Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Prayers dear Slo:hug:

Dear Leebee for most of my like Kraft Mac and Cheese was my very favorite food. Several years ago the cheese was made different and that changed. I don't heavier foods anymore but Kraft mac and cheese will always have a place in my heart. It was often a comfort standby as well through a not always safe or positive childhood. I do eat Kraft singles daily today which are orange.

My current car is white. God willing one day I will be able to drive it again.

Yellow: autumn leaves, especially when they are lit by the sunset

Orange: the decorations in MK this time of year, especially the pumpkin ones

White: this is a tie between the sports cream I use every night on my back and the whipped cream that I have started to add to my iced coffee. It is lower in sugar than I thought and makes me feel lie I am really treating myself. And don’t worry, I never get them confused. ;)

Today's Topic (Thu, 10/31) - 3 things you're grateful for about Halloween

(or Thursdays in general if you don't celebrate the holiday)

I enjoy seeing the kids all dressed up in their outfits as my kids are grown and I won’t be getting grandkids so I enjoy seeing the kids and it’s a thing here to tell jokes for your candy so I funny the jokes

I enjoy seeing everyone’s yard deco - scary or cute it’s all really nice

Most of all I like getting the candy out if my house so I’ll stop eating it !!! Very grateful it will be gone tonight - come 8:30 PM one lucky kid is getting whatever I have left to take home to their house !!!

I don't celebrate traditional Halloween so will go the Thursday route, thanks dear PollyannaMom.

These days Thursdays are general when Vivian my PT comes. I am blessed to have her helping me recover.

In years past, Thursdays were special to me for church choir rehearsals. I was truly blessed by my faith belief that God had me be part of His choir family at the time I was.

I just learned/was reminded thanks to Google that my beloved late grandfather was born on a Thursday way back in 1917.

Wishing all of you a safe and happy day.

@slo Hoping for a speedy recovery!

School Dress Up - I love that the high school allows them to dress up for Halloween. DD15 wore a fuzzy sheep onesie to school today and her friend is Little Bo Peep. For school softball, they broke up into groups for judging. So, she'll be Dave from Alvin and the Chipmunks later on today.

Costco Candy - Costco had a massive bag of good chocolate for $20. Candy is so expensive that I'll take whatever sales we can get. Kroger's coupon was only 25% off this year, but it worked well for the cheaper candy. This way I can give out handfuls vs. a few pieces.

Memories - From Halloween's past for me, to when the kids were younger, to that year we went to WDW for MNSSHP and we all dressed up and trick or treated in MK. Love it.

Side Note- We finally are getting rain...which my decorations HATE. Every year, it's like they are a little rain dance. So, no illuminated display tonight, but I'm grateful for the rain I semi-credit them with bringing. 🤣

Happy Halloween Friends 🎃👻

#1 - Memories of Halloweens Past - Great memories of visiting our parents to show them the girls in their costumes, and also going trick or treating with the neighbors and their kids. Awesome memories!

#2 - Spending Current Halloweens With Neighbors (same ones as mentioned above) - Chili, Hotdogs and Mac & Cheese tonight. Also, if their youngest is home, she’ll go trick or treating and give me all her plain Hershey bars.

#3 - Wearing My Halloween Vest - it’s fun, it’s ugly and I love it!

🎃 Halloween traditions - for example: There was a period when DH and I were a young couple that we could both take Halloween off work, and we used to go to two movies, starting at like 10:00 in the morning, then be home early to hand out candy to the trick-or treaters. I'm grateful for simple, invented traditions like that.

🎃 The Halloween crafts I used to do with DS and the kids I babysat for when they were little. (I might still have a tiny handprint ghost on the corner of one of my cabinet doors. 👻 )

🎃 Great weather here for families going out tonight!! - I hope we get lots of kids and see a lot of clever costumes!

Our neighborhood is great at Halloween! So many people decorate their houses and families come from other neighborhoods to trick or treat here!

Memories of all the costumes my DD has worn. We really never went for the ghoulish stuff like some of her friends. My favorite is still the one I “made” for her in preschool. A red sweatshirt and sweatpants and a white outline of a stop sign on the sweatshirt. Simple and warm! (Although this year with a predicted 80 degree high today, not so comfortable)

I love giving out candy, talking with the kids and families, and seeing all the costumes they come up with. It’s a fun night! And this year, as a bonus thing to be grateful for, my DGD is sleeping over!! (We will have to save our traditional scary movie viewings until tomorrow night) :)

Wow! I didn't realize that I was so far behind.

Yellow - the yellow dashed line on a 2 lane country road so I can pass the slow pokes.
White - my white car to pass the slow pokes on said yellow dashed lines
Orange - orange Starburst

Halloween
Not a huge fan of Halloween but really liked the DL decorations from a trip long ago.
For the last few years we have turned off lights to discourage ppl from coming to our house. I know, how can you do that? What about the little kids that are all dressed up? I get it but it is really for our dogs. The do a great job in defending our house from the mean UPS/FedEx drivers by barking crazily but it would be way over the top with all the trick or treaters coming to the door.

I often go to Disney in November and I’m going this year !!!

I gain an hour - but sad part it get dark by 4:30 pm but I get sun ☀️ earlier in the morning to potty my dog 🐕

The trees are beautiful they are so colorful but sadly they drop their leaves and you have to bring in your Summer items in anticipation of that dreadful event called winter 🥶!! We’ve had that horrible stuff ❄️ in November but I believe they are predicting a above average winter 🤞🙏

I’m counting the days until late Spring and Warmer weather!!! I hate winter so much !! I had a discussion with a friend of mine the other day and they were saying how they enjoy so much the changes of the season and Christmas tree and how lucky I was to get snow ( really ?) you can fly to snow you don’t have to live with it I’m like I can put my Christmas lights on a palm tree and be perfectly happy on a beach for Christmas!! 🎄 🏝️

Happy November friends!

Grandma Dolores I believe through my faith is celebrating her 106th birthday right now with God and my grandpa. It brings me a smile to also picture them both being able to enjoy whatever food or treats they wish.

Give Thanks is a favorite hymn of mine. It's also a reminder to me of this season of extra Thanksgiving.

Holy season of Advent approaching.

DD15 - Her birthday is next week! She is the #1 thing I am grateful for in November.

Thanksgiving - We love turkey and Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I will be making my first trip of the month to check on the turkey prices and stock. My goal is four decent sized birds this year, but we'll see how it goes.

All of the holiday stuff that becomes OK - While I know the holidays are tough for some people, I'm grateful that I'm still able to have it be a joyful time of year. I will probably allow myself to start playing my holiday playlist today. I'll be watching the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving for the first time this year a little later on today. I have certain Christmas specials I allow myself to start watching by mid month. Thanksgiving is late this year, so it means I'll be trying to decorate early (softball travel will impact that).

Good Friday Afternoon Everyone!!!

#1 - Thanksgiving - I really love Thanksgiving! All of us getting together and sitting around the dining room table makes my heart very happy. As I sit there, I reflect on the family members that have passed away, and am grateful to have had them in my life for however long or short it was.

#2 - Christmas Commercials Starting - I enjoy Christmas commercials so much - they are so bright, happy and fun. I'm sad when 12/26 comes and almost all of them go away.

#3 - Our Christmas Trees Go Up - I love my Christmas trees, and normally I'd put up 4 of them. This year I'm not putting up DD21's tree since she's only going to be home for 1 week over Christmas. I'm not putting up my Grandma's fiber optic tree, because of young Otis (our 5 month old puppy for those that don't know). So that leaves me with our 2 big trees, and that's enough. Each tree takes me 5+ hours to put up. I love the way they both look when they are done.
