We visited WDW from June 22-26, flying in from Central IL on a Sunday, and returning on Thursday. As far as the transportation aspects of our trip, with nonstop flights from a small, easily accessed Midwestern airport (BMI) and the luxury of DME when we arrived, how could it be any better? The Magical Express is the way it should be done everywhere, folks. It was just my wife & I, she having a convention in Orlando, and I having the duty of goofing off and writing reviews.
Having traveled to & from WDW, what about "Dis?" Having never been there, and working only on what I heard or could find out beforehand, I can say that what I found what pretty much WHAT I expected, there was just so MUCH of it!
Reading about the theme parks, and being aware that there are "a number" of resorts doesn't prepare one for the reality. The place is HUGE, I'm sure the biggest vacation / amusement venture ever undertaken by a single company in human history. In proportion to population, the Amphitheatrum Flavium (Colosseum) in Rome, coupled with the Circus Maximus, may have entertained more people.....but those were different times, my friends.....not so much blood on the sand at WDW.
I could go on, but I'll just pick my best & worst, and have done:
BEST: Seeing all the little kids so excited and having a great time. What else? They are who it's for, and the only real justification for WDW's existence.
WORST: The noise level. All those people in one place generate enough noise, and the background WDW music that is omnipresent in so many places, and is always cranked up just about two notches too high, needs to have a sock stuffed in it (and I wear hearing aids). Listen up, Disney, because a lot of us are having a hard time; 90 db will do that to you.
