Three Things...Gratitude Thread

TGIF Friends! :cool1:

#1 - Lettuce/Salad - So grateful for this so I don’t have to mess around with a head of lettuce.

#2 - Cereal - I love my cereal, and it may be in a box, but it’s actually in a bag and then the bag is in the box.

#3 - Frozen Peaches - I love these and put them in my vanilla protein shake, that I make, after I workout.

Happy Friday!:grouphug:

Slo:hug:Dad sure enjoys his granola cereal which come mostly in pouches but sometimes in a bag inside a box. Enjoy your breakfast my friend.

Dad and I 90%+ use Boost delivery from Ralphs to get cases of Aquafina and sometimes bulky packages of paper towels or toilet paper (both sort of in a bag or at least an outer pastic wrap) delivered directly to us. Yesterday, besides water we did get a few items that were packed inside a Ralphs plastic grocery bag.

Nestle Milk Chocolate Chips come in a yellow bag🍪

Coffee beans. We are a big coffee family and usually buy Folger's Black Silk in a plastic "can" but we also use beans, occasionally, and the kinds we buy always come in bags.

Spice drops, spearmint slices, oranges slices, etc. You get my drift. I far prefer chewy, "jelly" candies to chocolate.

Flour and sugar. DD is a wonderful baker!

Ice - As we're thinking about driving home to tough it out for a few days, I'm reminded of buying bags of ice. We really only buy it to fill up coolers, but you don't realize how much you rely on it until there's none.

Mystery Bags - As you get older, life has so few fun surprises. It's been a while, but I love the surprises in mystery bags of Disney pins (even if some are scrappers). Recently, I've seen a number of companies doing mystery bags for batting gloves. DD15 doesn't need a new pair yet, but I'm so tempted to try it with her favorite brand. Then again, my luck, she'll get something hideous that she'll never wear.

Aquarium Fish - OK, not that they originate in bags, but I always loved getting new fish and admiring them in their little bags during the ride home. I promise, I never treated them like Darla in Finding Nemo.

Good Saturday Morning! :yay:

#1 - Museums - Many say museums are geeky or nerdy. I love them and always enjoy learning new things. I spend a lot of time to do the reading at each of the exhibits. Now that my DH works at a museum, he enjoys them and respects them way more than he did in the past.

#2. Libraries - I don’t have a need to go to the library anymore, since I get my books from the library online for my kindle, but I used to go there all the time before the kindle days. I’d take my girls faithfully every 2 weeks in the summer, and often during the school year. I’m very grateful for the local library.

#3 - Word & Number Puzzles - I enjoy doing them, to pass the time, in the car on road trips. I don’t like doing them on my phone or tablet, I like using a paper book with a pencil. It’s something I can do and still have a conversation with DH as he’s driving, and it passes the time for me very quick - especially if I’m doing a hard Sudoku puzzle.

Seek n Find word puzzles

Doing math in my head - like making change / perception off amount when shopping / figuring tip / etc

History - I love history - WW2 /Kings & Queens over the decades / Dinosaurs 🦕
I enjoy watching tv specials and documentaries and I read books about it all the time

Research Resources- I have been accused of being a wealth of useless information. If something piques my curiosity, I want answers. Pre-internet, that meant hitting the library or volumes of encyclopedias. Now it’s more a matter of trustworthiness of internet sites.

Cosmic events- Obviously, the eclipse was big for me, but I have my annual geeky traditions like getting up in the middle of the night for the Perseid Meteor Shower. Our last home was much better for viewing, but I still try.

Artsy Stuff- I’m by no means an expert on all or even most, but it’s a never ending source of knowledge and fascination. I remember giving a friend tips on touring the Met and I got a little too excited about a couple of pieces where you can see a master’s work and compare the shared techniques with a nearby work of his mentor.

Saturday love to all,

Slo:grouphug:I love your answers of libraries and puzzles. Dad went to our closest small library yesterday. He and I agreed God willing once I am fully back to normal we we would both enjoy (we haven't been their since Covid) going to the huge central library downtown. What a blessing going to any library will be📚

Dad daily does crossword puzzles both found in the 📰and in puzzle books. I enjoy doing word searches meant for kids. The kid's version of word searches are often in larger print, have cute themes, plus contain 15 at most words to find which is perfect for me, puzzle patient wise lol. Dad and I both have fun finding missing objects in color hidden picture books meant for kids.

All of dear you know how I feel about old fashioned 💌Sadly with postage prices continuing to go up (one last reminder that prices increase tomorrow) snail mail seems to be less encouraged. To me it is a blessing to be able to send as I'm able.

I used to get those books full of 1000 unusual things to know I loved those books I found them so interesting!! I enjoy reading and researching things !!! I like to say I’m a Google expert 🤣🤣 helps when we watch jeopardy at lunch !! 👍 my average for the big question at the end is about 70% all the other question not as high 🤣🤣

@WDWEPCOT, I'm a big Jeopardy fan as well! My family has a tradition of trying to guess the Final Jeopardy question from just the category. - We call it getting a "Golden Jeopardy" if we predict it correctly.

Other geeky things I'm grateful for:

The Super Carlin Brothers and Through the Griffin Door YouTube channels, where I indulge my love the Harry Potter books/movies.

Trivia podcasts on Spotify. - These are the ones I'm listening to lately:

Geeky things . . .

Computers - no matter how trendy the influencers get, it was all started by a couple of geeks

Coloring - it’s very relaxing and doesn’t require much thought

History - In all its forms, books, documentaries, etc. I love learning about the past and how it affects the present and future.

I love words and looking up their meanings and origins. This has been further facilitated and enjoyed since I began reading on my kindle app. I am currently reading the complete Sherlock Holmes and there are so many quotations in other languages (mostly French) and references to items from that time period that I had no idea what they were. It is such a joy to have that instant access to a dictionary and wikipedia entries.

I know it will not be considered nerdy or geeky here, but I have been steadily researching WDW, first with guide books from the library and now mostly online, since the early 90’s. I can’t even begin to count the hours I have spent doing this!

I also love museums! Even small areas in Epcot, like the Stave Gallery, are not just a respite from the crowds and heat; I love reading all the info in there.

Music - I enjoy several genres of music just about everything except opera ( never could get into it but appreciate their ability to do it) and rap ( not for me ) some I especially enjoy are big band / swing / reggae / Africana / Caribbean tropical type music you know beach music !!

Mountains - absolutely beautiful!!! I don’t wanna climb them just admire them

Movies - great entertainment and sometimes knowledge
