Threading vs. waxing......

Oh my, you bleed, breakout and get puffy skin from waxing? I get none of those things. For you I guess threading would be better.

Yes, it's horrible. My eyes were puffy for days after and yes, I bled as well. I swore I would never ever do it again. LOL It was horrible.

If you were asking about eyebrows I would definitely say threading, but not the upper lip on I kid I'm assuming has never had any threading/waxing/plucking done. (Note: I'm making this assumption because you mention that you consider her to be young... I started getting my eyebrows waxed in 3rd grade and had plenty of experience with hair removal by 12)

I would suggest a mild hair removing cream at home for what you're talking about. Then I would suggest waxing. Yes, it's going to hurt but it is over much more quickly than threading.

My DD and I absolutely love threading for the eyebrows, but my mother thought it was incredibly painful for the upper lip-- said it felt like she was having her nose hairs ripped out for 5+ minutes.

I don't find that the upper lip is that painful, it does hurt but not as bad as having nose hairs ripped out. lol
I think a lot of it has to do how experienced your technician is, I've been going to the same place for a few years now and some techs are better than others.

When friends did electrolysis, the technician advised using manicure scissors to cut the hair as close to the skin as possible. She said anytime you disturb the root, the hair will grow back darker. Just a thought ....

Threading the upper lip is very painful! It feels like a zipper across your lips. Brutal! I find it way more painful than waxing.

I didn't really notice any benefits to threading at all. Waxing is much quicker. Id wax.

We have a winner here, That is exactly what is felt like. A big zipper across by upper lip being slowly zipped and unzipped repeatedly.

I agree. I don't think I'd have a young teen do threading on an upper lip. My DD19 started having her eyebrows waxed around age 12 *she's 1/2 Greek, so she's olive skinned and has dark hair, lots of it* From there, she eventually graduated to having her lip waxed. We found a great salon and we go there every few weeks. THey have never burnt her or left her with a rash. It's over in less than a minute and it's really not all that painful if the aesthetician is good.

I've done the scissors. I use the curved manicure scissors and they work great!!!

I'd look into laser hair removal also. Whether you go for waxing or threading it is going to be a regular expense for the rest of her life. It might make sense to take care of it with a laser.

:thumbsup2 There are always Groupons for laser removal.
