Three Things...Gratitude Thread

I love October too. The trees, the temperatures, the feeling that a new year is starting. ( I know that’s a little strange, but I have always felt like fall is the beginning of the year. Maybe because I went straight from being a student to being a teacher!)

O Canada: from when I started watching hockey as a kid, I have always loved singing along to this anthem.

Olive oil: must be cold-pressed and from Italy. I add it to my dinner every night. Believe it or not, when I was a kid and my mom was making spaghetti, she would let me have a spoonful of olive oil!

Good morning, everyone. My life has been busy-busy, some good, some challenging, but I will try to "play" more consistently again!

Things that I know how to do:
Sew- My mom taught me to sew when my legs were long enough to reach the foot pedal on the sewing machine. In 9th grade when my classmates were making aprons and skirts in home ec, I was working on a velvet formal dress. I made my wedding dress, my sister's (and she lived in NOLA while I was in San Francisco, so I actually made it twice, once in a solid cheap fabric that I sent to her, she had fitted and sent it back, and I used it as a pattern for the real, satin wedding dress), too many formal gowns and bridesmaids dresses to count, and numerous men's shirts and of course all our Halloween costumes across the years. I also volunteered as costume mistress for my daughter's ballet companies and made WAY too many tutus over the years!

Organize! I am an organizer by nature, although you wouldn't know it by looking at my house, hahaha. However, if you need something planned (big events, trips, etc), a car packed efficiently, or someone who is really, REALLY good at dishwasher tetris, I'm your girl! I like doing this- it gives me a sense of accomplishment, although DH says it's just because I like being in control!

Drive- I love driving. It's my release when I am stressed. In the winter, I'll crank the heat and the radio, open the windows, and DRIVE. I also love the sense of adventure that driving brings me, the freedom to just take off, be, and organize myself internally.

OMG, I SWEAR I didn't read @slo's answers before posting!

Know How to Do
- Sing - DH doesn't know it yet, but I think my existential crisis is going to lead me back to the stage
- Decorate Cakes - it's kept DD18 safe over the years and given everyone some pretty awesome cakes
- Use a DSLR or Mirrorless Camera - There's usually a big difference compared to phone cameras

I’m really good at handling how do I put it like emergency stressful situations and keeping a clear head I don’t know if that’s something you should be proud of but I’ve been through so many of them that I am really good at it I know what to do I know how to do it and I can handle it very efficiently actually - you don’t like if someone gets hurt or something bad happens I’m your person
I’m very good at decorating I enjoy doing I do it a lot I like going thrift thing and finding things and repurposing them
I’m a very organized person I like organizing things rearranging things and finding a better way to keep my things
Now if I could just get better at fixing things that would be amazing !!! But my brain does not work that way I’m more of a number person or in the creative department not in the fix-it department Be very grateful to get a little more fix it

Walk into Goodwill and find $20.00 bills all over the shelves

Typing... image all the high school peers in the 70s....who needs typing?? they asked and didn't enroll in beginning typing

Domestic cleaning up after a holiday dinner...I was a bachelor till I was 30....so standing in the kitchen was never a problem ..none of my brother in laws will help after a massive family dinner and I allow my wife to visit with her dinner guests while I clean up the entire event

I forgot about math! I never was good at math, never was encouraged to really learn it. I discovered during sophomore year that I'd better take a remedial math course or I wasn't gonna get through college, so I did, and it was OK but I still didn't really "get" it. However... I spent 3 years as an in-class support paraprofessional, meaning I sat in 3 8th grade math classes a day, and MAN, did I learn math! I like that I now understand the rules and can do 'everyday' math easily. I'm good through algebra, I think, and IMO that's really all you need to manage the day to day things. I DO enjoy being good at math.
