three decades of waiting completely revamped with pics

Wow!!

When I posted a few pages back I had only just started your TR. So this morning I saved each chapter to my laptop, sat down, had a few coffees and read every chapter and I gotta tell you, it's just brilliant! I laughed out loud a LOT, nodded my head in agreement (and empathy) a LOT and even shed a tear, I kid you not. And there's still so many more chapters to come (please!!). :woohoo:

This post might get long. Sorry in advance!! Too many great bits to quote from....

We like the 70's part of the resort best, Jim tells us all the time he wishes he could of had his teen years in that era, he says they had the best music then

You have a kid with great taste! 'Wayne' would readily agree! Jimmy Page is Wayne's greatest guitar hero and he was fortunate enough to meet him last year when he came to our city to open an exhibit in the museum. He was totally awestruck and it's a moment he'll never forget. Jimmy (we're on first name terms now obviously :lmao: ) was incredibly sweet and kind.

that's when Jim pointed down at my feet. "You have on your bedroom slippers Einstein."

OMG!!!

it's funny that you can discuss your plans with total strangers at Disney and you're not looked at as being wierd, you can't do that anywhere else. In line at the grocery store...
Me: I see you got peas in your cart, are you including peas in your dinner
tonight?
Shopper: nods politley.
Me: I'm getting peas too, (show her my can) but I chose the store brand. I am putting it in my chicken pot pie, what are you putting your peas in, or is it just a side veggie?
Shopper: leaves and gets in a different line.
See? it only works at disney.

:rotfl: You are too funny!

it's just the whole air guitar thing, it rots my socks.

I know I know. It's nauseating! But even worse, do you remember back in the late 80s when air-keyboarding came in?  I must say though Wayne and Garth (not my pair, the guys in the movie!) did a fine job of it. :lmao:

on the bus I was feeling so guilty for not sticking to the itinerary, we hadn't even seen world showcase

It's impossible! Epcot is so HUGE!!!! We had the exact same issue on our 1st trip - we never got to see World Showcase (except for running through it for one ADR) and I was very disappointed. But it couldn't be helped. I now consider Epcot to be 2 separate parks and planned accordingly for our second trip. But I do hope you got to go there and, if not, definitely next time. :thumbsup2

I never feel dumb about my prayers even if the ride does turn out to be not so dangerous, and when we choose to ride again, I say "dear God, ditto" He knows what I mean.

That is so sweet!

But on a crowded day like that it should be manadatory that the parent pushing the stroller wear break lights on the buttocks.

:rotfl:

"Just take it for what it is and stop trying to preach the end of the world to me. I am at freakin Disney
:thumbsup2

I don't care if they scan my fingers, they can scan my *ss if they want to

:lmao: They tried that but those brake lights kept gettin' in the way. :confused3 :rotfl2:

Alex Jones

Am I inviting trouble and opening a whole stinky can of worms if I ask who he is??

The little girl sat up smiling and looking drunk, "I don't think I can wait a second more."

OMG! That is amazing. Pure magic! :goodvibes

"Lamiere? is that you?"
Of corze eet eeze moi, oo else woot I be eh?"
"Hey little dude, I am really sorry about your tail."
he turned his back on me "Aypologee... note eggcepteed"
"I just wanted to keep you some place safe."
He snorted "you wanteed to old me capteeve, like some aneemul."
"Nah man, we were friends, I cared for you."
"Do you reep ze tellz off o everee one you care for eh?"
"not on purpose, but hey your tail looks great now."
"Humpgh. no sanks to ayou."

:lmao: :rotfl2: Brilliant!! You should consider writing a short story with him as the main character!

And the part that made me cry....
I love the movie song of the south and it just made me
feel like a kid again, It was my Papa, who took me to see it, I swear I could hear him whistling and smell his old spice again. My Papa had passed away when I was 12 and I still miss him so much, it just felt so good to tell my kids that this was a major thing for me, we rode it again and they wanted to hear more Papa stories. He was such a gentle bear of a man, I remember he told me that rainbows were a promise from God that the storm will never last, I think of him every time I see a rainbow.

Beautiful.

I cannot stop laughing as I read each of your posts! The last one was H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S!!! I kept picturing my DH and me in your situation. We would have been doing much the same thing, only I would have been the louder one with him cautioning me to keep it down so they wouldn't hear. Of course, that always makes me laugh out loud, which of course lets those who we were laughing at look over. It's great fun!

I love your pics with Chip and Dale. On our first trip to WDW together we had some excellent escapades with those two. One night, at a late night at the MK, we were walking around the front of the castle, just enjoying the beautiful evening. It was fairly empty where we were, since most people were off enjoying rides. Out of nowhere, Chip and Dale show up and start chasing my husband! Then, he turns around suddenly, and begins chasing them! Next thing I knew, a cop shows up and I wasn't sure if he was a CM dressed up like a cop, just joining in the fun or a real, honest to goodness cop checking to make sure we weren't harrassing Chip and Dale. Please! Chip and Dale are the ultimate harrassers and I love every minute of it. I was cracking up so hard, my sides hurt and tears were coming out of my eyes. After it was all over, I realized that I never took pictures of any of it. So, now, the moment will just live on through our stories. Those two are a real hoot! Another time, we were in AK and a mother was sitting on a bench playing with her infant who was getting an opportunity to walk a bit. Dale went and grabbed the baby's blanket from the stroller, laid across another bench on his back, and stuck his thumb in his mouth, as he hugged the baby's blanket! It was too, too funny! I really can't ever get enough of those two.

Keep the posts coming. You truly have a way with words, my friend.

Jim would go to the ends of the earth to meet Jimmy Page. That's so great that Wayne got to meet him.

I have honestly never seen anyone air keyboard, I am trying to imagine that. Air drums are pretty ridulous as well, but I have to say air guitar is what gripes me the most.

They tried that but those brake lights kept gettin' in the way.
Now that is funny.

Alex Jones is one of the leading activists in conspiracy theory. He has infilitrated places like Bohemian Grove (where rich politicians hang out, including the U.S. president; Jones claims it's a cult) he has busted secret police in New York and basically tries to bring public awareness to "the lies" the Govt. feeds us. I am not a follower of Alex Jones, and since then DH has cooled down and is starting to think some of Jones ideas are far fetched.

Thank you for making me feel so proud of myself, I always post a new installment then later second guess myself for what I have written, but so far everyone, especially you, has been so kind.

Breaking news from WDW, 2 people arrested when caught harrassing the ever innocent ChipnDale. Apparently the perps were stalking the chipmunks waiting for the chance to steal their nuts. Had it not been for officer friendly coming to the aid of ChipnDale there is no telling what these 2 would have done next [/I]

I love those guys, they seem to do the most playing around of all the characters.

You gotta write a book. You paint such an awesome picture...I feel like I am there with you!

What would I write about? :confused3

My whole life is about Disney, I guess I could write about what it's like to have an obsession. The research would be fun as I would have to stay on the Disney premises for inspiration and authenticity. Hey thanks for the idea.

Coming soon to a book store near you.DisneyAddicted A spellbinding tale of the trials and tribulations of an ordinary house wife and mother trying to lead a normal life while living with a secret obsession. Follow her through her daily rituals as she spends hours on the DisBoards living out Disney trip after Disney trip vicariously through unsuspecting trippie reporters. Be with her as she schemes to stay in her safe fantasy world of everyday being a Disney vacation. Cry with her when she is forced to return to reality. And rally behinde her when she fights to return to the perfect magical world she has created in her mind

Day 4 continued

We arrived at Mk with a couple of hours to kill before our ADR at LibertyTree Tavern. Reese and I looked in the shops on main street and Kent and Jim headed for space mountain. Kent hadn't ridden it yet and Jim was dying to ride again. Reese was still looking for gifts for friends back home. I had found tons of things I wanted, a mug, a hoodie, a tote, and some stationary, and I got in line. Now I don't know if this is a curse or a blessing in disguise, but I always end up in the lines where there is trouble ahead and the line does not move, this gives me time to think about what I am buying and I always end up putting it all back, I do that every time I am given a minute to think, it saves money yeah, but then later I regret not getting it and I never ever learn.:sad2: Reese had no luck finding that certain somthing so we left every store empty handed. Except for a few postcards.
We headed over to Buzz LightYear, why? seriously I can't remember:confused3 we are not huge fans of this ride, maybe the line was short. but that's where we ended up and I can't really say much about the whole thing because it isn't a memory, I know we went cause I have pictures
ahoy.jpg

scared.jpg

There's the proof, we were there! I just don't recall it.
We went to Toontown thinking I would meet Mickey, but the wait was so long I thought I would come back closer to closing time and try again. All the lines for the character meet and greets were sooooooo long, but I knew I would be meeting Goofy at least. He is my all time favorite, so that's somthing to look forward to.
We got in line for Stitch, then got out of line, we didn't know what to do anymore, we just walked around like Zombies, finally we just went to LTT and waited for Kent and Jim, they showed up shortly there after and we went in to eat. The place was packed and we were told it would be about 20 minutes, so we sat down and I fell asleep, not for long though, I was jolted awake when the person yelled "Hear yee, hear yee, announcing the Smith family from where ever." I thought that was pretty neat. I think we waited about half an hour before we were called. We took our seats and ordered our drinks, our waiter explained the setup and that menus were not needed. We were fine with that. At this point all that was left to do was wait, we looked around at the decor, we loved it, we love anything from that era, our den is set up to look like an old trappers cabin, Kent did some nice stone work for our wood stove to set on, we have traps and animal hides all over the room, bear skin rug (kent shot when he was 13) it's my favorite room in the house,
this restaraunt was making me a little homesick.
fire.jpg

This is a corner of our den before the ceiling was done.
so for those of you who have been in the LTT you can see how I would be missing home a bit.
Our food came, and I loved it, this is how we eat at home, Kent is a great cook, he likes his meals the way grandma makes it, I can cook it if the instructions on the box are clear, but Kent doesn't like "box" food, so he does the majority of the cooking at home. He is to blame for my weight gain as well.
AT one point during our meal we got into a huge discussion as to what is Goofy, if he is a dog, then how come he is dressed and drives a car and can talk, but Pluto who is a dog doesn't do any of that? We asked our waiter who could not answer cause he didn't know. I thought it was a prerequesit to work at Disney to have knowledge of all things Disney.
sidenoteI have since discovered that Goofy is a dog and he actually used to be named "Dippy Dawg". I still however do not know why Pluto remains pantless, voicless and without a drivers lisence. :confused3
Minnie was the first to visit our table, she was so cute, she posed for pictures and scowled at Jim when he wouldn't remove his hands from his face.
So I was able to get a normal picture for once.
jam.jpg

momatdisney.jpg

Pluto cam around next, and just like all the other characters he was amused by Jim's hair, he played with it, pulled it up to a mowhawk, then was pretending to use his spit to hold it in place
hair.jpg

ChipnDale were the next ones to visit, they ofcourse played with Jim's hair and took Reeses camera and were acting like they wanted to take a picture but couldn't figure out how to work it.
gang.jpg

I was so excited to meet Goofy, I knew he was next, I saw him coming andI could not contain my excitement, I started to hop up and down in my chair, and I might have gotten a little teary eyed, (it's not everyday I get to meet a major celebrity) as he got closer and saw me freaking out he acted bashful, the he motioned for me to get up and come over to him, so I did. he hugged me so hard then he started to dance the waltz with me, after he spun me around and then bowed to me. THe best character experience of my life, I was on :cloud9: the rest of dinner.
love-1.jpg

Our dessert came, it was apple cobbler and vanilla ice cream, loved it. I kept turning in my seat to see Goofy, I wanted to make sure he wasn't dancing with anyone else, he wasn't, a couple times he caught me watching him, he would wave to me, one time he even blew a kiss.
THe kids wanted to go sit outside while Kent and I finished up our dessert, but I saw Reese had left her purse with her epi-pen in it, so I took it out to her, I was at the top of the steps when a loud booming voice came out of a speaker in the bushes,I was not expecting that and I screamed and fell down the stairs, all I could do after that was laugh, a CM came over to see if I was o.k. I just nodded cause I couldn't speak I was laughing so hard, he helped me up and I found the kids who had witnessed the whole thing and were pretending they didn't know me. IT was close to wishes so I ran in and got Kent so we could all watch it together.
We watched from liberty square and it was fanatastic, we hadn't even made plans for this, it just kind of fell in our lap, I'm glad it did, it was great, the music and fireworks combined was so special. My pictures turned out so so, I ended up just using postcards on my firework page in my scrapbook. After wishes we along with everyone else in the park started to make our way to the buses, it took forty minutes just to get out of the park, but nobody was pushing or being rude, it was just a nice slow moving walk. Of course Pop's bus is at the very end and the line is a gazillion people long, we waited quite a while then al of a sudden 3 buses came just for us, and we were headed back to the resort.
Jim was sitting next to me and we were behinde to young boys, one kept turning around and watching us so Jim would make a face at him, but when his back was to us Jim would tickle the kid or throw paper in his hair, when he turned to look Jim would blame me. The kid was cute and joined in the joking around by getting on the floor and grabbing Jims shoe laces under the seat. this went on the whole ride back.
Once at the resort Reese and I got on our Jammies and we went to the food court for a frozen coke, Jim met us there later, we sat in a booth and talked for an hour about our day, Jim said some guys on space mountain freaked out because their bars didn't lock right away and they jumped out while it was moving causing all kinds of chaos. But I remember they don't lock right away, you get in and it moves up and they lock it then. I was a bit freaked too.
We finished up ou drinks and on our walk back to our room we decided that we would sleep in tomorrow until at least 10:00am.
We got to our room, Kent was asleep already, we all got into bed and then it dawned on me that I still had not seen Mickey, I had 1 day left to meet the big guy.

Great pictures you have in this installment!!!! You literally fell down the stairs? Like on your bootie??? So sad!

Tell Mr. Jim that we are so excited we finally got to see his face! I mean, really, at least we know it really was him that was there with yall!

:lmao: I know and I agree but the way you expressed yourself above is just hilarious! :rotfl2:

I think it's that Disney had a tradition of humanising all their animal characters but if all their animal characters were humanised (wearing clothes, talking etc) then that didn't leave any room for pets so someone decided that Pluto should be a realistic normal type of dog with no humanisation involved. But I agree it's still rather odd and wouldn't you think Goofy would be cross with Mickey for having a fellow dog as a subservient pet? :rotfl2:

Or it could just be that, as with humans, in the dog world there are winners and there are losers and, cute and all as he is, perhaps Pluto is just one of life's losers. :teeth: pluto:

You fell down the stairs?? OMG!!! and also :lmao:

So glad to see Jim finally! Tell him he's a very handsome young man and should not shy away from the camera in future.

Great chapter.... can't wait for more! :)

I really love this trip report. I can understand the fallin at the start of wishes. It startled us also when we were there for the first night also. We had just gotten off Dumbo with our daughter (3 then). She loved the fireworks but hated the noise... Jim really should show his face a little more often. When will be hearing from Reese. I'd like to hear her side of all this also. Oh and I can't believe you have not seen the big guy. but I know you will.

ttfn

Did you get hurt going down the stairs?

I can't believe you didn't see Mickey during that entire time. We are always so lucky about seeing him all over the place. In fact, on our trips, we usually are able to get multiple pictures with both him and Minnie, without a whole lot of effort. People who also frequent WDW always tell us how unusual that is, but we've always lucked out, I guess. I can't wait to read about when you finally meet him. Please tell me you do get to see Mickey at least once during your trip.

WOW! Still no Mickey Mouse! I love the LTT. Minnie kissed me there (SCORE!...wow, that was kind of scary). So you never got to do Stitch, eh? And I really don't like Buzz either!

I will dedicate the book to you since it was your idea;)
Thank you for the compliment. I really do appreciate it.

SpaceMountain I will autograph the book special to you.

so you got a little smooch from Minnie Eh? ooh la la.

Courtneyand Ryan yup fell right on my keester, is was more like a fall, roll. It was too funny to be embarrassing.

DebIreland Hate to think of Pluto as being a loser, poor guy. I dress my doggies and speak for them, (my chi hua huas of course have a mexican accent) I guess I can't blame Walt for humanizing animals, I am guilty of the same thing.
I think Jim is quite good looking too, thank you.

Buzzlightwait I wish I had a video to post of me falling, the scream I let out was just as funny, it was like oooowah! No mouse yet, I think he was hiding from me, the crazy lady who wears her bedroom slippers to the park and falls down stairs.

njdisneyfreak I had lots of opportunities to meet Mickey if I stood in line but he so far never made just a random appearance. You are one of the lucky ones.

Hi! just getting caught up again! hilarious as usual!:rotfl: Sorry you and Reese had to sit next to The Grosserson's in AK! Can't wait to read more!popcorn::

Yes I did. But shhh, my girl friend doesn't know:love: .

-Dainan "Hehe, just kidding, i called her and told her to make her jelous" Rafferty

This is kind of off topic from my TR, but writing seems to help the mind work things out so I am going to post it.

I have been reading different Trip reports, my favorites are the ones when the parents surprise their kids, I get all caught up and excited in their planning and bawl like a kid myself when the surprise is revealed. I love surprises. I love to read about a young childs first response to seeing the castle or meeting Mickey. And this may sound crazy, but I would love to have another kid so I can experience Disney through a childs eyes. But there will be no babies in my future.
It's not because of somthing tragic or a medical reason. When I was pregnant with Reese the ex informed me that I was on my own for the birth as he thought the birth of our son James was boring and he had better things to do with his time. Of course I did what any young mother to be would do and I called my mom, she said she would come down for the birth. Then 1 month before the due date at a regular checkup, my Dr. informed me that Reese was complete breech and ready to debut herself to the world, so a c-section was scheduled for the next morning. While I was alone in his office I made the decision that Reese would be the last and I signed the papers for a tubal ligation.
I always believed I would stay in that marriage forever, I had made a promise before God and never thought I would break it. But I wasn't about to bring another child into such a mentally, verbally and physically abusive setting. (the abuse was never against the children, just me)
The next morning (with my mom by my side) the Dr. delivered my precious Reese. I now had a perfect boy and a perfect girl and I had no regrets about getting my tubes tied. The Dr. said he was going to cut, burn and tie the tubes and also remove an inch of them and stick them on a shelf where they would never bother me again.
Reese and I were in the hospital for 5 days, the ex came to see her on day 3 he stayed about 10 minutes and kept calling her Janice, I told him I named her Reese but he liked Janice better, too bad buddy, the birth certificate has already been filled out.
At home things only got worse and then I realized that staying together for the sake of the kids and because of my vow I had made to God just wasn't in the best interest of my kids, I didn't want Jim to grow up and think it was ok to treat people with such disrepect and I didn't want Reese to grow up thinking it was ok to be treated like crap by anyone let alone the person who vowed to love you. God knew my heart, and I now believe he would not want me and the kids to suffer, so I left, with just the clothes we owned (and the washer and dryer)
Kent has loved my children as if they were his own, infact he says they are his own from his heart, and he had no problems marrying me even though he knew I couldn't have any more kids (his mom hated that but got over it after a few years)
Sometimes when we take trips to Chincoteague Va. and pass by the Salsbury, Md. hospital where Reese was born, I think about stopping in and seeing if the Dr. still has that piece of tubal inerds and could he possibly reattach them.:confused3
I would have loved to be able to take my kids to Disney as young children, but the funds would not allow. I feel robbed, but angry at myself in the same, and I feel selfish that I want a baby just so I can do Disney with them, well that and I think Kent and I would make a gorgeous baby together. But still, I want to be able to build Disney up in their mind and then plan a surprise to get them there and then just relish in the unbelievable magic of it all.
I know I will get over this feeling, even without a small child to experience it with, Disney is still wonderful and I have no problem enjoying it as if I were a child myself. I know that someday in the far off future there will be grandchildren and I will be able to plan a surprise for them and get to be a witness to their excitement. But for the moment it hurts, and I keep saying if I had known back then what I know now....
I am sure there are other Dsney lovers out there who feel the same way, I am glad that I have a place to vent about it.
