Three Things...Gratitude Thread

(Mon 2/27) - 3 Places You're Grateful For
1. My home
2. My church
3. Busch Stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals! :)

(Tues 2/28) - 3 extended family members you're grateful for
1. My aunt . (Dot... that's how she always signed her name when we were kids) and Uncle Al. They invited me on their Grand Canyon trip fro my high school graduation, all expenses paid. It was going to be a trip for their grown kids, their kids' spouses/partners, and grandkids. But one of their grandkids couldn't make it, and they invited me instead. So that just made me feel extra special, and I'll never forget that trip.
2. I really can't leave out my other aunts, uncles and cousins, either...
3. My niece!

(Wed. 3/1) - Three Things You're Grateful For About March
1. Spring! I like winter, but I like Spring too.
2. My brother's birthday is in March
3. While I don't practice Lent, I love the lead up and anticipation of Easter.

(Thur 3/2) - 3 rhyming or alliterative things you're grateful for
(Okay. I had to look up "fun alliterations" for this one)
1. Big Brothers
2. Church Camp or Kids Camp, since that sounds more like an alliteration...
3. Slowly but Surely - Because that's how I feel like I do almost everything, at least physically. Walking? Slowly but surely. Swimming? Slowly but surely. Hiking? Slowly but surely. Sports and games? Slowly but surely. Jumping? Wait. Can't do that one. Never mind. ;)

(Fri 3/3): free-for-all-Friday...any 3 things you're grateful for
1. Girl Scout Cookies. Specifically Thin Mints.
2. The letters I'm getting to support people on my chruch going on short term missions trips. I'm on the missions committee, so it's fun to see everything come together, and it makes me smile that the individuals think of me as someone who would want to support them.
3. Fun things that I ordered for myself that are coming in the mail soon

(Sat. 3/4) - 3 Relaxing Things You're Grateful For
1. Just... Saturdays, in general!
2. The hot tub at the rec center where I swim
3. Music
(Sun 3/5) - 3 things you're grateful for beginning with Y
1. Yesterdays, because yesterdays means I'm here today, and have good things to look back on
2. Yummy food
3. Youths. I love working with the kids at my church. Which I think you all know by now.. Ha!

(Mon 3/6) - 3 historical figures or heroes you're grateful for
1. Al Worden, Apollo 15 astronaut. My dad knew him personally. Worden was my dad's "Radar Officer in Charge" (I think I'm using the right term) in the Air Force, and my dad also debriefed Worden on some of his test flights. So... that's a pretty cool connection for a NASA geek!
2. Billy Graham -- I got to hear him speak at one of his last crusades before he retired from traveling like that.
3. Marin Luther King Jr.

Sorry I am so far behind. The 1st graders I taught last week really took it out of me, and I was exhausted every night. And then they gave me a cold, so other then getting the chores done this weekend I had to do, I laid in bed and binge watched Grey's Anatomy. So here we go:
Today's Topic (Tues 2/28) - 3 extended family members you're grateful for
1. My Aunt Judy. She is my Mom's youngest sister, and has always been there for me. She has helped me when my parents were unable, babysat me when I was little, and is my go to now that my parents are gone.
2. My cousin Bethany - we were room mates for a year and a half, and it was so much fun. She is 9 1/2 years younger then me, but my favorite cousin.
3. My husbands cousins family. We are of an age, and discovered we have ton's in common about 7 years ago. We travel 2 hours once every 2-3 months to spend the weekend with them and play board games.

Today's Topic (Wed. 3/1) - Three Things You're Grateful For About March

2. Spring - need I say any more
3. Spring Break - working in the public school system, always grateful for the break

2. A Dozen Dunking Donuts - Yumm
3. Wow - This is a hard one! Not really sure of number 3 - and since I am playing catch-up, I choose to leave it at two!

2. Pedicures
3. Hot Tubs - do we see a trend :rolleyes1
Today's Topic (Sun 3/5) - 3 things you're grateful for beginning with Y
1. Yesterday - can always learn something from Yesterday
2. Yellow Daffodils - I cannot wait to see them pop out of the ground soon
3. Yoga - I really need to learn how to do it and actually do it, but I know it is good for me!
Today's Topic (Mon 3/6) - 3 historical figures or heroes you're grateful for
1. Jesus Christ - No idea where I would be without the Gospel.
2. Our Founding Fathers - so grateful to live in this country, and the work the founding fathers did to establish the laws of our land.
3. Susan B Anthony - where would Women be with out her?

Glad to see you back, @Caseheidi 🙂 I love that you're close with your cousins! We just got back from a trip to Universal, and we took our nephew with us. He and DS are only a year and a half apart, so they have always been extra close as cousins, and I'm grateful they have each other.

Good Morning Friends!

#1 - I’m grateful for ball point pens - writing with a quill and ink would be awful - LOL!

#2 - I’m grateful for sandwich bags, plastic wrap and press & seal - I know all that plastic isn’t great for the environment, but they sure do make my life easier.

#3 - I’m grateful for Luffa Sponges - I like Luffas a lot more than washcloths.

Ice - I only use it in the morning for my coffee but ever so grateful I have it

Straws - sensitive teeth - I’ve used a straw for just about any and all drinks for 40 yrs - carry my own silicon straws to Disney now

Good Well Fitted Undergarments - Ladies most of us wear them but nothing is better than comfy well fitted bra - if you found one you know it’s like not having one on at all - same goes for your bottom - don’t scrimp in this dept you want to be comfortable and can still look cute ! Not having the right fit will do nothing but cause issues - I’m grateful I found mine - I have no shoulders and back issues so I’m happy I found a style that works and so grateful !!

Good Morning :)

Under appreciated things.

1 Fun seasonal napkins or paper plates that bring dad and I an extra smile when sharing meals together. Little things indeed mean so much and can bring people closer together with happy memories, too.

2 🎶especially of praise sung by children. Also that is for me an extra way to pray and talk with God. Dad enjoys listening to a variety of classical music 💽

3 🔖that keep our place within the pages of a good book. I am most grateful for my Christmas gifted bookmark from a dear friend.

Under-appreciated things:

I'll third bookmarks - I remember spinny racks of them when I was a teen and there was a Waldenbooks in every mall. (Plus, they're a quick and easy craft to do with kids, with lots of variability.

Greeting cards - Even in our digital age, I still enjoy sending and receiving cards for birthdays, Christmas, etc.

And a big one - indoor plumbing! It's one of those things we get so used to having that we forget to be grateful for it.

Underappreciated

1. My Dyson cordless stick vacuum. I take it for granted, but it sure sucks up the pet hair!

2. A good can opener. Underappreciated until you don't have a good working one on hand.

3. Remote controls. I remember when I was the remote. Lol

I remember the spinny bookmark racks, PollyannaMom. I also miss Waldenbooks a lot! Definitely Amen to indoor plumbing and Eksmama, dad and I just got a new can opener that we're grateful for, too.

I hope all of you are having a war and good afternoon.

Indoor Plumbing main reason I could NEVER live in Alaska ( and that nasty cold and ❄️❄️) but for a couple weeks it’s nice but then you got that whole plumbing issue so it’s a HARD No !
AMEN for indoor plumbing !!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Today's Topic (Tues 3/7) - 3 under-appreciated things you're grateful for
1. Trees in parking lots. Nobody really thinks about them, except to try to park under them when the sun is beating down, but they actually serve several functions! They help with noise cancellation; air pollution; and they help surface asphalt temps as much as 36 degrees F (per my civil designing DH). There are even rules about how many trees must be planted in certain sizes of parking areas.

2. doorknobs...because how else would we open a door??

3. Cheerios and Fruit Loops. Best potty 'aiming device' ever for little boys

Today's Topic (Tues 3/7) - 3 under-appreciated things you're grateful for
1. Shoes that are good for your feet. If you shoes are ill fitting or not good for walking, then you know the value of good shoes. The older I get, the more my joints have come to appreciate good shoes. And maybe if you have walked 10-20 miles a day at Disney, you may understand the appreciation of good shoes!
2. Hugs - I got hugs from several 1st graders today, and I only met them yesterday. I am a substitute teacher, and get the chance to meet hundreds of children. When they choose to give you a hug, it is wonderful. The acceptance they have and the warmth it gives me means a lot.
3. Smiles. I love when I am walking down the street and a stranger smiles back and says Hello. It really helps to brighten my world.

I’ll be 2 million behind good shoes ! I’ve said that for decades ! Long before I broke my feet multiple times - if your feet hurt - everything hurts ! I don’t like wearing shoes so I don’t own a ton but I don’t skimp on my shoes - you want nice comfy supportive well fitting shoes ! The older you get the more important this is !! I’m very grateful I can find comfy shoes to convince my difficult feet they’re not in shoe jail !!

Hi Dee Ho Friends!!

#1 - I’m grateful for the wisdom I’ve gained. I’m totally ok with being 51 years old, because I feel I know stuff now - LOL!

#2 - I’m grateful for my marriage being stronger than ever. We’ve been married for 28 years and together since we were 16yrs old (35 years total). We had many ups and many downs of which I’m grateful for all of it, because we know we can face whatever life throws at us together.

#3 - I’m grateful for being done with menopause. I had a hysterectomy in 2018 and it’s been so nice not having to deal with any female issues since (my DD19 is so jealous - LOL!)
