Three Things...Gratitude Thread

I'm going to do people who's names begin with M:

My Aunt Mary, who is absolutely wonderful, and has done so much for me over the years, and been a wonderful role model!

Another friend also named Mary. - I'm grateful to have a walking buddy, for playdates when our kids were little, and because her garden sometimes overflows into my fridge. :rotfl2:

And my grandmother (who also had an M name) - for so much loving attention over the years, and for all the thinks she taught me!

Not a massage person at all either, dear PollyannaMom:grouphug:

My name starts with an M. I pray daily to be used by God to spread kind faith, witness, and joy, make a difference to Him. Messiah Jesus!

Morning by morning, His Mercies are made new. Great indeed is His faithfulness." Each new moment indeed is a precious gift, a blessing that I pray to chetish.

Memories and God willing new memories to come.

Froends here whose names start with M. Mother Mary, of coourse, too. How beyond courageous she wss!

Three things starting with M…

1. Mom…always there for me.

2. Marriage…been married to my partner in crime for 32 years, with, by the grace of God, many more to come!

3. Memories…current one, our vacation to Holden Beach with my parents and our oldest daughter. Great adults only trip…plus our dogs. Much needed down time for hub and I…decided at the last minute to invite my parents along, so glad we did and that they are still around!

Couldn't decide between these two, so take your pick:

Today's Topics (Fri, 9/1) - 3 things you're grateful for...

That are black and white, like a chess board

or

That are handwritten

(Bonus if they're both! 😎 )

I’ll take on the challenge of both…..

#1 - I’m grateful for my mom’s black piano with black and white keys - I took piano lessons on this piano and I remember loving listening to my mom play when I still lived at home. This piano is now 58 years old and is very special to my mom. She made me promise to not throw it out when she dies, so it will become mine. I have no idea where I’m going to put it, but I’ll find somewhere.

#2 - I’m grateful for our black and white Guinea Pig named Zoe - I’ve mentioned her before - she is so special to us and has become even more special since our Sophie dog passed away last summer. Zoe is now 7 years old and her life expectancy is 5-7 years, so she’s old, but she still acts young. She‘s making a noise though that makes me nervous and her white is yellowing. We’ll be very sad when she dies - especially my DH. I’ve already asked the family owned pet store where we bought her if they’ll help me find another Teddy Bear Guinea Pig after she passes and they said they will.

#3 - I’m grateful for all my kids seasonal artwork (they have handwritten things on them) that I display for the different seasons - some of these items are 20 years old. I treasure these - I love them more every year.

#4 - I’m grateful for all things that have my grandma’s (RIP) handwriting on them - recipes, backs of pictures and more. She was the matriarch of our family and we were very close.

I’m old fashion I still write letters to several friends - I have several out of state friends and we write letters and send cards - grateful for my friends & that they still uphold this old tradition
I have black & white checkered curtains love the look ! Grateful I could find them and like how they look
I don’t play but I enjoy listening to someone play a piano so grateful to listen and admire their awesome talent to make such beautiful music

Handwritten items…

1. All of children’s height markings on the door from our first home that we have taken with us to all the houses we have owned…currently used as the door to our game closet in our basement tiki bar.

2. All the handwritten notes and recipe modifications from my grandmother’s cookbook.

3. The first card and letter my husband gave me.

Happy first of September everybody!

1. 101 Dalmatians! But specifically the live action version with Glenn Close that movie was on VHS repeat in my house when I was a kid!

2. Zebras. Always been one of my favourite albums ever since I was a kid

3. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit! Will always have a soft spot for him I wish he was out meeting in the parks more often!

Black and white: Scripture in my Holy Bible! Hymns, too. Of course, other books! As a kid I loved Oreo cookies. Not able to eat them now but good memories. Dad enjoys playing the piano. Not for me! Glad he does.

Old fashioned cards and even signed notes are the best and mean so much to me as a lot of you know! I pray to be of kind witness to Jesus through the mail! If any of you ever would like mail from CA, PM me :)

Dad and I both enjoy writing. Should any of you enjoy writing also please PM me. I would still welcome so much a contribution (as short as 2 paragraphs) to a Christian nonfiction book I am putting together--thank you!

Grandma Dolores had lovely handwriting!

The sketches I have from DCL cruises when I won a drawing the presenter has made. Here’s one of them:

I have many black and white photos from my childhood, and many from my parents, my Grandparents and before them. One especially of my great grandparents in Poland when they celebrated their 50 year anniversary.

A friend gave me a carry on bag, that’s black and white. It fits a lot of things, and has many compartments. We lovingly call in “Cheryl’s “ bag, in honor of my friend who gave it to me.

Black & white: crossword puzzles! I used to do the newspaper ones with my dad every day, and still pick up and occasional puzzle now.

Handwritten: I have some old letters that I'm grateful for. We used to visit relatives of my mom's in Pennsylvania every summer, and her cousin (who was quite a bit older than her and had no kids) and I struck up a pen-pal thing. We wrote from the time I was probably 10 or 12, through college and moving here, right up until she passed away.

I also second recipes in people's own handwriting - way more precious than just looking things up on the internet!

Great answer, PollyannaMom! Dad, as you may remember, sure enjoys crossword puzzles :) Glad you do, too and have good memories of also doing them with your own dad. My crossword preference is the easier and more fun kid type!
