Three Princesses and a June Trip to Disney World with pics, Final Update Aug 11th

I have too been reading! I enjoyed the US day- I have never been there and really don't know anything! Loving reading all these reports as we get ready for our trip! Smart BBB box- we are splurging for our dd 4th birthday and going during our trip- but taking one we can afford- the baby won't know or care!

Nooo....there's no more to read...I need my next "fix" of your trip report..:rotfl2: I started reading and want to know what happens next!!! Anyways, I am with you on US...DH & I went to Orlando in April and DH wanted to do some of the coasters at US...I said "Fine, that might be fun!!" So, we bought the deal they had on online tickets...(I think $88/per person for the week at the 2 parks?) Anyways, we only ended up using it for one day! It was fun but by any means it NO disney!!! DH also agreed! He enjoyed the coasters but I think secretly he loves disney just as much as I do  (:woohoo: ) Which is great because I know it's gonna be an annual vacation for us (especially once we have little ones!!)

Anyways, keep the installments coming!!:cheer2: BTW, what do you teach? (I am guessing physics....so that must mean your a high school teacher :teacher: )

Hi IlivXU! Glad you are keeping up here! :goodvibes Oh that sounds so nice for your DD4! I am sure she will love it!
I didn't study US too much before we left since DH said you just go around and ride whatever you want. He went in the off season before and said the park was practically empty. It was crowded by the time we left so if you do end of going in the summer I would suggest getting there early!
Have fun on your trip! When do you leave??

Hi Ice Princess! :cheer2: Thanks so much for reading! I am going to be working on the next installment. I was working on a sewing project so it sidetracked me a bit. Its all done now so I will show it to you all soon. Anyways, US is good but I agree ... its NOT Disney. However I was expecting it to be like Great Adventure (we have one about 1 1/2 away and its a bit run down). It was definately better than that.
You are so fortunate your DH likes Disney....mine is just ok with it. I dont think he wants to go back for a while. Thats ok...I will just have to go without him!
I teach physical science...are you a teacher? :teacher:

An Update Not Related to Our Trip!

Hello All! How is your week?? I just love being at home, though the days are all blending together! Is it Wed midway thru July already??? :confused3

Well, a friend of mine is going to Disney in Oct. They have 4 children and they are really cute kids :cutie: There oldest son is so sweet and has manners to put any other kid to shame. My girls love playing with her two middle daughters and their youngest son just turned one. Anyways, I have been looking at a sewing/custom clothes thread here on the Dis (Pronounced D-i-sssssss) :rotfl2: and asked her if I could make her an outfit like they show there. She said YES! Now here soon to be 7 year old is an Ariel Fanatic of the First Degree....I mean this child sleeps in Ariel PJs exclusively and loves loves loves her. So an Ariel outfit was a must!

Unfortunately in my area we are definately lacking in stores...and a fabric store is out of the question. I called 9 stores including Jo Ann's Fabrics (45 min away) to see about getting what I needed. Course no one had what I wanted and I didn't want to bother DH with ordering off of Ebay. So I went on an all-out search Monday to find what I needed. I got a cute purple outfit in her size from KMart that had the colors I liked. Then I found a tank top with the most beautiful Ariel applique on it. I bought it too. Then I went to the fabric store and looked around. Then I went to the mall and the Disney store. Here's where I struck gold. They actually have iron on appliques and they had Ariel!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so excited. I went back to the fabric store and found some green striped fabric that sort of resembled sea weed. I snagged some sea shell shaped buttons and some ribbon and I was all set!!!!

So that evening and all day Tuesday I assembled my Ariel masterpiece. The only problem was that I had never appliqued before. It isnt too hard but does take practice...by the third letter I was getting the hang of it:rolleyes: I tried my best. So now my orginal $9 outfit is probably worth $40 or $50+ bucks! I would really have to master appliqueing before I actually would sell something but I think it will make a nice gift for our little friend.

Here are pics galore:

Oh and I forgot to say that I also picked up some beads and Ariel stuff for decorating flip flops. I made them into a matching bracelet and necklace. I also used left over ribbon to make a hair bow:

And there you have it folks! Next time we go to Disney, I will be making outfits for us! Or at least altering already existing outfits for Disney. I wish I could do this full time...I love it. That and scrapbooking when I am not out horseback riding or Dissing :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You are so crafty Cathy! Great job and thanks for sharing the pictures! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes :thumbsup2

How you made your hairbows? Where did you get Disney buttons... did you find Disney ribbon. I am thinking about making one or two for our trip! Do you have any helpful hints?

PS I could scrapbook and DIS all summer away too- I am also a :teacher:

Awesome job!!! I love the Ariel letters on the leg. Was it hard? I know nothing about sewing!!!! I have to beg my mom to see if she could make something for my princess:

Are you going to make some for your girls too? Please share if you do!:goodvibes

Hey neat Iluv! Lets see, I had three types of ribbon, I cut in strips and criss-cross them. I cut the ends so they are a v shape. For the red dot ribbon, I wrapped in around and gathered in the middle. I sewed all together and put a shell button in the middle. I sewed a mickey head button too...as a hidden mickey on the outfit. It took maybe 20 min tops. I got everything at Micheals Craft or JoAnn's Fabric. Try it....you'll have fun....check out the custom thread on the Dis too...they have lots of types of bows. Watch out though, its adddictive! ;)

You are so talented Cathy I wouldn't know where to start :rotfl:
Jo I learned to sew in middle school sewing class....I am sure you could do it...just gotta read the directions...its like cooking from a recipe....course I can't cook very well so :rolleyes1
Wow Cathy, what a fabulous job you did! :)
Hi there Rootskate...thanks for checkin in! I will have to get a real update soonerish....you have been so good about lookin in on me here. :thumbsup2

ThumpersMom - I am sure you could do it. I ironed on some "heat and bond" to the back of the fabric. Then stenciled the letters upside over then cut out the letters. When I was ready I took the backing off and ironed it on the pants. Easy peasy mac and cheesey! I know you could do it. The other iron appliques were simple too. Just place on pants or shirt, iron over it for 20 sec, let it cool, and peel off the backing. Whaaaa-laaaaaa!
Start with already done clothing like I did and then add a few Disney touches. You could do it!!! If you need any help let me know!!! :thumbsup2

One funny story today...about cooking....my DH put dinner in the crock pot and put it in the fridge with instructions for me to turn in on around 10 am.:hourglass Did I remember??? No!! I forgot until 1/2 hour before he got home. :sad2: Good thing for hamburger helper!! :rolleyes1 I am so busy with all these crafts and socializing and taking the girls to lessons and doctors appointments and to see friends...who's got time for chores???? :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

I gotta settle down soon or else :headache:

PS. - Le DH couldn't have cared less as long as we ate something....we ended up having peas, corn, brocoli, cantelope, rolls and HH! All good and life is back to normal! :cool1:

Cathy you are sooo crafty!! I wish I was crafty like that :) I think that'll start now so I can be a pro like you once I have kids :woohoo: Anyways to answer your question...YES I am a teacher :teacher: I am a substitute right now (going on 3 years and NOT by choice :sad2: ) The retirements here are next to none and in order to even get an interview you had to have 3 years substituting!! I actually just want to be a SAHM but with the lifestyle I want (annual trips to disney...:cheer2: ) that's not gonna happen!! Luckily, I LOVE TEACHING!! I mostly teach grades 1 to 4 and would love a grade 1 class of my own one day! :rolleyes1

Anyways, keep up the awesome TR!! (just because I love the dancing banana...lol)

Oh my, Cathy! You are seriously talented. ::yes:: What a creative eye you have! I love it and I'm sure your friend is going to adore it! :goodvibes

Awwww thanks Tracy! Your trip is ever so much closer! How many more days? ;)

Oh I cook unless DH grills something...I am not a fantastic cook thats for sure ( no fancy gormet meals here) ....but I do do it. Your favorite person (Courtney) gave me a great recipe once for the crock pot and it was yummy! But usually its the same 10-15 meals. I really should take a cooking class or something just for new ideas. I have cookbooks but honestly...most stuff from recipes isn't tasty. Do you like Rachael Ray? I love her 30 min meals show. I should try to make some of her stuff. Part of my problem is that DH insists on doing all of the grocery shopping (with coupons he saves tons of money) and so I just cook whatever he brings home. I really should make an extra effort to try new stuff. Ok enough rambling about cooking....lets eat!

::yes:: I agree!!! What should our shop name be??? :confused3 ;)

Hmmmmmm lets see Goofyluver and Twob4Him.....How about Goofy To Be Disney? Naaaaaaa, Ummmmmm... I don't know....what ideas do you have
