Okay, not a genius human baby ;) but a pretty darn smart cockatiel baby!

Daddy Piper was the only one of our birds that can talk (well, the droid boids can mumble "hello boidies" but not clearly) His favorite thing to say is "Pretty Bird"

Well we were sitting down watching TV when we realized that a bird was saying "Pretty Bird" and Piper was nowhere in sight! He was in the nesting box on egg sitting patrol. We thought that there was no way the babies would be talking because we haven't been trying to teach them. Next thing you know, Bumble - the youngest Cinnamon cockatiel of only 3 months old - looked us right in the eye and said "Pretty Bird"

Pretty impressive that something so young picked that up so easily. I better watch my mouth around him now - who knows what he might pick up! :rotfl:

I had to LOL at your post and what words the bird would pick up. I had an aunt who had a bird she was trying to teach to talk. anyway she spent hours and the bird never said a word. During this time period they had a lot of company and kept telling the same joke over and over, in the joke was the phrase "the full of SOMTHING." Anyway, one day the bird starts saying FULL OF SOMETHING

Best part was when the bird kept saying it over and over when they had a priest to dinner :rotfl2:

Yes, best be careful what you say in front of your pet :lmao:

Our DD said her first word when she was four months old.
*Really*. She's now 13 and still going :teeth: .

Yeah, you gotta watch what you say around any little ones. What sounds ok coming from an adult's mouth sometimes sounds just *awful* coming out of a little kid's (or bird's)...

agnes!

Lauri's brother is constantly attempting to teach her older birds how to say "bull ***" so I think we need to keep him away from Bumble since he seems to be open to expanding his vocabulary at the time. :rotfl:

Wow, Bumble sounds like he's going to be a handful! :)

We have a 7 month old S.I. Eclectus who looks just like the parrot outside of Pirates of the Carribean. We've been spending the last two months singing, "Yo Ho, Yo Ho a pirate's life for me" to him. So far he just tilts his head and stares at me like I'm crazy, but I'll get him singing that song yet! :teeth:
