Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Things you're grateful for about this time (or "season") of your life

1 Truly being at peace, the blessing of growing daily in faith, and God's gift extra to my dad and I of our daily walk through life together and in health.

2 Definitely being done or mostly done with that time of month!

3 Spring and Easter to come.

I’m grateful I finally hit an age my female issue has gone away !!! Dealing with it since I was 10 ( yes I started early ) has been a very heavy burden and I’m very very grateful I’m done - menopause was really nothing for me / I had noise issue nothing else / no hot flashes etc - but the medication I took for years dealing with my endometriosis gave me hot flashes so I know those well : I’m grateful that is all behind me 🙏🙏

I’m grateful I can still walk and for most part I’m pain free - I’m not in the pain I was before my 2nd surgery so I’m very grateful for that - I know the clock is ticking with my bones so I’m grateful they are still working as well as they are 🙏

I’m taking a big new step in my life that is long overdue and I’m grateful that i can now start the process to take it - I’d be very grateful if the process was completed but the other party wishes to make it a long painful affair - im grateful for my friends for their kindness & support to me on my journey - it means the world to me 🙏❤️

1. I'm grateful for our family relationship now that our kids are adults (youngest is 20). They all get along well actually make it a point to spend time together. We also spend time together as a family (sometimes I wish it was more, but I'll take what I can get - we're all busy)

2. I'm grateful for the position at work. I've worked at the same company for 26 years and I'm happy with where I am. I'll probably stay in the position until retirement.

3. I'm grateful for the traveling DH and I are getting to do now that we don't have to work around school schedules. At first it seemed strange taking trips with just the two of us, but I love it now! We actually just got back from a week long cruise and catching a spring training game in Florida before we sailed.

:hug:WDWEPCOT and lol that is funny indeed. Many prayers to you, my friend along with caring :cheer2:as you move forward. Please do remember that all of us care.

Newski Mom, wow, that is awesome that you've been at the same company for that long. They are blessed to have you! I hope your cruise and Spring Training game were a lot of fun🛳️⚾Have a good afternoon, everyone.

3 under-appreciated things you're grateful for
1. Colors!
2. Trash pickup
3. All the behind the scene jobs that keep things running so most people don't even have to think about it

(Wed 3/8) - 3 things you're grateful for about this time (or "season") of your life
1. I have a job that I never knew existed before I interviewed for it that I now love, and was not impacted by COVID. (I was personally offered an interview without applying because I had just left an unsuccessful job in the sister agency)
2. I have come to terms with the fact that I won't get married and have kids of my own. I honestly don't have a desire to anymore. It was always just something I assumed would happen because "everyone" does. And I don't feel those expectations anymore.
3. Despite number 2 above, I still live with family, we all get along, and it works well for us.

Time in my life

1 Where it costs $600 (after insurance!) for progressives...oh wait, the grateful part is I can see!
2 Joining the group that my monthly is gone. Not far from menopause, but right now due to ablation.
3 That I can appreciate that all the mistakes I've made all still molded me into who and where I am today. We need to stop punishing and learn to forgive ourselves!

I’ve had a lot of busyness lately and need to catch up. I got sidetracked on the rhyming one and I should have just skipped it since this is a nice, enjoyable part of my day.

Rhyming:
1. Taco Tuesdays—we miss some, but it’s an easy solution to what’s for dinner and I make lots of different ones to change it up a little.
2. Lefty loosely, righty righty—I still use this to remember which way to turn the screwdriver.
3. The poems my children learned to name all 50 states in alphabetical order and the one for naming the presidents in order. I love that they can do that.

Free for all Friday:
1. Good knives and good pots and pans. Makes cooking so much easier.
2. Epsom salts baths—I like the lavender ones for nighttime.
3. Podcasts—nice on a long car ride.

Relaxing Things:
1. A cup of tea.
2. Fireplace
3. My bed

Y Things
1. Youth sports—all of my girls participated to some extent and it was beneficial to all.
2. Yellow daffodils—a sign that spring is coming!
3.

Historical Figures:
1. Suffragettes
2. Helen Keller
3. Mother Teresa

Underappreciated Things:
1. Hair clips—I use them at night
2. Good shoes—echoing this one, but so important
3. Running water—makes life so much easier and safer.

Season of life:
1. Mostly love seeing the people my children have become.
2. At the point where I can usually come and go without worrying about babysitters, pickups etc.
3. Looking forward to the not doing far off day that DH and I can travel alone.

Today's Topic (Thur 3/9) - unexpected graces/blessings

Three things you are/were grateful for that came out of the blue or that you didn't even know you wanted
1. My girls. Neither was planned. In fact, I was on the pill with both of them...with DD#1, I had a severe ear infection and the ER doc gave me antibiotics...and didn't warn me (nor did the pharmacist) about them messing with the bc; this was in 1989, so no internet to give us information! With DD#2, same situation, but I knew that time, and we tried to be careful, using other things...and she still was conceived.

2. Reese's popcorn. Ran across it one day at Sam's Club, and now I MUST HAVE IT...it's very very good. I'm not big on sweet popcorn, but this stuff I'll eat.

3. Our first trip to Belize! DH called from work one day, out of the blue, and said 'hey we are going on vacation!' We spent a couple of days looking over places; we wanted our first real adult vacation, without kids, without having to do stuff the kids would like, to be out of the US, but wanted it to be fairly close, just in case. Settled on Belize (no need for yellow fever vax, which DH can't have). Four weeks later, we were laying in hammocks, sipping on drinks! Loved it so much, we are going back in 2 months (although to a different resort) for 6 nights.

My Boss - he was made out to be a tyrant and can be - BUT he’s one of the most generous giving person I’ve ever met - ALWAYS helps ! He has the money to do it and doesn’t act all snobbish and rich !! On top of it all he’s paralyzed from the neck down - he’s also the hardest working person I know and DOES NOT get paid a salary for his work !!

Still with my job - I’ve made a two very dear close friends from my job - they are life saving friends and their friendship and help was so unexpected and such a blessing from God 🙏❤️

The DIS - never did I know when I stumbled upon the DIS all those years ago what a huge part of my life it would be and how Thankful Grateful & Blessed I feel for finding my way to such warm caring peeps !! 🙏❤️🙏❤️ I love the DIS and have made several friends and some very close long term friendships ! I even found someone who loves Horse Racing as much as me ! ❤️ so blessed !!! 🙏🙏🙏

Unexpected blessings:

1. DD#3. I was done once I had #2 and it took me quite a while to even realize I was pregnant. And then it took a while to get used to the idea. But now she’s 16 and I wonder where are the years went and can’t imagine our family without her.
2. Family time during COVID—COVID was definitely more bad than good, but I will say that it gave us some unexpected family time in a way that we hadn’t had since my girls were little. No running from school/work to practices and meetings and events. We took so many walks, exploring local trails. I will always be grateful for that time.
3. We had a bad experience with a tenant and had to go through a long expensive, sometimes scary eviction process. The other tenant that we had then took over that apartment and they are fantastic. Way less problems and issues and we trust them 100%.

(Inspiration for the "unexpected graces" topic) - This morning, I randomly stumbled upon the pilot episode of an old TV show I like. :happytv:

When DS and I were in the security line to fly home on Sunday, they opened up an additional line and waved us into it. :wave2:

And a big one - a babysitting job I was offered unexpectedly that turned into "family". 💛💛

unexpected graces/blessings

Amen to the Dis and the kind extra family of friends God has connected me with including all of you:grouphug:
Church family over the years
Acts of kindness such as in a little while getting a free second opinion from dad's dentist.

1.My daughter...to say I was careful before I found out I was pregnant with her at 19 would be an understatement. She ended up being my best surprise
2.Being able to fall into a well paying job with no degree-simply because there was an opening years ago that they gave me a chance to try out
3.This forum-I honestly only expected to use it to look for info(have been a member for years) and just this year started interacting with others, it's been not only helpful, but also enjoyable!

Disboards, definitely! So many in person and virtual friends, plus access to a wealth of information.

My adult tricycle! It allows me to travel around our town. It’s put away for the winter, but soon I will be able to ride. It’s too cold now. I do have to stay off the roads in summer/tourist season.

Orchids as houseplants. I had been of the opinion that they would be hard to grow, but unexpectedly I received two as hand me downs from my sister ( birthday gifts she didn’t want ), and 3 1/2 years later, they are alive and add much joy.
