us movies with stories and characters we love, home entertainment so we can have it anytime and anywhere, vacation joy, as well as a community of people who share a fondness for all things Disney.

DDDDD

Dads, of course. ❤️

Disney World/Land, of course. ::MickeyMo

Then: -

DENIM (jeans, jeans, jeans!)
DURAN DURAN (New Moon on Monday; Union of the Snake; Rio; Save a Prayer...)
DONALD DUCK (one of my favorites)
DARK CHOCOLATE (maybe with a touch of sea salt)
DOLPHINS (personal association)
DUVETS (cosy, but lighter than blankets and sheets)
DECORATING (always a fun part)
DISHWASHERS (obviously!!!!!)
DICTIONARIES (so handy and it's not quite the same looking things up online - not least because physical dictionaries don't have cookies and ads to navigate)

Disney details: besides all things Disney that I love, one of my favorite things to do at WDW is to take photos of all the details that just make it so special. I take photos of trash cans, soda machines, signs, decorations, etc. And my DD does too. We take a lot of the same photos every trip!

Dove, symbol of peace

My FIL whose name started with a D. He was a positive force to be reckoned with. :)
Although we complained at the time when he took so many videos of our get-togethers, we are all grateful to have them now.

DISboards, for sure. I've been hanging out here for 25 years, oh my gosh!!
Disney, also DisneyWorld. All these go without saying, so I'm gonna do three more "D" words!

Daughter- I love DD30 more than life itself. She is my joy, my motivation, inspiration, and closest friend. I am always, endlessly grateful that she loves me without question and also wants to be my friend!

Dance- This is also a DD extension... I took dance classes for 18 years, so dance has always been a part of my life. DD is a dancer. She trained of over a decade, danced with 2 local companies, and has danced with and choreographed for companies as a paid professional, as well as a teacher. She's been "out" of dance for a few years due to medical issues and a change in lifestyle, but she went back to it as a student this year. In fact... last night was dress rehearsal for her dance school's recital this weekend. I went to rehearsal (I used to work as stage crew for the dance school and was on the board of directors for the ballet company) and I have to say, she looked incredible. it's been a few years, but she is still the strong, emotional, graceful dancer she's always been. I might have gotten something in my eye, watching her dance again- I never dreamed I'd see her on stage again!

Donuts. I adore donuts, and you'll notice I didn't say "a" donut; that's a plural word in our house! I rarely, rarely buy donuts because I just can't stop at one (besides, if you are at Dunk's or a donut shop, how do you choose just one??)

D is easy!

1. Dawn-Ok, I am thankful I am here, but I am also thankful for the dawn of each new day I get to continue to be here.

2. Dogs-they are the best creatures on earth!

3. Doctors-very thankful for doctors. My dad was a doctor and I miss him terribly. So, add d for dad too.
