My DD is a HP freak and she is so excited to go for her bday! My question is: are there no reservations for Three Broomsticks for lunch? We are going at the end of January...how long a wait do you think there will be? We were thinking about ressies at Mythos instead, but she would love to stay in WWOHP as long as possible!

Thanks!

Nope, ressies for breakfast only for those with the package. For late January, I wouldn't expect much waiting for 3B, especially if you avoided the peak of lunch hour.

Thanks! One more question...do you know the lunch hours? My kids like to eat early so if they are open for lunch at 11, we would be likely to go then.

Not sure I understood !!Can you have breakfast there without the package and where is a breakfast menu to be found !!??

No, you must be part of a package and have a ressie to have breakfast there. If you want, you can ask the morning you are there if there have been any cancellations. I have heard of a few people getting in that way, but it didn't work for us last Oct.

As far as lunch/dinner goes, the wait will depend on the time of year you go. In Oct., during a somewhat busy weekend, we did not have a wait for a 6PM dinner. I would think an early lunch wouldn't be much of a wait unless you are going during the holidays.

I do have to say that the food is WAY better at Mythos. I was very underwhelmed at 3 brooms and it is just as expensive. Think typical park food vs. a nice non-chain restaurant. In the future, we'll eat at Mythos and go to the hogs head which is connected to 3 brooms for a butterbeer dessert.

Thanks for your advice I kinda thought it strange that no menu for breakfast !! Being English I would love to try the food just to see if it is authentic !!!What I had read about the English breakfast it had some really traditional items !!!

I have to agree that Mythos is far superior food-wise to Three Broomsticks. We ate at both recently. Of course, Three Broomsticks has other attractions, but the food was average (though much better than Disney's quick service offerings). I would steer clear of the cornish pasties. The fish and chips were pretty good. The frozen butter beer is good, though really too sweet for my taste. If you eat at Three Broomsticks, be sure to check threads and internet sources on what to look for while there. Supposedly, there are elf shadows moving on the walls, etc., none of which we saw when we ate there.

As for Mythos, it was delicious. We were very pleasantly surprised.

What is "the package"? Is this something you can sign up for? Is it connected with staying on the Universal property?

Strange. When I had the cornish pasties, they were very tasty!

We were there the first week of October and the crowds were shocking. I've never been anywhere so crowded in my whole life. It felt like you were in a herd of cattle. You could barely move in the "street". But, we ate at Three Broomsticks at lunchtime and the wait wasn't bad at all. Wish I could say the same for Olivanders, Honeydukes, and the butter beer stand.

Liberty Belle - Wow, that's really disheartening. Were you able to get there when the park opened, and if so, was it as bad then?

We were there 12/8 between 1130-12. There was a rush on, but they were doing a very good job of finding tables for everyone as they got their food, as in there was virtually no wait at all.

Had the pasties, and they were good, what there were of them. I grew up eating them, but they were full-sized. The lunch is basically a salad w/a side of biscuit-sized pasties.

Never ever ever go to the butterbeer carts! Next time, go into the Hog's Head Pub. There is usually little-no line.

Until I was actually there earlier this month, I had no idea what it meant to be in WWOHP. It is only a small, short section of "street" where there are a couple of shops you can go into, it really isn't a place you would stay in, per se, or a village. It's very small! I don't think you will spend as much time there as you think, especially if you are going after the holidays and the crowds will be light. There's a restaurant, a candy store, Olivanders and one other store (Owl Post?). Really not much to it :confused3! (Forgive me if I am missing something, but there really wasn't as much to see as I expected after reading all the threads before we left for our trip) Hogwarts (the building with Forbidden Journey ride) is up the hill, away from the stores. The Three Broomsticks had good food, we really enjoyed the shepard's pie and the fish and chips. I would skip the pasties. They were tiny and not very tasty. My whole family enjoyed the frozen Butter Beer, it tasted like a butterscotch slush, but a bit creamy.

I think it really depends on the level of Potter fan someone is in relation to how long one can stay in the WWoHP.

Yes it is a small area but I spent the majority of our two day trip in it and really did not want to leave. Of course, I'm a true blue Potter nerd and I was completely overwhelmed with the place. I spent many hours just looking at the little details, the window displays, the displays inside the shops, the signs, the posters ect ect. There are just so many little things to see and experience inside the Wizarding World for fans that I wouldn't recommend just rushing through to the rides and through the shops.

JandKmom-if your daughter is a huge Potter fan, let her take her time and look at everything, let her listen for the noises upstairs in the Three Broomsticks, let her read the chalkboards and watch for the shadows on the walls. Let her stand in front of the windows and underneath the Owlery and at the train station and really look at it all. There are so many hidden little gems that Universal put in from the books that make it so very real. Also, even if you do the standard queue for Forbidden Journey, also take the time to do the Castle Tour line and take your time going through Hogwarts, there are so many things in there that are easily missed when keeping up with the ride queue. Same with the stores, as there are tons of display pieces in them that will make any Potter fan happy.

Thanks! I think my DD will love all of the details there. I'll probably have to take her around myself for a time while my younger child goes to explore some other areas with his daddy, just so she will have a good amount of time. She is scared of the Forbidden Journey, so she just wants to do the castle tour. Is there a separate line for that?
