Three Things...Gratitude Thread

TGIF! :cool1:

#1 - I’m so so so so grateful for peanut butter. No words can describe my love for peanut butter ❤️

#2 - I’m grateful for flavored packaged tuna especially during Lent. The BBQ flavored is really good - I heat it up, put it on a bun and place a piece of cheese on it and it’s very tasty.

#3 - I’m grateful for Boar’s Head brand lunchmeat. I use it every day to make my DH a lunch wrap and I sometimes make myself a sandwich. This is a really good quality brand - a little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Lunch Foods…..
This one is kind of tough for me most days I don’t eat lunch - I either eat my cereal late or have early dinner - when I do eat lunch I don’t eat dinner and I’m usually eating leftover dinner for lunch - so my lunch foods are leftovers - on days I go into the office my employer provides lunch - we get takeout at very nice restaurants ( he lives in nice area and likes to eat well ) so again it’s not your typical lunch food it’s more like dinners - I often just get an appetizer as anything else is too much or I’m eating it for two days .
Some of my favorites that could be considered lunch but I rarely get them :
Cheeseburgers ❤️
Hot Roast Beef Sandwiches
Potato Salad or macaroni salad

Lunch Foods:

This is a strange combination, but here goes - I try to keep my lunches semi low calorie and here's my favorite combination:

Cottage cheese
apple and
either a tomato or green beans. It's a strange combination, but I really don't get tired of it!

I also sub the flavored tuna packets for the cottage cheese sometimes if I'm not going to have a refrigerator to keep it nice and cold until lunch. @slo I love your idea of heating it and putting with a bun and slice of cheese. That sound great!

Lunch foods is a bit tough for me, too, because I am such a simple and plain eater who doesn't differentiate much between meals! Some things I enjoy for lunch are:

1 Sharing Campbell's Chicken Broth with my dad. A simple warm start to our meals that has become a comforting routine that we so enjoy. A time to be stiller and give God thanks for joining us once more at the table.

2 Sprouts Original Applesauce is something I have daily with my lunch. I also often enjoy a treat of Jell-O Instant Chocolate Fudge Pudding.

Lunch Foods:

1. Leftovers—I often eat leftovers from dinner for lunch. Sometimes I even plan for it. Helps with food waste and usually something I like. DH does the same.
2. I love soup in the winter and make big batches and freeze in small containers to take for lunch when I don’t have leftovers or not enough leftovers.
3. Peanut butter—I actually rarely eat a peanut butter sandwich, but I often use it was a “tide me over” snack to get me until lunch or sometimes get me to dinner. I just eat a spoonful—no bread.

Today is apparently "National Pack Your Lunch Day" so let's do:

Today's Topic (Fri. 3/10) - lunch foods you're grateful for
Any food is lunch food, but...

1. Chips. I love chips. Sour cream & onion; BBQ; Salt n Vinegar; all sorts of other flavors. Kettle cooked (meh); Lay's, Pringles, Doritos, etc...bring 'em on!

2. Subs. Big old fat sandwiches, lots of meat and cheese, veggies and dressing

3. Soup. Love soup at lunch

I love subs too. Particularly Italian. I mostly don’t eat them very often, but when I do it’s usually for dinner. We did it last night, but we made them ourselves and they weren’t that good. ☹️

Lunch Gratitude:

When DS wants pizza, and I get to piggy-back on his request. :rolleyes1

When there are leftovers from the previous night that I like.

When I was a kid, we mostly bought school lunches, but when my mom had to pack me a lunch for field trips, she used to send hard boiled eggs. - It was always fun to have a little bit of "Easter" when it wasn't actually Easter.

Unexpected blessings: -
😊 Snow in March!
😊 Recently, reconnecting with an old friend and it's like no time has passed (I know it's a cliche, but it's still a blessing!)
😊 This thread. ::yes:: Definitely an unexpected bonus of being on The Dis.

Lunch!
😊 I agree about leftover pizza!
😊 Marmite, Peanut Butter, Hummus... (Peanut butter is lovely with Marmite, Ooh and it's good with celery. Hummus is also yummy with Marmite!)
😊 A cheese scone with a sweet, crisp apple.

Today's Topic (Sat 3/11) - 3 Tools You're Grateful For

(Don't feel you have to limit this to traditional "toolbox" tools - Favorite writing tools, communication tools, tools specific to your job...everything counts!)

Tools

Dinglehoppers are very handy for combing hair! 😂 🧜‍♀️ 🍴
...Seriously, I have a Tangle Teezer smoothing brush that I really like.

Staple/nail guns are satisfying and make various jobs much easier.

I appreciate a good chopping knife for veg.

And a cordless vacuum cleaner is so much easier and more freeing.

I'm interested to see what tools y'all appreciate - there are so many that make our lives easier. I'll probably be kicking myself for not thinking of them, too!

CALCULATOR❤️❤️ I can do a lot of numbers in my head but omg do I love this handy little tool - bring in Accounting it’s a must have

Pliers or one of those Rubber Grips - I can NEVER get things open - if it won’t open after I bang it on the counter upside down it’s off to get the pliers !!

Automatic Cork opener - Best thing ever for opening wine bottles - again I have no arm strength thanks to my spinal surgery so anything I find that helps I grab !

Bonus - I’m short - I have small step ladder and those extension grabbers and extension stick to dust with - my life is about extension because I’m short - I have step ladders in 3 spots in my house so I don’t have to lug them around
I can’t tell you how many times I use those extension grabbers to get something !! Love those things

These are tools I use a lot daily ( well not the wine) but pliers / rubber grip / extension grabbers / step ladders

I can’t wait to see other tools I may need to get to help me that are helping you !!! ❤️👍
What a great idea you had today - grateful as always !!! 🙏🙏
