Three Things...Gratitude Thread

It's HUMP DAY friends!!!

I going to narrow it down to 3 things I'm grateful for today....

#1 - I'm grateful that I woke up this morning.

#2 - I'm grateful that I have a coffee pot with a timer so my coffee is always ready for me when my feet hit the floor.

#3 - I'm grateful that my DD19 is still home from college

I'm thankful that my DS is feeling better today than yesterday.

I'm thankful for Disney+ (where he and I have recently begun a rewatch of all the Marvel movies in chronological order.)

I second showers, coffee, and "the lighthearted and supportive nature of this thread" - especially since I blanked on the day this morning! 😆

And I'm grateful that it's sunny out today, even though it's cold.

Just got home frome my surgery. Went like clockwork start to finish and it doesn't "look" like cancer so far. Will know in next two weeks.

Also for Arby,'s that I just wolfed down lol

Eta: big sis just sent me $50 egift card so we don't have to worry about dinner!!

Today's Topic (Mon 1/9) - Music You're Grateful For

(I think we had a similar "things you can hear" topic before, but it was at least quite a while ago. "Music" can be types, songs, technology, artists...whatever.)
1. 80s music...my teenage years :rockband: :music:

2. Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Puccini, Handel 🎼🎹

3. 20s/30s/40s/50s jazz greats Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Fats Domino, Hoagy Carmichael, etc 🎺🎷

Today's Topic (1/10) - 3 things you're grateful for begging with the letter C
1. coffee :coffee:
2. chocolate🍫
3. cantalope 🍈
Happy Thankful Thursday !! ...um...Wacky Wednesday!!

Free-for-All Topic Today (1/11) - any three things you're thankful for
1. thankful I am finally home after being gone for 2 weeks. Even though I came home to having to strip my bed, because my kitty made it known she was not happy about me being gone, by puking twice on my pillow and my bedsheets. Not on Dh's side, just mine, :sad2:

2. thankful we were actually able to get home, with all the airplane problems we had yesterday (no copilot scheduled for our first flight, put us 90 minutes behind schedule; which caused us to miss our connecting flight, which was taking off as we landed). I was able to get us on the next flight out to home, while on the first flight, but our seats were going to be regular tiny middle seats in the back of the plane, separated.

3. thankful for the lady at the American desk, who said she couldn't get us on the First class waitlist for our replacement 2nd flight, because it was full, but managed to get us in exit row seats together on a completely full flight, instead of us having to sit in the tiny seats. :thanks:

3 Wednesday Thankful Extras

1 By the Grace and Mercy, love of God, Dad got some fantastic health news this morning.
2 For Sandro our kind and regular Sparkletts delivery man and yesterday to Miguel the handyman to our building.
3 To all of you for keeping this beautiful thread going.

1) Inspiration for today was my nerve-wracking adventure this morning: rescuing DS's gecko from something called "stuck shed". (Do not Google this if you are squeamish! :rotfl: ) Thank you, YouTube.

2) Driving with GPS. When I first moved here, I was fairly limited in where I could go. Now I am quite confident and really love all the opportunities I have.

3) When I was in college, I volunteered for a children's program a bit like Big Brother / Big Sister (only they bussed the kids to campus every Saturday for group activities with us.) One semester, we were in danger of losing funding, and we started a letter-writing campaign. - It worked!! I am grateful both that the program continued and that the experience reinforced in me (at a crucial time) the idea that "little people" can make a difference.

3 things you're grateful you were able to do, or learned how to do

1) In 7th grade I spent the whole year with the nuns diagramming sentences. That’s served me well. As has learning how to type.

2) On the job I’ve learned so many things. I now have expertise and wisdom, lol, and can share that with younger colleagues. I recently did a resume for the first time in almost 30 years, and It was nice seeing it all on paper.

3) Grateful for learning how to train dogs to become good and stable members of the family.

Adding a fourth

4) Glad I learned how a car works and how to do things like change oil and change a tire. Helped having a sibling who was a mechanic.

...how to swim and how to ride a bike. I enjoyed both a lot as a child. 😄 (I'd love to live near a cycle path now.)

...how to drive. :drive:

...manners and consideration for others. (I feel like we need more community and these things help so much with that.) :grouphug:

Definitely not!

Today's Topic - 3 things you're grateful you were able to do, or learned how to do
1 Baking. I am not bakery level or anything, but I can muddle through a recipe quite well.

2. Map reading. It's not used as much today, because of GPS and apps like Google Maps, but a few times we've been caught without internet or with incomplete maps on the app. Having a map, and knowing how to use it, saved our bacons!

3. Touch Typing. I used to be good (on a typewriter, I used to average about 70 wpm), but have slowed down as the years have gone on. Still helps so I can type and do other things at the same time.

Hi DIS Friends!

#1 - I’m grateful I learned how to custom picture frame with all the bells and whistles. This was my life for 25 fantastic years.

#2 - I’m grateful I learned how to cook. I’m no awesome Chef, but I do alright and we all like what I make.

#3 - I’m grateful I learned how to do everything I do (softball) so I could/still do practice with my DD19 over the last 12 years. In fact, I’m going today to throw her a ton of balls for her to practice hitting, hit her a bunch of balls to practice fielding and then other drills I do with her. We have had the best laughs and memories during our practice sessions. I’ve had my accidents - 2 teeth broke & pulled out from getting hit in the face with a ball, broken finger from being hit by a ball, ER trip when I got hit with a ball, massive bruises that turned the most horrific colors and I don’t regret any of it. Loved every minute and it was worth it for her to reach her goal of playing in college.

3 things you're grateful you were able to do, or learned how to do

1. For sure, learning how to swim. As I am aging my walking is difficult, I have foot pain, balance issues, but put me in a pool, and I am so very happy!!

2. Read

3. Learned to appreciate nature. Birdwatching, gardening, watching the ocean, all have given me pleasure and opportunities to meet people and share.

3 things you're grateful you were able to do, or learned how to do

1 Be still!
2 I pray better appreciate God's gift to me of every day and extra time with my dad us both in health.
3 red and Eksmama, definitely cookies!🍪
