Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Good Snowy Morning by me
Winter has arrived to the Chicagoland area ❄️

#1 - Rubber Bands (the big thick ones) - I use them all the time

#2 - Rubber gardening gloves in the Spring - I use them when planting flowers & plants

#3 - Another vote for tires - you can’t go far when you have a flat

Tires - not only flat but low on air sucks up gas and dangerous for you steering your car - you could also have blowout and that’s super dangerous- tread gone bad again - can’t stress enough especially in winter to have good tires ! Helps keep you safe in these nasty conditions that I love so much (NOT) 🥶❄️🧊

Killing time at MCO, waiting for our flight to BWI/PWM...

Rubber things:
Snow tires. Never had them until about 7 years ago, but they make a world of difference on my Kia Soul.
Rubber gloves at work (although they are probably some sort of vinyl or nitrile). Can't safely handle dry ice without them.
Rubber duckies are so cute! The resident 7yo has a whole collection of them, all wearing different hats.

1. Another vote for good functioning TIRES… I think most of us have been that person with a flat more than a few times in our lives. We’ve also passed that person on the side of the road struggling with their own tire nightmare, hoping they safely work it out while also praying that we’re not next.

2. Rubber blender gasket- That simple ring is the difference between the fairly neat and clean production of smoothies and milkshakes vs. a big mess. The older one was making an avocado cilantro pasta sauce in ours this summer, forgot the gasket, and it was quite the green oozing mess.

3. Rubber seat grips- My two favorite bleacher seats don’t have hooks or straps. They utilize little rubber grippers to keep the seat in place.

I will chime in and be thankful for good tires. It’s been a long time, but my Dad was always checking them for me. Thinking about how he did that to help me be safe is a wonderful me for me.

I use many rubbermaid small plastic containers with tops. The ones that I remember most fondly are small ones. I would keep them with me as I walked my dog, Buster. Buster had been a stray, and he needed lots of positive reinforcement and I kept tiny bits of hot dog in the container in my pocket. Buster was our second dog.

Today's Topic (Sat, 1/13) - 3 rubber or plastic things you're grateful for

Just got caught up from being gone for a few days, so just going to jump back in.

1. Ziplock bags. I use them for lots of oddball things, so very grateful for them!
2. Garden hose - so useful in the summer for watering plants and the yard when needed
3. Storage totes - So great for storing seasonal decorations and lots of other things!

Another vote for those! We had an attic issue a few years back and now we only put things up there in totes, not cardboard boxes!

Refillable water bottles (not the expensive ones popular right now, just basic plastic ones I happen to like the size and feel of). We have two each of three colors - purple for me, blue for DS, and green for DH, so there's always one clean to use, and we always know whose is whose.

Good Very Cold (-10 by me) Morning

I’ll narrow it down to things I’m grateful for this weekend…..

#1 - Staying home all day today - it’s so nice to not have to be somewhere

#2 - Free Time - I’m using it to deep clean rooms in the house

#3 - The cold (weird, I know) - It’s nice to know that nobody will unexpectedly pop over today. I don’t like being interrupted when I’m trying to get work done.

Summer - can’t come soon enough -25 with wind chill today calling Uncle Mother Nature send Canada their weather back I don’t want it send us weather from Mexico please 🙏
Doctors - so very grateful for mine
Vet - my new vet who would get me in when my kitty was sick two weeks ago and again Friday when he became deathly ill and was so very compassionate to me in the whole process and hardly charged me anything ! So hard getting into a vet these days around here I called 10 before I found one I could get into as my vet of 40 yrs would not get me in - sadly the condition my poor kitty suffered from off and on for 10 yrs did him in ! I’m very grateful to the very kind vet who talked to me for over an hour to help me make the decision and helped me with the whole process. Such compassion! I told my kitty all our past pets some he knew were waiting fior. Him and he was going to have such a great time with them and to tell them all I said hi and I love them ! ❤️

Thank You you know I never thought I was a cat person always been a dog person but having head cats because of my DD for the last 30 years I really miss having a cat which I find quite shocking I spent all last night looking for a rescue cat I actually found one that I kinda like the look of I’ve probably lost my mind and it’s just grief but I’m really considering getting a cat He looks just like my cat that I just lost same type of breed I placed an inquiry we’ll see I don’t know but I do know I really do miss having a cat I didn’t think I would but I do
My dog is not a snuggler but my cat always was and I think I really miss it Cats are just different from dogs one thing nice about cats you don’t have to take them outside when it’s -25° 🤣🤣

WDWEPCOT :grouphug:I am also so sorry about your cat. He is indeed having a ball with old friends. All of them are restored to health with God. Thinking extra of dear you and you know I agree always about summer!

From yesterday, plastic things:

Plastic wrap we use daily to cover appleasauce cups (grateful for these souflee cups from Smart and Final, too) and other things. Plastic spoons fit in here, too.

Plastic bags are sure handy of all kinds.

Definitely storage bins and plastic envelopes with the white string tie, too.

Sunday Freebie

A new day by God's Grace to grow, serve, praise, and live. Worship Him extra through online church.

One more day closer to being fully recovered God willing. Tomorrow will mark 6 weeks out of 8. This week ahead, I will be in touch again with the podiatrist to make a virtual and God exrra willing in person appointment. Getting stronger each day. Much less ibuprofen needy. Dad's help is still needed for me to get up from a chair. I am keeping in extrs prayer that should it be God's will, I am 100% healthy and walking normally in exactly 3 weeks which is dad's birthday.

Guideposts magazines are most enjoyable especially for quicker upbeat reading right now. I was able to get a great deal on a 3 year subscription price matched by them. PM me if you would enjoy reading an older issue :)

I’m so sorry about your cat. It’s so difficult when we lose our furry family members.
