Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Weekends.... just because!
Wanderlust... Keeps me traveling and exploring.
Weddings... I love to go to weddings. Usually it's a chance to dress up and dance, and everyone is happy. Unfortunately I am at an age where nobody is getting married anymore. Not sure if I'll ever get to go to another wedding.

My water bill . . . It may sound odd to be grateful for a bill, but the last two months the bill was inflated due to a leak in my irrigation system (to the tune of nearly 35,000 gallons of water). We believed we had it fixed, but I was still nervous waiting for this month’s bill. It came today, and we are back to normal again! I’m so relieved.

I am grateful for winter, when I can turn the AC off. I hope it actually gets cool enough to need a jacket this year . . .

WDW . . . If it weren’t for WDW, I would have had a much more drab life, and I wouldn’t be here with you fine folks.

There is no time limit on grieve except a lifetime it’s something you learn to live with not get over because you don’t get over it I’m still grieving a very close friend it’s been 40 yrs and it still hurts - at times unbearably some people don’t understand that or it makes them uncomfortable but it’s just a fact of life if you love you will sadly experience it
I don’t know if you’ve seen this, but it is a perfect representation of grief.

Friendship - I learned a year ago who my true friends were and I am very grateful for them and treasure our relationship

Appliances - don’t wish to jinx it but I’ve got a refrigerator I’ve had for over 33 yrs 🤞it’s in my garage now but it’s still running - they don’t make them like that anymore I’ll be sad when it’s gone

I’ve have some Disney clothes that are very old shockingly ( where does the time go ?) I am very grateful for them - some are over 30 years - jackets / sweaters etc

Christmas Decorations- the ones you get on vacation or the ones your kids made - such awesome treasure to pull out every year and have that memory again !!

Good Morning!

Holy Moly - I love Gobstoppers!
You all may see this as a poll now next week :thumbsup2

#1 - The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago - Not only am I grateful that it’s been in existence for over 100 years, I’m also grateful because my DH works there. We’ve been going there our entire lives and taking our girls their entire lives.

#2 - My Grandma’s Mirror - she bought it in 1943 and it’s safely hanging in my living room

#3 - Our parents - My parents are 79 & 77 and my inlaws are 79 & 76

Daisy Duck, I love your answer of a sense of wonder!
Thank you! That answer was inspired by Carl Sagan, who often spoke about that on TV.

I visited Chicago once, long ago, and that museum was by far my favorite place there!

Omg love polka dots !!
I snagged several polka dot hand towels in different colors several years ago I just love using them polka dots just make me happy they are so fun !!!
I often try and find cute polka dot sweaters and have several - again love wearing them such fun !!!
I try and find plates and bowls with some polka dots to decorate with - again I think the theming is fun always grateful to find them as long as they are not over the top clownish looking
I have found several glass bowls & vases that I use in the summer to decorate with as I like the look for summer !!!

Long-lasting things:
  • Well-built furniture
  • TV shows that keep coming back strong season after season
  • Jello popsicles (my aunt used to make them when we were kids, and they were slower to melt than regular juice ones)

Polka dot things:
  • Seconding @WDWEPCOT with towels
  • My Minnie ears, with the polka dot bow!
  • Duct tape I found in the same "Minnie" pattern

I can picture those candy dots right now. Thank you for the sweet memory, Bluecastle. Related but not a dot, I really liked as a kid multi pastel color chocolate candy balls. I think they were Dutch chocolate candy. I also think there was a similar tasting candy also in multi pastel colors that was more flat in shape with perhaps a tip like you might see if frosting on a cupcake at the top. I will Google both treats tomorrow to try and find a picture. Sweet Sunday dreams, dear friends.
