Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Today's Topic (Thur. 11/3) - 3 Things You're Grateful For...Related to Weather

(inspired by some of yesterday's post - so definitely OK to duplicate!)
1. Rainy, gloomy days. We don't get many here in FL, but when we do, I really enjoy the break.

2. Sunny days. We get a lot of them here in FL, and I like the boost to my mood.

3. Snowy days. I never get them here in FL, but when we lived in places that did get snow, I loved watching the pretty white floof.

Let me bring you into my Autumn snow-globe:

More of Pooh's blustery days blowing leaves off the tree in front of my screen, to me it is a joy to catch a little leaf lifted off a branch and carried down, as if by angels in a gentle spiraling dance.

It is a joy that the swampy heat of late summer has finally lifted and I can open the windows to some cool air that occasionally catches the smell of burning leaves, a final grass mowing or the sounds of happy kids spilling out of the bus rushing home to play outside.

November weather means the weeds are all gone and now the sturdy fall Mums can finally take center stage, I love seeing all the pretty clumps of color dotting everyone's porches accompanying pumpkins and scarecrows. It's almost as if the homes themselves are gathering the flowers, pumpkins and hay bales up to their doors like a person gathers a warm blanket up to their neck to really snuggle in when weather gets brisk.

1. Bright sunshine, even on days it's freezing cold. Grey skies are such a downer. :sunny:
2. Cool, low-humidity nights even on the hottest of summer days.
3. A phenomenon called "Chinook Winds" - warm air coming east over the Rocky Mountains that can raise winter temperatures more than 20C in less than an hour. It happens 5 or 6 times every winter and it's SUCH a huge relief from the bitter cold. It's also fun to watch the snow disappear before your very eyes! :beach:

Toilet Paper

They at times May or may not be inexpensive depends on your point of view but I myself don’t care to be without them and I’m very thankful to have them
I’ve been without several at different times in my life - I value and treasure all and I blessed !!🙏

TGIF DIS Friends! :cool1:
Sorry I missed yesterday - very busy day

The Free or Inexpensive things I’m grateful for….

Air - totally free and can’t live without it. Every night when I go to bed I thank God for blessing me with another day of waking up and breathing.

Hugs - another free item. I love giving hugs and I love receiving hugs.

Now for an inexpensive item :scratchin….so so many things I can put…..
I’m going to go with something in my grocery cart yesterday….
Chicken breasts - so grateful for them. We eat a lot of chicken, and if I couldn’t buy them in the store, then I’d have to raise chickens in my yard - that is NOT for me :sad2: I know someone that has chickens in their yard - there is no way I’m doing that - LOL! . (no offense to those who love raising chickens)

Today's Topic (Fri. 11/4) - 3 Free or Inexpensive Things You're Grateful For
1. vaccinations/flu shots! Keeps us healthy, and doesn't cost a dime OOP

2. EOS shea better shave cream, vanilla bliss. So smooth, doesn't take a lot so a bottle will last me 2+ months. Best of all, I don't break out

3. chickpeas. Very versatile, and tasty!

3 inexpensive things I'm grateful for . . .

1. The library. I love reading and listening to audiobooks. Our local library has a wonderful children's room and offers various classes, programs, and museum passes. We've even borrowed from the "Library of Things" which is really neat. They have all sorts of non-traditional items to borrow, such as a Harry Potter coding kit or a telescope.

2. Crafting. I enjoy working on both physical and digital projects.

3. Wi-fi. I realize this may not be considered inexpensive to many. For us though, we got a decent deal on an internet-only package (we cut cable years ago). I am old enough to remember being tethered to an ethernet cord so wireless is a big improvement IMO! We are big users of internet (family of 5 with 2 adults working from home). So many of our home devices connect to the internet and I enjoy being able to access from anywhere in my home/yard.

Somehow I missed yesterdays--so will do both now--
3 Things You're Grateful For...Related to Weather

1.I love the change of seasons. I can't wait for Spring to start, when everything starts turning green and blooming. Then I can't wait for the crispness and coolness of Fall after the hot summer. Winter isn't my favorite, but I do love the first snowfall, as long as it doesn't accumulate!
2. I love a moonlit sky filled with stars at night.
3. Rainbows after a rain storm, always make me catch my breath

3 Free or Inexpensive Things You're Grateful For
1. The beauty of nature. It's free and always makes me thankful
2. The joy of taking a walk and enjoying the weather
3. The free love that is given to me by friends and family (including my DIS family!)

Free/Inexpensive Things:

1. I always seem to return to the trails near my home when I think about things that I am grateful for and they are free to me. It’s an incredible resource to have.

2. Library: I don’t use it as much now, but when my kids were little we were there multiple times a week for story times and different programs. Loved it there.

3. TV: cable is expensive, but we have that for the rest of the family. Most of what I watch is on the basic channels I could get without a fancy cable package. I enjoy watching a few shows at the end of the day.

I enjoy fall weather, but I am so, so thankful that I can travel south in the winter to avoid the cold weather where I live. I have no use for anything related to cold, snow and ice so I am very thankful that I can travel to escape it all long term. I'm not exactly a snow bird yet, but I only come home for a few days before I'm heading out again to escape.

1) Echoing the library!! I love the library and use/used it a ton - for myself and for DS when he was growing up - books, movies, museum passes...

It was huge for me as a child, too. (I even remember one place we lived that my parents didn't really like much, but I was grateful for how close it was to the library!)

2) Along that same "community space" line - playgrounds!! One summer when DS was little, we made a project of exploring them in all the neighboring towns - a new one every week. It was so much fun, and only cost us the gas to get there.

3) ALDI - which is far less expensive than my local grocery store, and which I had the chance to stop at this morning. (Bonus thankful - the customers were so chatty and nice to each other!)

I listen to many, many audio books from the library. It's a wonderful, free resource that I really enjoy taking advantage of. I'm with you on that. As a matter of fact, I believe we've discussed library audio books in the past. If I'm mistaking you for someone else I apologize.

A bird taking a bath in a puddle, but this is a lucky one, there are easier things:

A cookie warmed just enough for the chocolate chips to be soft
Smell of cinnamon warmed on an oven tray or cinnamon with sugar on a bit of buttered toast, or like just the smell will make me happy
A nice warm bubble bath

Today's Topic (Fri. 11/4) - 3 Free or Inexpensive Things You're Grateful For

1 Jesus! His Presence always and being able to however a teeny way say thanks through my life. Extra grateful to Him forever for the added love and care, time with my beloved dad both of us in health and the love and support of extended family and friends, too.

2 This very thread and all of you in it :)

3 A simple smile or kind word can make a life changing difference to all hearts :)

For sure, the Public library! I enjoy some of the programs as well as the books!

The CDs I have that have the music I love and over the years I have played them so much that the sounds are very inexpensive.

Water, itself and water views, whether lake, ocean, waterfalls, creeks or my pond.

Related to Weather (11/3)
1. That I live in a place with all four seasons. (They may come all in one day sometimes, but that's another topic...)
2. Freshly fallen snow. I love how quiet it is.
3. Light thunderstorms with low, long rumbles of thunder.

3 Free or Inexpensive Things You're Grateful For (11/4)
(I'm totally stealing all three answers for this one. Sorry! Ha!)
1. Love
2. The public library/reading
3. Jesus/Salvation

1. :lovestrucI also LOVE the library. I haven't been inside one for literally years, but most of my reading and all my audio books come from there, via download. Our library actually eliminated membership/card fees quite a while ago, so use is completely free and since the downloads return themselves, I also never pay late fees! :thumbsup2
2. Free computer games I play on msn.zone and many, many entertaining and informative webcasts I watch on Youtube.
3. My "new" old clothes. I have a chronic GI condition that resulted in a fairly substantial (and passive) weight loss this summer. I am delighted to be two sizes smaller than I have been for years and there are so many things in the closet that fit me again; it's been a lovely overhaul to my wardrobe.
