Three reservations for one meal

I'm not saying that I would do this, but is there anything stopping someone from making breakfast, lunch and dinner reservations at restaurants and only using one a day? I thought of this because there is a day of my trip where I am not sure whether we'll make our lunch reservation so I thought I'd make a dinner one too in case we missed the lunch one. Then I thought, "What would stop someone from making three a day for their entire trip to make sure that they are always covered?" Is that possible, or will Disney only let you make one a day if they see you are on the dining plan?

You are allowed to make multiple dining reservations on your trip whether you have the dining plan or not. You don't have to use any or all of your DDP credits on any particular day. Now making three knowing your only going to use 1 is not that nice. I would not make a habit of it.

You can do it but you might be stopping someone else from getting a reservation they would use. If you do this, make sure you call and cancel the reservations you wont' be using that day.

They won't stop you. On one day of one of my trips I had 2 meals booked and YES I went to both. If you don't plan on eating at all booked meals then The only thing stopping you is what you feel is right. The reason it is wrong is because someone else may be denied that 1:30 lunch at Le Cellier for a party of 4 they so badly wanted because it is being held by someone who probably won't use it. Thats sad.

Please don't do it! I have been trying to get the reservations I want since my 90 day mark, getting up early, being on hold forever, only to not be able to get a reservation at all. So please only make reservations you plan on using.

Besides being extremely unfair, it could be very costly. Last year Disney Dining were going after people who did this and cancelling all of their reservations without warning. Perhaps they will do the same again this year.

that was only people who double booked the same meal (i.e. dinner in mulitple locations at the same time)... the OP is asking about having a PS for a lunch and a dinner... those should not get cancelled... if they did, i'd be livid 'cause last year on the the DxDDP we ate sit-down multiple times per day!

I agree, I understood the OP to be asking about making multiple ADR's for DIFFERENT meals, not the same one. No reason you couldn't have an ADR for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as long as the times didn't overlap (like a late breakfast and an early lunch).

God bless you if you can eat 3 sit downs as day-I can't take all that food and the Florida heat.

And I do agree that it is not nice to make multiple ADR's for the same meal, just to hedge your bets as to where you might be when its time to eat. We actually switched to the QSDP this year to avoid that problem, but do have a few TS we are paying for OOP. And they aren't even anything that exciting (Garden Grill, Tusker House, SanAngel Inn)

Of course you can make a reservation for each of the three basic meals each day. People (most people) eat three meals a day.

But if you're doing it with the intention of actually only using two, please don't; or at least, please cancel one as far in advance as possible.

It is essential to have reservations for certain meals, if you would have a hope of being accommodated, so regular visitors to WDW (and long-time participants in this Disney Restaurants forum) consistently recommend having reservations for such popular meals. However, life sometimes intervenes, and sometimes more than sometimes. While it sure doesn't seem right to occupy three coveted dining reservations slots in one day if you absolutely intend to only use one, back that back a little to you simply being unsure about whether you'll use one, two or all three (i.e., using all three is a possibility), and many folks would not see a problem with it, as long as you conscientiously (attempt to*) cancel reservations you don't plan to use, as soon as you realize you're not going to need them.

* I've noted that Disney generally doesn't traffic in canceling dining reservations. I typically get, "Oh thank you for being so considerate," but it is clear that the reservations agent isn't going to do anything to free-up the reservation slot. They're not really waiting for us to arrive. It'll end-up seeming to the restaurant as a no-show, even though a cancellation was called in, and they'll perhaps account for it by pulling in an additional walk-in. [Incidentally, canceling dining reservations (or at least attempting to) is one of the main reasons why we carry a cellphone at WDW.]

I agree, you can have a reservation for each meal on one day with the hopes that you can go to all three, if you are not using one of your reservations, then I would cancel it so that the spot is freed up for someone else to take. Just a courtesy call to DD or if I am in that particular park, I may walk up to that restaurant in plenty of time and say I will not be using my reservation today, here is my name, this was the time.

That's really a better idea (especially given my lack of success getting Dining reservations to make it seem like they really are cancelling my reservation) -- perhaps we'll just carry little cards with our reservation number on each with us, like we normally do, and if we decide to cancel I'll just write "Please cancel this reservation, when you get a chance," and drop it off with the check-in CM at any Disney restaurant.

I think is the the biggest problem with the current system.
there's nothing to stop people from doing this and just not showing up.
A few high end places require credit card holds but not many.

And this is why some places fill up so fast because people do do this
to give themselves a choice not caring about how it hurts others.

Well, let's keep things in perspective. The restaurants where reservations are essential aren't ending up with empty tables as a result of this. Instead, generally, these restaurants fill those tables in other ways. So the transgression being discussed helps as many people as it "hurts". Indeed, there is a significant contingent of people (myself not among them), who resent the whole idea of having to plan meals so stringently and so far in advance, who are aided by the fact that a number of people are no-shows. This doesn't excuse making reservations you have no intention whatsoever of keeping, but rather points out that this isn't a matter of how much harm doing so causes.

Even easier - dining reservations can be cancelled by phone; at Guest Relations in any park; at ANY restaurant podium for any other restaurant; at the reservation kiosk in DHS when it's open.

Sorry, I misread the post. That makes it only unfair, not dangerous.

If you think you will have problems making the lunch ADR then why even book it at all if you are sure you will make dinner?
