HI ~

We are going to the world Sept 20-27 with free dining, we are going the same time as other family and some friends.
We all have ADR's for each night..some nights together and some nights separate tables on the same night.

For example, one night we have a table for 4 and a table for 3 at Kona cafe within 15 minutes of each other.

When we go up to check in at the podium at the resturant, I was thinking of asking if we could possibly get a bigger table or at least sit NEAR each other??

But I don't want to rude, ask too much, or cause any trouble..

Would you ask, or just sit where ever they put you?

Thanks

It's not rude to ask...I am sure they will try to seat you all together if they can.

In the words of the immortal Bob Varley - "Just ask...they can't hit ya'!"

I would ask. If they can they will if they can't they won't. But you never know unless you ask and buy the way you are talking you sound polite that makes a difference to. Good luck & have a nice trip.

Thank you all for responding ~ I always get alittle apprehensive about these things..I don't want to be seen as a "problem guest"!

Thanks again!

Definitely ask! It can't hurt. The worst that will happen is that you do not sit together. Hopefully it'll all work out for you!

I certainly don't think that they will look at you as a "problem guest" for a request like that. You would only be a "problem" if you would insist on it and make a big fuss if you can't get what you want. CM's enjoy being able to make things special for people if they can.

I would call to alert them to your wanting to do that before leaving for your trip. We had the same situation in May 2007 when my brother and his family had ADRs at CG at the same time as we did. I called and asked if they could change our 2 reservations into 1 big reservation, and they said they could not. However, they obviously noted the fact that we wanted to be together on the info about our ADRs, as our two tables were adjacent to each other. We were able to enjoy the meal together. It seems that if you call before arrival that they may have a better chance at saving 2 tables (or maybe 3 in your case) near each other.

Good luck!

I wouldn’t call it rude. You might have to wait a little longer to get seated if they have to wait for tables to open up next to each other but that might be the case even at the local Applebee’s.

I don't think that it would be rude at all but I would be prepared for them to add an auto gratuity for a group of six or more, even though you have two different ADRs.

Keep calling. We had 3 tables at Turf Club for dinner for 10 people. And another night our Ohana reservation was for 9:10pm. The dining cms told me to keep calling that people cancel all the time at the last minute. We checked in early at both places. We were able to tables pushed together at the Turf Club. We were seated 30 minutes early at Ohana. Each time we just asked nicely and were given a little pixie dust.

If you can arrive a little early for your ADR - it will give them some time to get your parties seated together. I think most places will do their best to seat you together - if they can.

This should work just fine - we did it at three different meals last summer, with a party of 16! There was no problem at Le Cellier (our ressies were 30 minutes apart there!), Liberty Tree Tavern, or Spoodles. (We had a group decide to join us after original ressies had been made). Le Cellier and Spoodles sat us all together, and at LTT they put us at 2 tables next to each other. Just check in early with EVERYONE present, and politely ask.

A problem guest would be someone who showed and said "We are the Jones and our friends the Smiths have a reservation in fifteen minutes. Sit us together."

Reply - "We'll see what we can do."

Jones - "What do you mean, you'll see what you can do? I said we need to sit together. Make that happen. This is supposed to be the Happiest Place on Earth!"

Reply - "Well, sir, we can have your two tables in the same area but we don't have two tables sit by side at the moment."

Jones - "What? That's just stupid! Get me a manager right now, you idiot!" *continues to rant while the manager is called*

Manager - "Sir, what seems to be the problem?"

Jones - "This twit here won't seat my party together! Fire her!"

Manager - "I'm sure we can work this out. We will have two tables together for you in about 30 minutes."

Jones - "This is stupid! I h ave a reservation for right now! I want to be seated at this minute or I'll sue you!"

I'm going with a group of 8 in January. At the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre, we have to be split into two cars of four, but I'm going to ask and see if they can put us near each other. No harm in asking nicely! A lot of things I thought Disney wouldn't/couldn't do, I asked politely and had them done! I'm sure they get these sorts of requests a lot!

:rotfl2: You forgot the part about "I paid thousands of dollars for this vacation! You save up all year and THIS is what I get! I'm calling the local news station. People need to know about this scam!" Maybe scatter in a few cuss words just to make it sound real. LOL

We went this past May we had 4 in our party, friends of ours had 6 and we had 2 different ADR times, but within 10-15 min of each other at several locations. When we arrived we asked if we could be seated near each other, they would say they would do their best and almost everytime they sat us all at the same table!! We would have been happy just to be in the same area, but this was great. Of course if they couldn't have that would have been perfectly acceptable being that we had 2 different ADR's and not really supposed to be together anyhow. Just ask, they will do their best to accommodate you if they can.

Exactly the point that I was going to bring up. Once you're tied together you are subject to the 18% gratuity for parties of six or more. Even if it happens at the podium when you check in.
